The appeal of this game is that it captures the quirkyness and dry humor of the TV series. If your a fan of the show and action games you will enjoy Buffy. Personally i'm not a huge fan, but watch it occasionally, and yet i found the game to be alot of fun, cast in the mold of most action games, you have hand to hand, weapons, and of course the Buffy stuff."

Description

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a third-person action/adventure game based on the international hit television series. Players take on the role of Buffy Summers, a typical student by day and a fierce destroyer of the undead by night. Buffy the Vampire Slayer combines fighting, action, drama, humor, exploration and puzzle solving in a complex interactive 3D environment.

Eons ago powerful demons walked the earth. Over the ages these ancient demons lost their control over society and failed to keep up with the changing times. The Old Ones, as they were known, were forced to retreat to the depths of Hell, while mortal man reigned the world. Now, back for revenge, the Old Ones are trying to take over the earth by creating a bridge between Hell and earth, and leading an army of demons into the living world. For this terrible plan to succeed, the Old Ones require the dark powers of the Master, a 600 year old vampire with expertise in opening dimensional portals.

Overall: Overall this would only be a renter but I wouldn't even recommend that much since there are other mindless killing games that have better sounds, graphics, moves, and at least some dynamics compared to this game. But, if you love Buffy this is your only choice.
Gameplay: Gameplay was decent. Simple buttons and easy combos. But, very few combos to learn and this just added to the boringness of just going through and killing blah blah blah over and over and over the same old thing. Find something, beat up and kill, heal, and repeat.
Graphics: The graphics for this game weren't too bad. The faces looked pretty accurate to the real life characters and didn't have that flat look that so many games use. Th environment was not too bad and you could interact with it to a degree which was nice. As well it stayed dark and gloomy for most of the time which was good since this is a vampire killing game.
Sound: The sound effects and voice overs were pretty good but oh my god there was one thing that bothered me so much. The fact that if someone was talking and you started beating the hell out of them they just kept talking perfectly calm and normal like nothing was taking place! It was so irritating.
Suggestions: Add something else to the game to give it real dynamics. Like let us play as a vampire or have a lot more things to learn in the game to make it exciting instead of just having the same killing.

Overall: Overall, not such a bad license, and at least they don't make a total hash of it. In fact, as a total non-fan of Buffy (I hold its star in a fair bit of contempt), I have to say this game had a lot stacked against it for me, and that it managed to get past that is a testament to the quality. There are some big annoyances, sure, but they are ones shared by every console game, so I can let them slide for the most part. It is nice to see a game revolving around fights that actually features realistic behaviour from the combatants. Every unfair advantage or cheap shot is exploited to the fullest by the enemy, making it a real joy to try and anticipate what the titular character's assailants will pull next. When the game goes into combat, it is all brilliant.
Gameplay: Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the exploration and level navigation component. Truth be told, this is by far the most annoying part of the game. To borrow what seems like a Buffy-ism after playing the game for twenty hours, platform jumping is like so early 1980s. Jumpman made it into an art form, while later games like Ultima VIII used it solely to extend the length of the game, and it suffered badly for that. Combining platform-jumping with the inability to save your progress whenever you feel the need is a massive strike against the game, because as I have indicated in other reviews, nothing kills the fun factor of a video game nearly as quickly as having to do the same thing over and over again. This is the one great pity of the game, because if these platform sequences had been left out, the game would have been an absolute joy to play. Another, slightly less annoying, problem is the way Buffy aims... with the squirt gun or the crossbow, well, let's just say that it is a !&%$@#* ed good thing she is much better at melee combat.
Graphics: Visually speaking, Buffy is a real treat to look at. No, not the character, the game. Not since the Cinemaware games of the 1980s has there been such rendering of details in characters, either in cutscenes or in the general game. Sometimes the cheekbones or arms look a bit jagged, but that is the fault of "modern" television, not the game. The enemies one fights are realistically rendered and three-dimensional, which counts for a lot. About the only area where I can fault the visual aspect of the game is the camera's inability to let the player see what they are doing at critical times. Against one boss character, one has to more or less guess where the wall switches that open the windows to sunlight are, and the penalties for guessing wrongly for too long are quite steep.
Sound: The audio component is one of the game's fundamental weak spots, but this is true of many games, so it is important to go into why. The music gives a suitable atmosphere, and the effects for weapons or attacks do their job, but the dialogue is rather... abysmal. One really has to wonder whether the producers only budgeted in a single day at the recording studio for voiceovers, because the lines spoken by enemies in combat, while charming the first time, get old so quickly due to repetition that four levels is enough to make one glad for the silence of demons or demonic spiders. Buffy's lines are not a lot better. Sure, they're in character, or at least I understand them to be, but they get on the nerves like dust on the inside of a PC. Still, some marks go to the developers for the musical component.
Suggestions: There is a reason why the custom soundtrack option was included with the X-Box. There is also a good reason why nobody can remember platform-jumping games other than Jumpman or Super Mario Brothers. Lastly, the reason why games on the PC allow you to save whenever you feel like it is pretty critical.

Overall: It's buffy the vampire, kick some vampire !&%$@#* all over the place, and that's it. Level after level, find a key, blah..blah. You all hyped this game up, disappointed, I liked blade 2 much better.
Gameplay: It's alright. Beat up badguys, find keys, get elixirs, not much to it. Too much hype had hopes up, what a let down.
Graphics: Graphics were good, no complaints here really. Same as blade 2 I figure, but I'd rather play blade, so I will, lol.
Sound: Oh whatever, voiceovers were fine. What they said was kinda dumb. I'm 21 maybe if I were 14 the cheesy jokes would appeal to me, maybe...
Suggestions: eh, make levels more elaborate. Add more customizable options. Make the game longer, and videos without the cheeseball lines.

Overall: I loved it. Great game. Awesome graphics. Easy to play while still being challenging for the player. I bought it months ago and still love it.
Gameplay: Easy to get the hang of, yet still challenging. The combinations are not impossible, but it takes some practice to get used to.
Graphics: Awesome graphics!!! It's nice to see the graphics break out of the two dimension block which we used to see in earlier games. XBox, with this game in particular has very lifelike graphics.
Sound: Great...Every so often she makes annoying comments, but it's a great game. The voices were great... I just wish they used Sarah Michelle Gellar for the voice.
Suggestions: Make a sequel!!! It would be great to see them follow up an awesome game with a sequel. Make it so that people can play other characters-- not just in the arena mode (like Willow, Dawn, Spike, etc..) have other villians also... it would be great...

Overall: This game is based on the TV series Buffy: The Vampire Slayer as you should know and IMO happens to be the best vamp game on the XBOX to this very day. Maybe Its sequel contends with it, but I wouldn't know.=P But anyway, its a whole lot of fun and the variation of attacks and evironmental weapons are amazingly impressive.
Gameplay: This game was a whole lot of fun. It doesn't have a whole lot of replay value in the longrun, but there are some parts in the game I could play over and over and over. For example: When the train is going by...I could throw the vampires into it all night its so much fun to see. As well as it is fun to throw them against table legs. The story is of most fun and is a good 10+ hours of fun play.
Graphics: The visuals are one of my favorite parts. The game captured the way I percieve a vampire dying and I loved it. I love the way the vampires go to dust and are gone. The environment is also a great feature to the game in its look and use in the in-game action. Also, the cast quite well resembled that of the TV series except for few minor problems that were easy to ignore.
Sound: The sound was good, but it just wasn't great. It had some repetitive in game remarks from the star: Buffy(of course). Otherwise, the sounds were really good with enemies and enviromentally. Oh and might I add that some of the bast parts were the group meetings where of course as in the TV series was the place to discuss the plans which is usually and was loaded with funny and witty remarks from the characters.
Suggestions: My suggestion would be to let you play the other side and be a vampire. Take the story from that point of view as well as the good side. Also, I would say make more characters available, but you were smart enough to already do that. =)

Overall: This game is fun...kicking vampire and other thingie´s but was really an insightful experience, but not entertaining enough.
At first it will be fun but with time things are gonna get haarder and duller. In the arenas, if youu press start with another controller and if an enemy is present then you can get to manipulate the vampire or whattever it is.
Gameplay: It´s a diablo like game in third person, sometimes when you are punching a vampire they block your attacks and manage to hit you, which will make you get frustrated at some time.
Graphics: The scenarios look alot like the ones in the series, almost alike, but then the characters really let you down, Buffy looks like Britney in her tight pants and Angel looks like a Back Street Boy without make up.
Sound: The songs give a touch of mystery to the game but then again the sarcastic commentaries of Buffy might seem a bit funny at first but you get tired of hearing her voice at a time.

Overall: Suprisingly good. Lots of people say the story was trite but that's the kind of story you would expect from the show. I am so glad they started from the early seasons because after the 3rd one it went downhill. Detail was very good, esp. Angel's mansion, it was exactly like the real one. Also I took more notice of facial expressions. Easy combos and I like how there were different controller settings available. Not being able to save at any time or having to start all over did get frustrating but not as frustrating as the slayer not being able to swim. You mean to tell me that the Chosen One can shimmy on pipes and the sides of buildings but she can't swim? That's my one real complaint.
Gameplay: I like this game, it kept me interested but I don't know about the replay value yet since I have not finished it. I do have to put it away sometimes because I get frustrated after the 5th try to jump on a crate and have to start all over again because I drowned. Also, I didn't enjoy the fact that almost everytime you get punched you get flung into the air and that counts as falling so your health gets taken down even more. But I guess that's part of the challenge, it's inconveniencing but challenging none the less. I like how once you have to fight a boss they don't really give hints directly to you on how to defeat them, you have to figure it out on your own. Oh and before I forget, I am sucker for games with interacting enviroments. Being able to throw your opponent onto things to dispatch them or breaking things with them is a definate plus. I do wish though that once you saved someone they would leave because it sucks that I would save them but then they'd die anyway because they just stood there.
Graphics: The visuals are not the best I have seen but they are still pretty good. I liked the facial expressions and I thought it was excellent how you couldn't see the vampires in the mirrors. One complaint though, Angel; he looked so messed up in this game.
Sound: I had no problem with Buffy's or her friend's voices, that was all good. I did however have a problem with the Master talking almost constantly throughout the dream world. I loved the music though, it chimed in perfectly everytime something major started happening. I'm also a sucker for fighting while techno is playing! ;) And the noises the Necrmancer's zombies made was perfect, it creeped me out.
Suggestions: Maybe make the game compatible with your xbox's built in soundtrack, the fighting would be funner.

Overall: I Totally Loved this game. I'm a serious Buffy fan as it is. So i was totally psyched when the game was released. I pretty much only bought my X-box for this game, and I totally think it was worth it. Buffy has great graphics, good sound and the controls are wicked easy.
Gameplay: When I first played the game i noticed it was alot better than i imagined it to be. The gameplay is wicked. Easy to figure out everything, how she moves, the views, ect.. Its not too slow like other games X-box has released, But still not the fastest either.
Graphics: The Graphics were great. I thought it was great how much Buffy looked like Buffy, as well as the rest of the charectors. you want to see good graphics? heres a tip, take out the cross bow near a charector, and zoom in as close as you can on their face, thats good graphics.
Sound: The sound was OK. Not the best. I loved how everyone did thier own voice, EXCEPT BUFFY. What was Sarah Michelle Gellar too good to do this, did she not have enough time on her schedule. What a snob. LOL J.k. No but seriously, the sound was pleasing, thats all.
Suggestions: Yeah, I saw clips for the second Buffy game, Chaos Bleeds. And im really hoping the clip i saw was gamecube or playstation, not x-box, cuz it looks like its going to suck. The graphics look horrible and the sound was terrible. So please, make Chaos Bleeds better than this one, cuz if it is better than this one, its going to ROCK!

Overall: Many people will write this game off before they even play it, and with good reason. Very few games, bar Goldeneye 007, based on movie or t.v. licenses are, Let me start off by saying: Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an excellent example of how to use a license to make a truly great game. While it isn't without it's share of flaws, all and all, it is definetly worth owning if you're an action-adventure game fan.Even if you're not a Buffy fan.
Gameplay: The gameplay of Buffy is pretty much pick-up and go. The weapons are easy to use and the combo fight moves are fluid and easy to execute. The main problem of Buffy comes when she has to fight more than one enemy at a time. The game lacks any form of a lock-on feature, so when attacked by a new enemy from behind, Buffy is extremely slow to react. This will result in a lot of trial and error missions. Thankfully, this is the game's biggest and only real flaw. And if worse comes to worse, Buffy has one of the best hidden multi-player modes in recent memory.
Graphics: Buffy looks amazing. Granted, it can't hold a candle to DOA 3 or Halo, but it does hold its own. The enviroments are detailed and gorgeous and the character models, with the exception of Willow, are all pretty on-point. Thr characters look like there tv counterparts, so Buffy fans will be right at home.
Sound: The music does help to add to the suspense factor of the game. It is very nice. The voice acting is incredible. Almost all the show's actors are hear to do their voices and the witty humor of Buffy is hear in full force. The only downside is that Sarah Michelle Gellar is absent from the game. The girl replacing her, though, does an amazingly good job. Sometimes you'll forget that it's not the real Buffy. Buffy's in-game phrases do tend to get a little repetitive though. But this minor flaw can definitely be ignored.
Suggestions: Keep up the good work. Nice multi-player modes. Add some more variety to the gameplay.

Overall: Ha, yes well i am an addict. I thought this game was great. I really loved it, but that migth be because im addicted to the TV series. I expected more, i have got to say that. But overall, i loved it. Its by far the most played x-box game i own. Thinking of buying another copy in case i wear this one out :P
Gameplay: Um, ok well at first the controls are difficult, but after maybe 2-5 mins you really get the hang of it, and its just like second nature to you. The Third person is a nice touch. Over all i thought the game play was good
Graphics: The visuals, first time i played this game there were times where i wasen't sure what was real and what wasen't. But after you play it enough it starts to look too animated. They could have done better with the mouth movements when they talk. But otherwise its great. Everything is graphic and very detailed. For example, when your playing the game, take out the crossbow near a charector and go into sniper mode so you can see their faces up close, there, thats detail!
Sound: The sound was great. I love how all the voices are their true voices, expect of course Buffy. That pissed me off, does SMG not have enough time?!?! Anyways, the screams of the vampires when they are being dusted and the creepy background music makes it great.
Suggestions: Yes, ok when the innocent people who you are saving from vampire ect walk away after you have finished saving them, They walk REALLY slow, and its stupid. And the actors need more, feeling in their voices, and the storyline was stupid and actually quite boring. The gameplay was great, the story was boring.

Overall: well, i love the show, and i'm not really into games, but i rented it and beat it in like 2 days... i mean, two days straight. after i beat it, i didn't think the replay value was really high. but then i started to have this itch to play it agin, so i bought it from my mall store, software etc. i just really liked the fighting style of it, and i hate fighting games, but this one is a definite keeper. now i play it in my spare time everday!!! i've already beat it three times, and am almost on my fourth, so it turns out that the replay value was higher than i thought it was.
Gameplay: i really liked the way she fought and the variety of monsters and stuff it had. and i love the way that you can get the camera to turn anyway, and it's placed on the pad so convieniently its definitly appealing.
Graphics: well, i thought the game buffy didn't look anything like the real buffy, but the after a while, the game buffy just takes on a whole persona of her own aside from buffy, so it doesn't bother me anymore.
Sound: well, i was kinda surprised to hear that buffy didn't do the voice... i ean, it's kinda obvious its not her, but there are some things sge says that are uncanny.
Suggestions: well, the one thing that really annoys me about this game is how much she repeats herself over and over. i thought there would be more of a variety of comments. after a while, it gets really old.

Overall: one of the best games ever i think. well second best Halo will always be #1 (well at least until #2 comes out)Another thing i love about this game is all the major charectors from seasons 1 & 2 are in it!!
Gameplay: i am almost done beating this game. another reason why im not done yet is because i always go back and play levels i have already defeated. i really like talking to the scobby gang. Xander, Willow, Giles, Cordelia and later on in the game Angel.
Graphics: the graphics are great. some of the best ive ever seen!! the water graphics are also top notch. I really hate it though that this game didnt sell a lot so there probaly wont be a sequel
8-(
Sound: like i said in all of my reviews i dont care about sound. I also like how a lot of the charectors from the show auctually do their voices in the game. Too bad Buffy herself (Sarah Michelle Geller)doesnt though.
Suggestions: try to advertise more and maybe next time more villians and weapons. And even though you might have not made a lot of money of this game.

Overall: this game is much better than i thought it was going to be. the only thing bad about it is the fact that u cant just run away from yout enemies, u must fight. overall this is a great game that far surpasted my expectations.
Gameplay: the controls are not that dificult i like the way they used the D-pad for the weapons. it is a great game but not every1 will like it. rent it before buying it
Graphics: the graphics are O.K.... but what more could u expect seeing as how it is a first and very original game. the graphics are horrible but they just are not realistic enough. seeing as how this is a ONLY FOR X BOX game i expected a lot more as far as the graohics are concerned. Another thing i dont like is when Buffy runs her !&%$@#* has this ugly little weird shadow under it
Sound: the sound is pretty. the tracks make it a fitting for what they are trying to do. i do hate the fact that Buffy says the same things over and over again but its always fitting for when she says it

Gameplay: The gameplay is much smoother than I expected. The controls are very responsive and you have great control during fights. Top Notch.
Graphics: Overall extremely good graphics. There are some jaggies out in the distance, but up close it is beautiful. The characters look great. I would have liked to see some more differences in the common vamps but overall great.

Overall: I've never seen an episode of Buffy, but the action in this game makes me wonder if the TV show is just as violent and cool. Was never interested at all in the game when i heard about it's release, but many months later after seeing it recieved a 9 in OXM list of reviewed games and i saw it for 29 bucks, i thought it was a safe purchase.
THIS GAME ROCKS!!! if you like the fast stylish hand to hand combat in the Blade 2 movie, i just can't see how that person won't like this game.
The game has a brief history of Buffy for those like me who have no clue about the show. there's a story that moves you thru the game, lots of effects, and just great combat locations and enemies.
I highly recommend this game, even if only to rent - though it's a great game to show your friends.
out of the 8 games i bought this weekend, (splinter cel, mechwarrior, steel batallion, deathrow, NHL2k3, RallySport Challenge, Ghost Recon, Buffy and XBLive,) Buffy has been in the tray the whole time (unless my friends were over for some multiplayer action.)
Gameplay: It's a great combat story game. the missions and story are there to move you through different levels and fight vampires. you have conversations with friends and they teach you new moves and make new vampire-hunter weapons. lots of different enemies along the way thru the story.
your surroundings play a large part in how you play this game. a wall, a fence or chair, can come into play when you're feeling against the ropes. so while the basic concepts of punch, kick throw combos is there, it's another thing to use them with style and to remember than you can throw an opponent in to a nearby fire or break a boarded up window to cast sunlight into the room if you don't have a trusty pointed object weapon handy.
Even when i finish this game I can see myself popping this game in every so often just to for some instant kick-booty action.
Graphics: great graphics. i was REALLY impressed with the textures in the environments especially Angel's apartment. hats off to the art team. the effects are great, especially the instant ash-disintigration-death. the animations are great.
The models are great, with animated faces. they use the game engine for story cut scenes.
SMG doesn't look like she does in the cover, but still a good 3d model. i think the face of the 3d model has too much cheek.
The vampires also have different styles of clothing, and they're well done. you have your grungy vampire, your half decaying vampire, skeletal corpse vampire, shiny black leather goth vampire, etc. and they all look good.
Sound: the sounds are all around good. my only complaint would be that the characters usually sound like they are not in the environment when they speak, as if the voice track was not adjusted with the rest of the sounds or something.
Suggestions: we NEED a sequel.

Overall: not being a big buffy fan, i was shocked to find how much fun this game was. its pretty much your typical beat-em-up type game w/ couple puzzles along the way. definitely a must have for fans of the show. this game is linear, but it offers extra modes such as an arena mode (basically a survival mode, where you battle tons of enemies until your health totally depletes).
Gameplay: this game really puts you into the shoes of the slayer. the controls are simple and intuitive. there are plenty of attack moves and they're all easily executed.

one of the things i didn't like is how the camera always resets to buffy's back when you move. most of the time this is good, but sometimes i wish the camera angle wouldn't change everytime i moved.

battles with two or more enemies can be frustrating at times. the targeting system isn't helpful when you are closely surrounded by enemies. there is no indication of which enemy you are focused on except by the direction buffy is facing.
Graphics: the graphics in this game are great. good textures, lighting, and particle effects (vampires turning to dust or burning up in flames) are present throughout the entire game. some of the character models (such as buffy) don't like like their real life counter parts, but are modeled extremely well.
Sound: the sound effects are excellent and authentic to the show. the music sets the tone for each level and also changes into an upbeat techno song when fighting enemies.
Suggestions: fix the camera so there is more freedom when you are walking/running. maybe a coop mode where your friend can play along as another character.

Overall: This game is so good that it actually made me start to follow the tv series which I enjoy very much.
I seldom get scared or spooked by a game but this game made me shiver more than once.
Gameplay: Controls are easy as pie after some getting used to. Left thumbstick for movement and right for camera etc. The fighting system is nothing short of amazing. The ability to change from punch to kick then back to punching and vice versa "on the fly" is extremely well executed and leaves alot of combos open (+50 moves according to the manual). Also the special Slayer kicks and punches are fantastic. I'm actually looking forward to the next fight feeling almost unbeatable after sending a vamp to hell. The use of many different "everyday" weapons such as baseball bats, brooms, rakes and the almighty Reaper just adds to the diversity.
I'm so amazed by this game that I'm currently re-completing it in "Hard" mode :)
Graphics: The graphics are amazing. This is a scary game and the atmosphere is caught perfectly with dark crypts lit by the odd torch and foggy cemetaries to the the evening glow lit Sunnydale High School. The way an opponent turns into burning dust when staked or reaper'd looks truly fantastic. The levels have a VERY realistic feel to them even though we are talking vamps and monsters here. Buffy is made to perfection, especially her face stands out, and the opposition is also very well made. A true joy to behold. Sometimes I find myself exploring and looking around just to see how well it's all done. I have completed the game and can say that no part of this game was a dissappointment for me. One of my favourite levels is the Dreamer's Realm - Islands. Xbox in scary games mode? = 2 thumbs up :)
Sound: This is a vital part of the game since it delivers all the creepy sounds and music. The sound effects are as to be expected by now = amazing and realistic giving the topic of the game. The dialog from the characters is so very funny and fits perfectly to this scary game and works surprisingly well.
To hear a vamp say "crap" after being staked always makes me laugh.
Buffy's lines never get boring for me and I didn't know until after I finished the game that it isn't Sarah Michelle Gellar that voices Buffy in the game. Who ever did the Buffy voice work sure fooled me good = very well done. Music or general soundtrack is scary and hauntingly beautiful and fits right in this genre. 5.1 just makes matters worse in the good way = I get scared stiff often by the eerie sounds creeping up on me. TOP MARKS !!
Suggestions: Since you did such a great job in this game I do hope you will make a sequel and this time please get the REAL Buffy to do voices. Her stand-in did an excellent job but to give us hardcore fans a true Buffy feel this would be greatly appreciated.
Also consider adding more Slayers.

Overall: Very impressive game. Was not expecting it to be so good. Read reviews...people were saying it was good...they were right!
Gameplay: Great gameplay. Interesting levels. Good difficulty. Fun. Creative. Nice long game. Everything is so !&%$@#* fluid.
Graphics: Excellent graphics and animations. Good colors. I like the way the vampires jump off the roofs and chase you down. Nice.
Sound: Great sound. Nice music. Nice sound effects. Excellent voice work by whoever did Buffy. Voices are good with all characters.
Suggestions: Make the vampires have a lot more sound bytes that they can utter out every so often. "You want a piece of me? I'll give you the whole !&%$@#* pie!" That was about my favorite. Make a bunch of different ones so they hardly every get repeated.

Overall: This game is an absolute blast. If you feel like beating a game, play it. If you feel like kicking some !&%$@#* for only 10 minutes, go for it. Any way you slice it, this game is pure fun. I was a little worried they wouldn't capture the essence of the TV show. I was gladly wrong. They did a superb job of capturing all the fun of the show into this video game. Even if you are not a fan of the TV series, this is a can't miss.
Gameplay: I thought the joystick would be awkward and I was wrong about this too. It is very easy to move around and much better than games like Tomb Raider.
Graphics: How abou visually stunning. The characters look great. The vampires look great. And Buffy looks great in those leather pants still.
Sound: I love hearing vamps talk some junk to you before you kick their asses. All characters sound realistic and are actually a joy to listen what they have to say. All other noises and music make sense throughout the game. I also enjoy the train sound.
Suggestions: Not really. How about give us a second title next year with Buffy a little older? Possibly when Spike is on the gang's side?

Overall: If you are a Buffy fan this game is a must have title. If not, this game is near the top of the must have list. The storyline is like a Buffy episode, the dry humour is there, and the voice acting is excellent. The various aspects of this game whilst I don't rate them all as absolutely the best, they are right up there near the best and the fact that they are all consistently good, gives this game a 5/5, it is a great game. My kids love it, I love it, hell even the wife will sit down and watch me play it.
Gameplay: The gameplay is what makes this game so much fun. It plays very similar to a fighting game. As Buffy you can punch or kick, you can string combos together. If you time it right you can hit some slayer moves, which is effectively a powerful punch. There are also special combos you learn from Giles. One of the really cool parts of this game is the ability to use the environment to your advantage. Smash some boards off a boarded up window and allow sunlight to stream through, smack a vampire into the sunlight, he's dust. Kick a vamp onto a protruding piece of wood, he's dust. The only minor quibbles I have with this game is that multiple opponents are a little frustrating to deal with, and jumping can be inaccurate, but these are VERY minor quibbles.
Graphics: Graphically Buffy is sound. The character animations are great, the environments are really well done. The lightings is atmospheric and spooky, which is cool. The character faces could do with a little more work, but overall, it's all good.
Sound: Dolby 5.1 is used really well in this game, the sound effects are excellent. The add a nice atmosphere. The voice acting is great, with the exception of Buffy all the characters are the voices of the actors in the series, and the sound-a-like for Buffy is very good. After 10 minutes of playing I forgot it was a voice-a-like. The only let down for this is sometimes the soundtrack doesn't quite gel with the rest of the game. The hardout rock tracks in the middle of battle, for me, didn't fit in very well, but this is minor, very minor.
Suggestions: A sequel, yesterday would be good. Multiplayer, where you could play as one of the Scoobies or Angel, or even another slayer, (Kendra, Faith). Finally Sarah Michelle Gellars voice as Buffy.

Gameplay: Run , jump , punch , kick , steak , use cool weapons like a rake . Well , it's good enough for me anyway .
Graphics: Graphically , this game is pure quality . It perfectly re-creates the Sunnydale atmosphere . Buffy looks great too ;)
Sound: Apart from Mrs prinze junior , all the regular actors from the show lend their vocal talents . Also , the awesome sound that happens when you steak a vamp is in there......Genius !

Overall: It's great. I've played it for some nights with my girl friend now, and we're just sitting there, amazed at how this game scares us
Gameplay: This game has got excellent gameplay. You can pick up showels, rakes , stakes etc. and beat the hell out of your opponent, or you can try to create combo's of kicks and punches.
Graphics: The details in this game is right up there with the best of them. Buffy looks amazing, and the detail of the dungeons, buildings and cemetarys is just brilliant.
Sound: WOW! Maybe it's bebause I only own 3 games, but the sound in this one is enough to send chills down my back all night. It is fantastically scaring!

Overall: this game is ok. but it could be a littl bit better by means of more weapons and more gore. but it was ok. but because of the gameplay hire it don't buy it, thats my oppinion.
Gameplay: gameplay wasn't bad, after all you got to kick the sh@! out of vampires and the like, but there were a few things that could be improved. for example:the weapons are prety poor. wow you get a stake, a shovel, a water pistol that squirts holy water and hell fire onto enemies, a vial of holy, a broom and a crossbow. where are all the swords and axes that she uses, thats a bit sh@! if you ask me. another thing is that the there is no gore in the game. the enemies don't even bleed.the final thing is that when you are dusting a vamp they don't zoom in on it. when you zoom in on a finishing move it just seems more fun. apart from all this it is ok. i don't mind beating the doors off of vampires and the like. so i tell you "because of game play factors hire it don't by it", just like i said before.
Graphics: the visual appeal was not bad. it does not go beyond what the xbox can do but, it wasn't bad. Infact i wa quite impressed.all they need to do, is exactly what i said before. "zoom in on the staking and defeating of enemies.
Sound: not bad, i was pretty impressed with this aswell. they really added sound when you killed an enemy. that was pretty good. excelent sound.
Suggestions: just to zoom in when killing an enemy

Overall: This game is MAD! If your a fan of Buffy you must buy this game it is a show case of how to use a T.V licence but more importantly how to make a good game.
Even if you don?t like buffy U will enjoy this masterpiece.

Gameplay: Smooth controls along with challenging levels (without being too hard) make buffy a great joy to play. The addition of all the real cast members of the show (except Buffy) really adds to the game.
SHERE FUN

Graphics: The graphics of this game could not be pulled of in any other console other than the xbox! Very smooth visuals. Character builds are realistic and environments are great.
Sound: The sound is top notch also the music is extremely atmospheric and is reminiscent of the End of days music score with a touch of buffy(and who wouldn?t mind a touch of Buffy lol)
Suggestions: Make Buffy 2. Do it now!

Overall: This game is going to make a fortune. It plays as a lost episode from between seasons 2 and 3. You kind of have to have watched the show to get the way the characters relate to each other. The good news is if you aren't a fan of the show you will still totally enjoy this game. It is that good. The appeal will vary, though, depending on if you are a fan of the show or not. If you aren't a fan of the show, this game will be one that you should definately buy and you will enjoy it immensely. If you are a fan of the show, this game is a must have and it will be one of your favorite games if not your favorite game. The developers got everything perfect, with the small exception of Willow's face. All the faces of all the other characters are perfectly rendered. The storyline is just like one of the shows on television. The environments are spooky, but very familiar to Buffy fans. All the details have been covered to deliver an almost perfect Buffy experience.
Gameplay: The gameplay is as good as it gets. The combat takes just a little getting used to. The cool thing about the combat that makes the game more interesting is that if you use the same moves over and over a lot, the enemies will learn your style and will block your attacks if you do not vary them. Staking vampires is fun, not too difficult, and looks as good as it does on the show. A big plus is being able to get stakes by breaking wood. The ability to stake a vampire that is behind you is also an added bonus, not to mention looks very cool. The crossbow takes some getting used to, but the sniper zoom is a big help since only the heart counts. The ability to knock or throw vampires into pointy objects that dust them is a lifesaver, especially if you are out of stakes. Last but not least, slayer power moves add a lot to the fun factor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There is so much cool gameplay that I'm sure that I'm leaving something out, but the game play, as I said, is as good as it gets.
Graphics: The visuals are almost perfect. The only visual shortcoming of the whole game is Willow's face. Alyson Hannigan looks MUCH better than that and it looks kind of dark. All the other faces are perfectly rendered. The environments and enemies are well done and are very familiar to fans of the show. The environments look as real as they do on the television. The high school, the old Spanish Mission, the graveyard are all included and look amazing. The visuals could not get any better if not for the one flaw in the rendering of Willow's face.
Sound: The sounds are incredible. Dolby Digital never sounded so good. The music is as good as it gets and really gets you into the mood of the game. The fact that all but one of the characters have voice overs done by the actual actors is a major plus. Giles sounds like Giles, Spike sounds like Spike, and so on. The only flaw is that the voice of Buffy isn't done by Sarah Michelle Gellar. The girl who does Buffy's voice, however, does an excellent job and you really can't tell the difference. All in all, the sound is perfect.
Suggestions: Fix Willow's face and make a sequel. You could make a FORTUNE on this game if you kept producing sequels that are as well done as this one. Props to EA for finally not making a port for xbox, but I guess Fox Interactive should get the credit for that.

Overall: I waited for this game since december when i JUST found out it was supposed to be released in March but now i have it and ITS MINE. I love this game. Buy it, dont rent it. This is a great game to have. I often find myself booting up the xbox just to slay a vamp on one of the levels, and quit. I give this game a straight out five on EVERYTHING.
Gameplay: Just so you know, it doesnt state this ON the box the game comes in, there IS a multiplayer mode. Which is a great thing to add for this game. Theres contrasting levels, and you can re visit any level beaten. The save points make it challenging enough so its not just a breezy walkthrough. And this is a greatly unique game. Plus there are many opportunitys where your enviroment is your absolute best friend (throw a vampire into a piece of sharop wood and poof! or holy water into a pool, and then the vampire in there, very cool. The contoller layout is simple enough too.
Graphics: Very awesome. You should see the way a vampire dust when you put a stake through his heart. Or a vampire that has been set fire too. The enviroment can be very dark sometimes, however, this is easily fixed by adjusting the brightness in the options or the actual TV. The enemies have been cared for meticulously, but the same cannot be said for poor butchered willow.
Sound: The music plays well with the surroundings. But there are some errors. A vampire saying stuff after dead (well, staked, cause vampires are already dead). Or a gate opening with delayed sound reaction. The sound isnt too important in this game though. Plus you can always play a cd and turn the game on mute, and turn captions on for character bytes. Normally i hate captions, but this is small enough to glance at and not interrupt gameplay.
Suggestions: SEQUEL! SEQUEL! Ummm other than that...good job, and the reason i will get tired more than a month from now, but less than 6 months is cause of multiplayer. The story mode is good, but not that good.

Overall: When I first got my Xbox, I was waiting for two key games- One of which was Buffy. Now I have Buffy, I can say that it was and was not what I expected. I expected the graphics of the characters to look like it was on an Xbox game, for one. But under the hard shell of Buffy, is one fun game. Pitty it is too short and has little replay value...
Gameplay: Buffy is a suprisingly fun game. Throwing a vampire onto the path of an incoming train was a real rush! Buffy can stake vampires when they are upright or down for the count- it doesn't matter how high their health is- if it hits the heart its good night Irene! Crossbows feature- zooming in and hitting a vamp from 100 yards away is really good fun- especially seeing the looks on their faces just before they explode! Buffy can best be described as an Action RPG
Graphics: The graphics of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are terrible. Spike, Giles, Willow and friends all have jaggies on them- Nothing like EA's other games. On the bright side, Buffy's eyes move and Vamps change their facial expression after they get staked- just before they explode!
Sound: The main theme song from the show is there, along with some other spooky tunes that will raise the tension. Willow, Xander and friends are played by their real life counterparts, although Buffy is played by a very good sound-a-like. Buffy's comments become very repetitive over awhile- the same can also be said of the Vampires smug talk just before they say 'Hi' to the sharp end of a stake!!!
Suggestions: Better Graphics will do us. Plus, please get Sarah Michelle Gellar to do the voice of Buffy in the sequel (You are going to have a sequel-aren't you).

Overall: This game is a blast you get to beat the crap out of Vampires, what could be more fun than that. You don't even have to be a fan of the TV show to like this game, if your into beat'em ups this game should be in your collection.
Gameplay: The fighting part of the game is awesome, in fact it's the best one I've ever played. You can pull off some crazy combos and the slayer powered moves (which are like bullet time moves with a crazy glow to them) are a nice finishing touch to a series of vampire crushing blows. I do have a problem with the jumping portions of the game especially in the last few levels. The controls aren't precise enough for accurate jumping and get very frustrating. Not to mention you will often spend some time getting through these jumping puzzles and end up falling to your death on the last one only to be put back at the beginning of of the level to experience all the frustrastion over again. Luckily the frustrating jumping problems are only a small portion of the game.
Graphics: The graphics are well done and the animation is really fluid. The levels are large and beautifully done. On a down note quite a few jaggies show up from time to time and plague the cutscenes. The graphics are top rate during gameplay.
Sound: The sound is fantastic, I have a Dolby 5.1 system hooked up to the ol Xbox and the surround sound is awesome. The rear channels are well used and add depth to the atmosphere of the game.
Suggestions: Remove the difficult jumping parts and add more fighting.

Overall: This game is pretty fricken fun...It has ok controls.....good graphics...cool storyline and nice sound. I'm just giving it a 4 cause it has near no reply value which can get boring.....well everythings pretty good except the value.
Gameplay: The controls are kinda well done except the B btuuon is jump which is awqard...oh well its still pretty good. But then the reply value is no good which makes it worse.
Graphics: The visuals are great! the actual characters kinda look like the real ones! then all the vampires and enviroment is well done with the braking chairs to get stakes and stakes and rakes brake after a bit.
Sound: The sounds of the vampires/demons grunting and making their devilish cries after being slaughter is great...Then the little music fits with the game and is pretty good.
Suggestions: Reply value...or multiplayer of some sort....or it would be cool if you could be the vampirres and kill the humans then buffies thr boss.

Overall: I Don't really watch the show at all, but I thought I'd pick up this game for some entertainment over this past weekend. Boy, am I happy I did. I was more than happy with the game. Visuals were nice, gameplay was tight, and the humor (though cheesy) was entertaining.
Gameplay: Controls were done rather well. The ability to choose WHICH attack you want to do, as oppsed to blind button mashing, was nice. This said, you could do almost any attack to get you out of a tough spot. The levels are rather short (between saves), but this is a good thing (because dying really sucks when you havent saved in 2 hours). There were only a few times that the controls caused me problems, and that was just do to falling off cliffs do to the triple kick combo - through the air, and off the edge! WHEEEAAAAHHHH!!!
Graphics: Graphics were done well. For the most part the characters looked like their real life counterparts. Buffy looked a little round faced, but better than Sarah Michelle Gellar. The skies, enviroments, and effects were done rather well. I was surprised.
Sound: The sound was actually terrific. I rated it a "5". Though, no where as good as Halo, it deserved a "5" for THIS genre of gameplay. The music was fitting to the particular mood, and most importantly, the dialouge did NOT get annoying/too repetative.
Suggestions: I would like to see a multiplayer version, but that may be fitting for this game.
