Description

The variety of race types in Rallisport Challenge allows gamers to experience traditional rally racing against the clock, as well as fierce, wheel-to-wheel grudge matches. Gamers will find over 25 licensed vehicles (with a few hidden surprises) from manufacturers like Audi, Citroen, Lancia, Ford, Subaru and Mitsubishi. Daring drivers can also take the wheel of the (in)famous Group "B" cars from the 1980s, which are now banned from real Rally competitions. Rallisport Challenge will show swaying trees, animated crowds, animals avoiding your car's path, and realistic particle effects as gamers run through mud, dirt, snow and water. Vehicles will also show realistically modeled damage.

Overall: This is the first game i played for the Xbox and it is one of the best even now. Sliding through the corners and jumping through straight stretches is the best. The physics is the best and it is crazy to go out of control and fly over a cliff. There are multiple tracks ranging from asphalt to gravel to even ice.
Gameplay: The gameplay is fast and intense. There are many different races and they are all different and you have to get used to each specific level. The cars are also amazing ranging from slow to faster than sound. Theres nothing more intense than sliding around your friend in a hairpin corner.
Graphics: The graphics were amazing when this game first came out and are better than some racers coming out even today. The mud is very convincing and the levels are done beautifully.
Sound: The sound is very realistic and make sthe game even better. I like that you can use your own sountracks. It is also great to hear your co-pilot telling what is up next on the course. It is definitly a good respresentation of rally sport.
Suggestions: Not much to say except to keep coming out with these great games.

Overall: Rallisport Challenge is the best off-road racing game available. With 48 tracks and 29 cars it doesn't get old, a lot of replay value.
Gameplay: This is more realistic than other racing games out there, your co-driver tells you when a turn is coming up or bumps are ahead. The co-driver is sometimes hard to figure out what he means but it is a great touch to the game.
Graphics: Wow, the tracks and cars look amazing. I like how when you are racing in mud or snow, how it gets on the car as you go, and when you hit something the damage on the car is perfect. I like how you can travel a pretty good ways off the road, which is a plus.
Sound: Every sound in the game is realistic. The sound of the different terrains and vehicles are great. The voice of the co-driver is also done well.
Suggestions: Keep games like this coming!

Overall: Overall this is an awesome game. It was the best rally game the Xbox had (until rallisport 2 came out) and it really attracted a lot of attention with its graphics and unique racing style. It was a great beginning stage for the rallisport series on Xbox.
Gameplay: The gameplay was awesome. A very fun game to get into and really gave a better appreciation for the rally racers. The career was challenging but it eased you into the game each stage and helped you gradually advance as your skills increased.
Graphics: The game looks just great. For one of Xbox's first rally racers this was just out of this world. It was very smooth and had a look to it that isn't seen in any racing game. The unique look suited the unique racing style that rally has.
Sound: This game sounds just great in my opinion. The cars engines sound just like a rally car should and you can really hear everything that is taking place when you make a turn. ie. dirt flying. They did a very good job capturing the sounds of a rally race.

Overall: Ralli Spot Challenge is a great racing game. It's not a stylish and city like racing game, but it's very fun and its much easier to drive than project gotham racing, and overall it's worth it. Go get it its on;y $20 a steal for a game this tight.
Gameplay: It's a racing game. The Gameplay is very smooth racer and it's easy controll over the car is very cool. You race in rallys, mountains, terrains, etc. One other thing I love about it is it's smoothness it's very enjoyable and nothing is frusturating.
Graphics: The graphics are excellent, smooth scenery, it looks almost like life to me, and the cars are beaytiful. This has graphics that can't get better. It's tight.
Sound: Its good backround music, and the guy who you listen to tels you where to go doesn't get annoying and is the exact opposite he's helpful. But take away that dumb accent Nah just playin.
Suggestions: Maybe more tracks, custom bodykits and Online enabled for the sequel. Excellent Job!

Overall: Overall this is a great game to play. The course graphics are very clean and smooth. The handling of the cars is very realistic.
Gameplay: This is a very smooth game to play. Multiple gameplay options to chose from. Each with it's own set of individual challenges and difficulty levels. The game also offers a variety of different vehicles to select from for the race each of which can be custom tuned for maximum performance on each track.

Graphics: The graphics are out of this world. Each vehicle is fully 3D and the course itself also features exceptional graphics.
Sound: This game also features realistic sound. The soundtrack for this game is also awesome and if you have your favorite tracks copyied onto your system you can add them to the game soundtrack and race to your favorite tunes.
Suggestions: The only suggestion I would have for the developers is to make damage a bit more realistic. Also would suggest that scenery be a bit more realistic in the sense that if you hit a shrub it should be knocked down and possibly into the track itself. Other than that this is a great game.

Overall: The most realisitc off road racing game on any console. While driving purists may find lack of depth or detail, those wanting twitch racing and jaw dropping graphics have found your match.
Gameplay: Very responsive controls which are also customizable to your individual racing style. While practice makes perfect on hairpins and some ice racing courses, instant action races are a good way to jump into this title.
Graphics: The most detailed graphics in weather, cars, courses, track types and daytimes. Plus the little touches like damage, wear and dirt/snow build up add the realism you'd expect from the xbox.
Sound: The norm for most racing games is repetitive "race tunes", yet these tunes paired w/ custom soundtracks from the hard drive make you want to race on your own terms. The engine revs, slides, screeches and squeals keep the level of reality on top of other similar titles.

Overall: What do you look for in a game? Engaging gameplay, originality, replay value, graphics and sound? Whatever you find good about games can be found with rallisport challenge. Definately the best rally game on Xbox.
Gameplay: The game features four modes of racing for excellent variety. Rally, ice racing, hill climbing more come together to make the most varied rally game availiable. The game features locations all over the world, and a good range of cars to keep you occupied. There is also a multiplayer option, but sadly this doesnt include system link. Each car can be tuned for compatability with each track, by adjusting the gear ratios, suspention, tyres and more in order to give you the most balanced ride. You are provided with a voiceover from the co-driver in the car to detail the hazards up ahead. Very enjoyable.
Graphics: The graphics are exceptional. Each tree is fully 3D, the cars are excellently constructed and each feature a realistic damage system. Perhaps even more amazing is the sheer depth of the landscapes. The variation and detail is unmatched in an Xbox driving game of this type, or a driving game on any other platform. The weather effects, sunsets and clouds of dust look great. The trail of tire marks left by your car in the dust is excellently bump-mapped to a degree of being almost touchable. The graphics are exceptional.
Sound: The sound of the cars engine, the voice over from your co-driver and even the sounds of weather and other ambient effects are very good. The soundtrack is also easily customised, via the Xbox hard drive.
Suggestions: An excellent edition to the xbox games list, and a valuable game in my collection. Keep it up.

Overall: Its hard to say that a game deserves 5 out of 5 but this one defintiely does! The gameplay is spectacular, the graphicsa re stunning, and the sound i just terrific! You can even use your own music
Gameplay: The gameplay is sweet. There's single player "campaign-like" mode where you race to improve your rank and get better car choice selections. You even get new maps when you finish the game. I think its four player multiplayer, and pushing a friend off a cliff never gets old!
Graphics: Stunning. Just plain stunning. There is damage to the cars which is a wicked added feature. The environments are beautiful, and details like trees and ashphault are taken into deep consideration. The cars themselves seem to use plenty of polygons.
Sound: You can use your own music! What more can you ask for? The engine noise is perfect along with the sounds of the brakes....
Suggestions: perhaps more maps

Overall: This is probably xbox's second best racing game.Every aspect of the game is amazing. The only thing that it disapointed me was that it wasen't an official WRC game.I hope one could come onto XBOX.
Gameplay: The levels are challenging as well as the modes.I mainly chose the career mode when driving. The ice and mud enviroments and times caused me problems.
Graphics: The enviroments are awesome in every aspect with cliffs, mud, desert and ice.The cars are perfect and are probably the most detailed i've seen in a rallying game.
Sound: The sound effects are amazing. The co-driver sounds very realistic as does the engines of all the cars. The crash sounds are also very realistic.
Suggestions: Try and make the next one an official WRC game with the real cars and tracks and even driver communication.

Gameplay: The game play is awsome. You race with other cars from your class and a few others all the while trying to be the best.
Graphics: The visuals were awsome as well.I ran into the walls at times because I was off starring at my surroundings.

Overall: Microsoft and Digital Illusions have created an amazing racing game. This is truly the best racing game on Xbox, next to Project Gotham Racing. Rallisport Challenge is based on rally racing. The game has a massive amount of different tracks and cars. Tracks vary upon terrain and weathers, as well as their location, which ranges across many continents. There are also many cars, that come from the top car industries in the world (Peugeot, Ford, Opel, Mitsubishi, are only a few of them). The most fascinating aspect of the game is its visuals and the sound, which both mix in with great gameplay to bring an amazing racing game. The game is truly on the track!
Gameplay: Gameplay is great and thats just one simple word to describe it. There are several different modes, which include Career, Single Race, Time Attack, and of course Multiplayer, which are found in almost every other racing game. Then each of those is seperated into four other modes, which vary upon the type of terrain. There is Rally, Rallycross, Hill Climb, and Ice Racing. There are two different difficulty levels: Beginner and Normal. Racing gets more difficult throughout the game and it depends upon the terrain and the competitors. You also get a co-driver, who after a while gets annyoing, but is sometimes helpful. Controls are also good and include a realistic amount of vibration on the controller. Overall, gameplay is awesome and I have no complaints.
Graphics: The visuals of Rallisport Challenge are stunning. The environments have a massive amount of realistic detail. Then even the cars have been designed with amazing modelling. Every bit of detail, from car damage to tire skidding to sunlight is great. The graphics of the game are exaclty what I want to see on Xbox. A review on another game site said "Rallisport Challenge is the Halo of racing games", which I completely agree with. If you own an Xbox (or a PC since it was ported too) and you are a racing fan then get this game. You will not be dissapointed.
Sound: Sound is another amazing aspect of Rallisport Challenge. The sound effects fit in perfectly with the visual environment and gameplay. Obviously, the game is presented in Dolby Digital and it presents great sound surround for car racing. If you have 5.1 surround speakers (and an Xbox racing wheel) then you will not even have to buy a car, because Rallisport Challenge is so realistic. The game also features some cool music, which fits in with gameplay. However, like many other racing games on Xbox, the game supports soundtrack music, so you can listen to your own music, while racing. Once again, no complaints with sound.
Suggestions: No suggestions and no complaints. In the future, I hope that racing games on Xbox will be like this one. Rallisport Challenge really shows true racing game quality. I would be satisfying to have a sequel, which could already be in development. And it would be great if it were to have Xbox LIVE support too.

Overall: I bought this game when it was released as a platinum. I must say it's the best platinum game by far. The game provides a great sense of speed, and the graphics are truly stunning. The handling of the cars are tuned more towards an arcade approach, as opposed to Colin Mcrae 3, which is too close to reality.
This game will NOT disappoint
Gameplay: The gameplay is very addictive. Some races consist of Point-to-point stages, and others consist of Circuit (lap) courses while racing 3 other cars. The scenery varies from stage to stage, from mountain cliffs to desert roads. It can sometimes get tedious, but only the Circuit racing, in my opinion.
Graphics: The game's visuals are stunning. Cars have almost mirror-like finishes when new, and slowly collect dirt as the stage progresses. If you're unlucky enough to crash into a tree or roll off a ledge, you will get the pleasure of seeing cracked windows, missing hoods and deformed bumpers and fenders
Sound: The sound is more than adequate for this game. All cars seem to have similar engine notes, but it's the last thing you notice. The music is great, you can listen to the supplied music, or import your own custom soundtracks..a racing game must in my opinion.
Suggestions: I recommend More choices of gameplay, less "circuit" racing, and giving each rally car the individual respect they deserve

Overall: This has to be the best racing game on xbox in every aspect. The framerate runs smooth, the graphics are top notch and the replay value is like for ever.
Gameplay: I like the since of spped in it, it makes u feel like ur actually in the car. Probably the only problem i got is that u cant change the colors of the cars you pick. You have alot to unlock from cars to tracks. Also i would have liked if the car didnt automaticly resit and put u on the track. It was annoying because it didnt seem as relistic, but otherwise i love this game
Graphics:
The Graphics has had me in shock and awe. Its just so unbelievable how much detail they put into working on the cars and tracks. Theres desert, snow, downslopesand everything and it makes you think how the graphics will be in the future. This game truley shows off the powers of the xbox.
Sound:
The sound is pretty good. The cars engines sound just about right and what makes it better is that you can have ur own sound track to listen to while your kicking friends asses :)
Suggestions:
Keep up the good work. And make Rallisport 2 xbox live and ill be happy, and take the automatic resit thing off

Overall: This game is a great racing game, hands down... The features of this game makes me want to come back for more, with 11 games in my collection, I am quick to have this in my top 5 of games to play first...
Gameplay: I have nascar thunder which is fun in career mode but as a comparison to RC, I find this game much more appealing.. First off, If you have friends over for multiplayer action, they will be disappointed to find out that most cars and tracks are locked out because they must first be opened from career mode, this is where my challenge really started.. The name is exactly what it is "A challenge" once you open up "expert mode" then things get fun... at that point you have access to many cars and tracks.. multiplayer action improves greatly...
Graphics: The tracks, cars and surrounding areas are detailed very nicely, The crash scenes are dramatic because the screen breaks out from your normal "racing view point" to show you the spectator view of the crash, VERY COOL...
Sound: Well, The sound is completely adjustable from the sound menu, the engine, co-pilot, announcer, and your own personal music while driving makes this also, a positive opinion from me...
Suggestions: Not that I can think of?

Overall: im want to start of by sayin that this game does not deserve to be the 3rd game on the list. i liked it, the graphics were amazing but thats what we have !&%$@#* to expect with racing games on the xbox (even ps2 has good graphics on racing game) personnaly i dont think that this game is as goof as project gotham, or sega gt 2002 but this is a great game with pretty simple controls... overall its a solid game with great visuals
Gameplay: i liked the game was setup from the start menue all the way to the tracks. the thing that made this game stand out from other racing games is the environments that u can race in and each one had its own unique style that made me want to come back and play again. they didnt have a huge variety of cars like i wanted but it was no where nere small either. over all the gaplay was pretty good but nuthin to be game of the year about
Graphics: the visuals was great but like i said earlier its racing and all racing games on the x box have great graphics. the places were very believable, like i was right there in the action. i loved it. the only thing that that was great on these graphics were the snow it was not realistic at all. everything and everywhere else was great. these graphics were better than segga gt 2002 in my opinion and that is a huge compliment...
overall these graphics are great and i havent seen another racing game that is a whole lot better
Sound: these tracks are not good at all but they dont suck like other racing games. some are good but i cant remember to many and lets face it when you dont remember the tracks on a game that usually mean they were good enough to stay inside of your head

Gameplay: I like the NASCAR racing style better than this one. I seen the real live racing road courses.. it doesnt do the same as this game. But it was challeging thought. It have 4 players and very fun to play with buddies.
Graphics: Great graphics. Feel realistic and its what we really need! Almost all xbox video games have great graphics anyway.
Sound: I am deaf and doesnt care about the sound... at least no one is talking in the game. I like the viration part its awesome!! Loved the feelings!

Overall: wow! this is a great game! I am a bigger fan of the ralisport type racing then street racing or f1 or nascar. I think this game is by far the best ralisport out there and it just feels so realistic.
Gameplay: The handling and everything is perfect. Depending on what type of road you are on the traction will be different and you will slide if it is slick. I really like the track where it is all ice and snow it makes u really handle your car with a lot of control and if you gun it to fast you will slide right off the road. The entire game just feels well put together. It is realistic but not to a point where it is just plain frustrating.
Graphics: The graphics in this game are truly amazing. It is amazing.. if u crash into a tree the leaves will fall. If you drive by an animal it will turn its head and watch you drive by. Every single detail was taken into acccount in this game. The ground looks amazing the textures are wicked. The cars look really good! they have all the decals and they have damage at the end of the race it just shows every single detail you could look for.
Sound: The soundtrack in this game is about the one thing that i did not like very much. It was pretty technoish but pretty bad overall. Putting in your own music would be better then listening to the main soundtrack. All the sounds are in 5.1 so that helps immerse you in the game much better. The one thing i would like to see is more noise from the cars and more road noise. That would make the sound effects that much more realistic.
Suggestions: Just make more road noise like rocks hitting cars and sand flying everywhere just better sound.

Overall: First off...this game delivers what is expected of such a title: A great rally arcade game. If you love rally this game must be added to your collection. I have also tried Colin McRae Rally 3 and here RSC will get some serious competition but that is good since these games are at such a high standard already. This way the games will only get better.
Gameplay: Gameplay is working fine in this game although I would love to be able to use the right thumbstick for acceleration and braking like in PGR and CMR 3. Other than this I have no gripes here. The cars handle VERY good. Levels are plentiful and diverse.
Graphics: This game delivers some beautiful locations with good attention to detail. I noticed right away the bump mapped track below me looking SO good and snow and mud flying when hitting corners etc. Cars are a joy to look at. Also the ability to hit banner signs is nice and can cause some funny moments in MP.
Sound: Sound is nice and again makes you feel right in the mix of things. The sound of all the cars taking off is great.
Suggestions: Take full advantage of the split screen features instead of making room for a progress line on a black background. This could have been implemented in the screens without taking up more room since it gets a bit tricky for 3 or 4 persons to fully utilize the screen area they are given.

It's a great title unto itself and if you are into racing games at all, it no doubt deserves it's place in your collection. It's probably superceded now by Colin McRae Rally 3 in terms of the Xbox Rally games Crown, but is most definitely still worth your time and effort to check out.
Gameplay: The gameplay is strong in this game to say the least. There is the classic 'rally' mode where you can work through the campaign type version of the game and then there are a lot of other sub modes to allow you to kick back and have fun.

You can do uphill climb races against 3 other opponents as well as Ice Racing and dirt track racing.

The only flaw is the points system required to 'unlock' the extra stages in the game. Each section you finish gives you points based on how quickly you went, your place and how much damage you did to the car. This can be a pain when you really just want to think about the clock.

Also, there is limited opportunity to practise each run before you go. If you are having problems with just one section is a 6 stage rally event, you cannot practise that one section over without going through all 6. This can be annoying.

That said, the cars are varied and feel very nice to drive as were the different events you could do as well. Apart from the standard section to section rally events, there were uphill climbs, ice racing and dirt races as well so you do get some variety.
Graphics: Being a first generation game the graphics do look a little dated now, but they are nicely done. The cars themselves look a little blocky, but definitely servicable. The gameplay is fast and there is not one shudder of slowdown at all. The environmental effects like the sun glistening on the ice is most striking.
Sound: The music in the game is not exactly what I'd call catchy or exciting, but it's not so annoying you'd want to turn it off completely either.

The cars themselves all sound great.
Suggestions: The damage model in the game is lousey with the car still operational short of an atom bomb falling on it.

The roadside components are made of titanium I think - even a 1 ton vehicle hurtling at 120mph cannot lodge a wooden sign post, but stop your car it can (in my best Yoda voice).

Overall: My second favourite racing game on the xbox. Buy love it play it enjoy it. One of the best racing games ever.
Gameplay: How can you get bored if lot of cars to unlock, and levels and the multiplayer is cool. Good thing it is going to be online.
Graphics: Graphics are pretty cool and very detailed. Cars get dirty, windows smashed, the cars are nice and pretty.
Sound: The sound is great good old engines sound good, ripping your own songs while you play.
Suggestions: Well you proved Rallisport racing is fun.

Overall: Since i was a little kid ive been fascinated by cars, i always bought racing games for PC, i played games like Need For Speed I, II Test Drive 4, ive grown out of that stage but i still got a thing for driving games. rallisport challengs takes things a step further graphically, but thats about it.
Gameplay: this game looks like it would be a good simulation, but its the opposite, its a arcade racer. there is races going downhill, uphill, and in snow. the races in snow are the worst, they are also the easiest, cause you can keep your finger on the trigger the whole time and just slide all over the track and win. the uphill and downhill seem the hardest to me. thats probly why i cant beat the game :-(. there is plenty of cars to choose from including B class vehicles...which are the best.
Graphics: Visually this games textures, graphics may be just be equal, if not better than Halo: Combat Evolved.
The trees, grass looks incredible, they even move in the wind. when driving the car get dirty in the correct places. the cars themselves look incredible.
the damage on the cars look good too. but if you try driving off a cliff or something by accident of course :D it will just reset you to the middle of the road.
Sound: the best part of the game other than the graphics, is that you can put your own songs in the hardrive and rip them in the game. you cant turn off the game music, which sucks, cause sometimes i just wanna listen to the engine.

Overall: I've always enjoyed watching off-road racing on the tube, and this game captures its energy and various dynamics perfectly. There's nothing like powersliding around corners and going way faster than it seems like you should be able to on winding tracks.
Gameplay: It rocks. One of my favorite parts is the way they used the force-feedback in the controller. You can tell how much traction you've got under your wheels by how the force-feedback is responding to how you drive in the game... it rocks.
Graphics: This game looks very polished and fluid. You'll never experience any video slowdown, no matter how fast you're going. The effects for the snow and mud and whatnot shooting out from under your tires are excellent. If there's another car in front of you and they go from the mud onto the tarmac, the effects are such that there's no question in your mind that that's what just happened. Very realistic looking effects on this one.
Sound: With dolby 5.1, the sounds in this game are amazing. You'll be racing around the track with your co-pilot guy telling you what turns are coming up, and the sounds of your car, and feel like you're really in the automobile.
Suggestions: Don't make such a badass game next time, it's taking up too much of my time.

Overall: I thought I must throw my 2 cents into the pile. I'm not a huge racing game player, in fact, this is the first racer I have on Xbox.
The game is absolutely fantastic. The graphics are amazing. The first thought that actually came to my mind is making a First person shooter with graphics and surroundings like in this game. That would be unbelieveble, Halo in this surrounding, just imagine.
Gameplay: The gameplay may take a bit of getting used to. I think the physics are pretty much right on. The turns may take a long time to get used to, sliding isn't easy, however, once you get it you'll kick ass. The game becomes very difficult quickly, at least I thought so and it also becomes unforgiving, meaning if you make even one mistake in the later tracks on normal difficulty you have no chance of finishing above 4th placement. Overall, the game i think is pretty difficult.
Graphics: Not much to say here that hasn't been said already. It's stunning, incredible, fantastic, etc. I hope they'll make more games with this type of graphics.
Sound: Sound is just Ok i thought. Music, honestly writing this I can't even remember any muzic. The driver's voice I thought could be better, I mean here's a guy who's sitting with you, realistic game and he's telling you what to do. I'd like to see him say other things, like scream when you're driving too fast or falling off a cliff. There's a lot to explore there.
Suggestions: 1. Improve sound.
2. Adjust difficulty. I think now that normal is too hard, what will i think of Hard.

Overall: This game is great. That's really all that I can say. It's by far the best racing game ever. Even though Project Gotham is good, this is the best.
Gameplay: Couldn't be better. It's got the same basic controls as Project Gotham. You have to get used to turning though. You have to anticipate turns more than any other game (especially on ice). The navigator tells you up-coming turns to make it easier. But, the turning makes it more fun, and a lot better.
Graphics: Visual couldn't be better. You got real grass, real rocks and real water. Also, rocks and dirt kick up behind the car to add to the effect. Heck, the trees even sway when you crash. Also, the car damage is realistic, too.
Sound: Techno. Yeah, I know techno does suck. But, you can always turn the music off. Other than the music, all of the sound effects are great. Peeling out, crashing, skidding. The exhaust pipe even pops when you shift. Also the navigator helps a lot. All this nifty stuff makes up for the crappy techno.
Suggestions: Make a sequel. Also, maybe you could add the concept of buying the cars instead of earning them. Other than that, keep up the good work.

Overall: I'm not a big fan of car racing games in general but I thought I'd give this one a shot based on the reviews I'v seen.
Gameplay: Been really fun so far. It took me a bit to get used to the controls but now it's perfect. I started out on normal level but switched to beginner to get a feel for it.
Graphics: Awesome. The graphics are drop dead gorgeous. I just started the Mount Kiwi tracks and it looks amazing. The extra effects like the car window reflections, etc, are really nice touches. Great to look at..
Sound: The sounds sounded authentic to me. Not being too knowledgeable of rally sport racing I can't comment more than that. The engine sounds great. Also I like the ability to import my own songs into the game. FINALLY have a game that allows me to do this.
Suggestions: A more indepth career mode would be nice. Maybe stats for the driver, etc.
