Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

Overall: I played this game several months ago. I can't get over how many people loved this game. I thought it was completely lame. I totally lost interest after a few hours of gameplay. Very dull.

Gameplay: I found this game to be extrememly boring. I could not get into it at all. Just another shooter. If the game can't draw you in at the beginning it has a serious design flaw.

Graphics: Graphics did not impress me in the least. I don't know what all the hoopla is about. Unless they get better as the game progresses... they sure weren't anything to write home about at the beginning. Dark and dreary 'seen it all before' type graphics.

Audio: I don't remember the sound to be that great. Standard sounds. Nothing memorable. Blah Blah Blah Blah.

Overall Score: 3.0 / 10 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Overall: I think I'm getting too old for these type of games. Just a bunch of button mashing madness. You get surrounded and just keep pushing the buttons and hope you hit something. Too bad you can't hit and block at the same time. This is the most frustrating game I have ever played.

Gameplay: Push your buttons on your controller as fast as you can. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING game. Very hard even on easy setting. You almost make it to the end of the level, then you die, guess what? You gotta repeat all that crap again that you just got through. Do you think I really wanna do that? Is that your idea of fun? I thought a 'game' was spose to be fun?

Graphics: Graphics are some of the best I've seen. I really likes the graphics and animation a lot. Too bad you can't base a game on that though.

Audio: Sound is perfect. Some of the music is taken right from the movie. I recognize some of the voices as the same as the movie.

Suggestions: Get rid of the checkpoint bullcrap. Allow the user to save anywhere, anytime.

Overall Score: 3.0 / 10 The Suffering

Overall: Very fun game. It had a lot of polish and was very addicting to play. It wasn't overyly hard or frustrating.

Gameplay: You go around the prison and island blowing things away with the weapons you find. You're trying to escape the island. The story unfolds bit by bit. Great interface. Great pacing. You can save anywhere! There are a few little puzzles that you encounter along the way that are just enough of a challenge to keep things interesting.

Graphics: Graphics were top notch. Very realistic. Lots of different locations to visit...inside and outside. No complaints here.

Audio: Sound effects and voice acting were were believable and added to the enjoyment of the game. I don't see how it could be much better.

Suggestions: No. Keep making good games like this.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Enclave

Overall: This game could have been great if they wouldn't have made it so hard and allowed the player to save it anywhere in each level that he wanted.

Gameplay: Too hard. You almost make it through the level then you die. Then you have to repeat it again and again. Way too frustrating. This game also suffers greatly from character slowdown. When there's more than a few enemies on the screen at the same time and they are close to you, the game starts going in slow motion. It gives the game a cheezy feel.

Graphics: Graphics, although not sharp and crisp, have a lot of variety to them. The artist did a good job. ...

Audio: The sound is good. Nothing wrong with the sounds or the music. Keeps the mood right. ................

Suggestions: Allow the user to save the game ANYTIME he wants. Repetition is for people that like to exercise, not for gamers that work a full time job.

Overall Score: 3.0 / 10 Arx Fatalis

Overall: Boring. Terrible Automap!!!!!!!!!!!! Clumsy interface. I just can't get into this game. It's all been done before and doesn't break any new ground. I would probably love this game if it game out 10-15 years ago.

Gameplay: Your basic dungeon crawl. Been there, done that. This game takes a step back, not forward. I really wanted to like it.

Graphics: The graphics, although fairly realistic looking, are very bland and uninteresting. Poor resolution. Yucky.

Audio: No music in the game, just a bunch of repetative sounds FX here and there. Voice acting is so so. Some of the voices don't seem to fit the characters too well.

Suggestions: First, work on the graphics. Then work on the interface. Make it fun, don't make it seem like work.

Overall Score: 5.0 / 10 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Overall: Amazing game! I loved it. Heard a lot of good things about it so I went out and bought it. The first 5 minutes of the game I wasn't sure I was gonna like it. But, after about 30, I was getting into it pretty nicely. This is a must get game!

Gameplay: The gameplay is half fighting, half puzzles. Loved the fighting! Very cool! Some of the battles are a little tough, but by your 3rd or 4rth attempt you should be able to get through them. (I like to use the arial view during combat..makes it a little easier to me) The cinematic feel of the game is nice. I like how my little bow and arrow friend kept finding 'cracks' to slip through...very funny!

Graphics: Graphics are great! Couldn't ask for much more. Lots to look at. Lots of different places to explore.

Audio: Sound is very accomodating. The music is appropriate and the sound effects and voice acting is perfect. No complaints here.

Suggestions: 1. Let the player be able to control the 'camera' better. There are some places in the game where it is hard to see where you're spose to jump due to the weird angle. (even using first person and arial view you still can't tell sometimes!)
2. The 'preview' of what's to come that you see after you save your game is too long and starts to get annoying about 1/4 through the game.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

Overall: Eh.... I just don't like it that much. I played Dungeon Siege on the PC right before I played this game. I liked Dungeon Siege much better. This game is just too tedious and it's just plain out not very enjoyable.

Gameplay: This game basically consists of charging an enemy (one at a time), loosing about 3/4'ths of your heath, and then having to go run and hide in a corner somewhere where the monsters can't see you so you can regenerate your heath meter. IT GETS OLD. I sit there and flip to watch the TV every few minutes while my heath is regenerating. It takes forever and a freakin day. Sure, you can buy heath potions, but you go through those in about 2 seconds.

Another thing I don't like about this game is the perspective on which you view the game world. It's almost like, top down. I wish it was more 3D...real like. The view the designers chose is crappy.

Another thing I don't like is that, after the first little part of the game, you are unable to move the 'camera' around. It's fixed. What type of crap is that? Give me a little freedom here why don't ya? I felt like I was playing a game for the Atari at times.

Graphics: The graphics, althouh, as I said, I can't stand the perspective, are great. It's a shame all that talent was wasted on lame gameplay.

Audio: The sounds and background music is terrific. Very impressed with that. Voice acting is pretty good too.

Suggestions: Play Dungeon Siege on the PC and take notes.

Overall Score: 4.0 / 10 Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Overall: Very impressive game. Was not expecting it to be so good. Read reviews...people were saying it was good...they were right!

Gameplay: Great gameplay. Interesting levels. Good difficulty. Fun. Creative. Nice long game. Everything is so !&%$@#* fluid.

Graphics: Excellent graphics and animations. Good colors. I like the way the vampires jump off the roofs and chase you down. Nice.

Audio: Great sound. Nice music. Nice sound effects. Excellent voice work by whoever did Buffy. Voices are good with all characters.

Suggestions: Make the vampires have a lot more sound bytes that they can utter out every so often. "You want a piece of me? I'll give you the whole !&%$@#* pie!" That was about my favorite. Make a bunch of different ones so they hardly every get repeated.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

Overall: Completed the game. It rocked! If you liked the book and the movie, you will like the game too. The game is a little lopsided in that you will spend more than half your time in the mines of moria, but, I'd rather spend more time there anyway. Its a more interesting place than Hobbitan. The game has a nice professional polish to it..unlike other games (Enclave)

Gameplay: You can save anywhere you want--geez! the game already gets a 4.0 just for having that feature. This game has a very low frustration rate. Not too hard...yet its no piece of cake either. Perfect difficulty. The combat system is very good and easy to get the hang of. The game pulls you in and keeps you interested. When you get done with the game you actually feel a sense of enjoyment, not the hatred I usually feel after playing a video game.

Graphics: Graphics are very nice. A little washed out and drabish (should have made the colors a little more vibrant in the shire), especially towards the beginning of the game...and a little too darkish in some spots of moria, but overall they are very sweet with a lot of detail. Cut scene animations are perfect!

Audio: Sound/music is great. Voice acting is decent. I'm so use to the voices of the actors in the movie that it takes a while to get use to the 'new' voices in the game.

Suggestions: Great job! Bring on the Two Towers!

Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Hunter: The Reckoning

Overall: It started off pretty good. But got old as the game progressed. This game is too frustrating. The zombies just appear right on top of you when you're running (that's no fair) and do major damage to you before you can react. On some levels it appears that you can never kill all the zombies. They just keep reappearing out of thin air. It gets old. Although, I played the game Nightcaster, which is similar, but in Nightcaster you can destroy the pods that produce the enemies. This makes it much more enjoyable. In Hunter they just keep coming, like mail if you worked at the post office.

Gameplay: The gameplay just gets too frustrating and repetitious after a while. I'm about 3/4's through the game but I just don't have the enthusiasm to finish it.

Graphics: Graphics are very nice and fluid. Animations are good. Atmosphere is nice. Intro at the beginning is a little choppy.

Audio: Didn't really notice much of the sound. It's nothing too great. Occasionally you'll pick up a machine gun and some gritty heavy metal will play--that's kinda cool.

Suggestions: Don't make so many zombies. Make the levels bigger. Focus more on exploration rather than trigger happiness. Once you kill a zombie, make him stay dead.

Overall Score: 5.0 / 10 Nightcaster: Defeat The Darkness

Overall: I liked it. Very addicting. Can be tedious at times, but if you stick with it till the end you should be a happy camper.

Gameplay: The game play is quite fantic and tedious yet rewarding at the same time. Once you have finally cleared an area of baddies you feel good and well, joyous.

Graphics: I loved the graphics. Very nice color schemes. The spells had nice graphics too. Bigger and better as you progress through the game.

Audio: Sound was good too. Especially the sounds of the spells going off. Oh and the music you hear when you run accross the next mushroom patch/save game area...that music is entrancing.

Suggestions: don't have an overhead and 3d view. just have the 3d one.

Overall Score: 9.0 / 10
