Overall: I was at first questionable about this game. However, when I started playing it the more I seemed to like it. It's kinda like GTA, but yet it's different. Different things you can do, a way different story line, and so fourth.
Gameplay: Gameplay, I wasn't completely jumping up and joy about. However, it wasn't horrible. I enjoyed the game, and I loved knocking around guys. It's cool to frisk people to see if the people on the streets are packing illegal items with them. If so then you can handcuff them. It's great to know you can do this even when you are not on missions. Also driving cars you can shoot behind you as well as infront of you, which is different when comparing to GTA.
Graphics: I also didn't think this was the best. Everything looked ok, I just think if this game had better graphics it would of made a stronger game.
Sound: No complaints here. It had decent music, and the people actually talked instead of some games where you just read the subtitles. Which to me makes the game just as boring.
Suggestions: I would suggest better graphics, and a more variety of cars to drive. If they step up and make a few tweaks and have a stronger storyline, this game could compete with the so common GTA.

Overall: True Crime is a freeroaming, gangslaying, crime solving, spree killing action Xbox game. With over 40 square miles of map, True Crime gives the player the freedom to follow the storyline (which is fairly short) or to just have fun beating people up or shooting cars.
Gameplay: The gameplay in True Crime is very comparable to GTA, but nowhere near as finished. In TC you can enter your fighting mode where you have the ability to throw down your moves onto your opponent at close range, or you can whip out your arsenal and blast away. The storyline is fairly short and has multiple endings which makes it better and worse at the same time.
Graphics: The graphcs in TC are good - great. The map itself is huge and full of detail, although filling up 40 square miles with buildings is fairly difficult so you will see a lot of repeating structures.
Sound: The sounds in TC are nothing above average. Your charcater makes many funny remarks throughout the game but those can get old quickly.
Suggestions: Fix up the little things... mabye shrink the map - increase missions.

Overall: A game of drth and kung-fu.In the immense and accurately mapped city of L.A. You use a variety of weapons, which include knives, pipeggers, swords etc...
Gameplay: The Gameplay is the downfall of this game. It takes a while to understand. (You have to read manual to understand controls) The targeting and driving is incredibly hard.
Graphics: The visual in this game is decent and sometimes okay. The huge map they created is awesome and most buildings look pretty good. Good Job on this part!
Sound: Well it has a great sound track including Snoop Dogg and Trapt. The voice acting is really good. The car and bullet sounds aren't the greatest.
Suggestions: Continue to make a large city and improve the gameplay. Then i'll consider buying True Crimes 2.

Overall: You play Nick a cop that doesn't like to follow rules been done before, but even though its not to the level of the GTA series it still has good things going for it and it defeintly worth a rental, you'll beat it pretty fast and its not all that hard but still a great game, go out rent it now and buy later.
Gameplay: The gamplay is great you can use hand to hand combat or guns a blazing both lots of fun. The hand to hand is done great with lots of combos and different things to do plus the upgrades just excellent, of course it wouldn't be good if the shooting wasn't great to, some people don't like it but I do, you have the option to slow down time like Max Payne really cool, a couple different wepons, like assult rifle and other guns you would find in any other game plus the upgrades of guns and manuvers means you'll spend lots of time on it, next is the driving the best part is you can slow down time while driving and shot, totaly blows away anything GTA has, but the city is to big you'll drive for five minutes just to get somwere not fun, so driving is pretty sucky in missions but just crusin is fun, now the best part, Street Crimes you drive around till you find a crime going on and your job is to arest the crimal one of the best parts of the game but gets old after a while, mainly tons of fun till you've done everything then its boring so rent it have fun and return it.
Graphics: Visualy it recreats the entire city of LA, thats not to much of a good thing cause its to big you'll drive for ten minutes just to get to the other side and figure out theres nothing there to great, I like the idea just not to fun, the people look good, cutsences are good, car models look like big boxes pretty much not that good and they should have done alot better, mainly the graphics are alright car models suck but all in all it alright.
Sound: Voice acting is pretty good, shots of guns good, but the music they give you while your driving blows and theres no stations so no changing the channel for somthing good, doesn't make sence to me, however it all goes away with the costume soundtrack feature so you could listen to Elvis while driving if you want to.

Overall: An excellent combination of Driving/Shooting and Fighting, in the one of the world's great cities, LA. 240 square miles accurately mapped, assortments of weapons from knives, katana blades, wrenches, 9mm Pistols, Assault Rifles and even a grenade launcher. A variety of cars to 'jack' for police business, for car chases, for car shootouts for escaping from pursuers. Fighting with Kung-Fu on sidewalks or in the middle of a street against parole violators/halle cherry/miguel jackson etc.
Random street crimes are excellent especially when you're given the chance to break up a group of violent protesters, protesting against 'violent computer games'.
Gameplay: While the story is the typical suspended cop right from the beginning, playing through the first chapter of several levels really gets the game going. It depends on the person how frustrating the controls can be, but if you're as hardcore as some of the people out there it won't take you long to master. The most important point in the game is for me is firstly 240 square miles of LA accurately mapped, the Staples Center is there and so is the LA Convention center where they host E3. Most exciting however was travelling in game to places I've actually been to in LA, eg Venice Beach and Beverley Hills. The sheer size of the environment, a metropolis means there's going to be driving involved.
The driving engine is fine, the cars handle predictably and the ability to earn 'driving skills' makes it all the more fun. Especially when performing a switchblade to turn your car 180 degrees to shoot at your pursuers. A downside is the variety of civillian cars is small but there's a bit of everything, from the sedan to a more expensive 'Mercedes Benz' type cars. Then there's the 4WD's, pickups, tuned up Lancer type cars, Buses, IceCream trucks. After driving around for 30 minutes it's easy to see why LA is the city for car chases, wide roads, and even on minor roads 3 lanes on each side. Nick Kang's personal cars upgrade from a classic car to a muscle car, then to a Dodge Viper (2001 version, howeverin game called a Roadster), and then to a Ferrari 360 Spyder (2003, ingame called a sports car.)
On to the shooting, the game has 2 modes of shooting, the usual typical-autoaim and then aim mode. Typical of the movies and games recently there are 'bullet-time' aspects that can be used, for example pressing and holding the Y-button will make Nick Kang dive (you can shoot while doing this), whereas a tap will make him roll. Missions typically for shooting are made even better by the ability to pick up weapons dropped by foes, and the ability to have 2 weapons at a time. Nick Kang's personal weapons move up in caliber from .38's to .50 Desert Eagles. Aim-mode is particularly important for resolving crimes or ending a car-chase quickly. You can neutralise foes via shooting them in the hands or legs, or you can go the way of the 'bad-cop' by shooting them in the head. These aim spots also apply to vehicles, in car chases shooting out the tires of the criminal will slow them down, but a bullet placed correctly will in typical movie style explode the car forcing the occupant to get out.
The fighting, hand-to-hand that is, can be frustrating but comes to be an important part of the game to get good at, fortunately more powerful finishing moves can be 'learnt' by training at fighting dojo's scattered through out the city. From uppercuts to 'tiger sweeps' Nick Kang's fighting moves also include special grapples that produces the great sound of hearing the bones in your foes arms snap. Fortunately you can move the camera around using the right-stick to help you in 'blocking' your opponents attempts to hit you.
The storyline while advertised as branching is not actually as complicated as it sounds. Basically how well you did the previous mission determines whether you can proceed to the best ending.
Street Crimes occur randomly as you travel through the city, from muggers/car-jackers/drug dealers the variety is almost endless. They can be ignored if you wish, but as a warning I ignored too many drug transactions and inevitably when attempting to resolve one, found at least 12 criminals with large assault rifles in large trucks already shooting at me. The occurence of crimes is also based on localities, ie in Beverly Hills there are usually less car-jackings and crimes typical of lower class areas. In lower class areas muggers often occur more often. While in downtown there are usually more bank jobs or more high-profile crimes. Then there's always the illegal street races that need to be stopped.
As for bugs, sometimes you can play for a couple of hours without a single one and at other times be completely frustrated by it. Overall a great game, just like the action in movies typical of 'Bad Boys'.
Graphics: The game is visually attractive, it doesn't seem to use all of the XBOX, but it looks great. The environment, the post boxes, the trash cans, lightposts, palm trees all add up. The cars are modelled well and look even better as they gradually recieve damage to them (flat tyres, broken windshields). The character models are probably the best of the lot. Only a slight upgrade is needed in this department. I would never demand of the developing team to actually recreate exactly each and every building in LA. The most important landmarks are certainly there.
Sound: The sound effects are excellent, when approaching a crime scene of a bank robbery and hearing a large volume of rapid machine gun fire means bad news. The car horns/the sirens the things the civillians say everything is great. The cultural diversity of LA is even adressed as some of the asian criminals will say 'goodbye Supercop' in cantonese. The conversations in story points are excellent, with the voices of Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Michelle Rodrieguez and Russel Wong (Romeo Must Die).
Then the music is great, eg Nerd - Rockstar Poser, Taproot - Poem, Deftones - Minerva. Only problem with the 'cruising tracks' is that they don't continue playing when you exit the car, a new song is played when you enter another vehicle.
Suggestions: While probably unattractive a 2 player element, not multiplayer, but more like 2 partners in a Cooperative single player campaign could work well. This would work superbly in shoot outs.
The best situation however is car to car shoot outs. While Nick Kang is limited to using a single sidearm when shooting at an escaping criminal, 2 players would change this. All of Nick Kang's cars are open tops, a second player could potentially be sitting in the other seat using a long-rifle and helping out. Player 1 does the driving & shooting, Player 2 uses a larger weapon.

Overall: this game has the potential to be great, but gets too caught up in it's own mistakes, and flaws to come even close to that... overall a dissapointment
Gameplay: one of the biggest dissapointments of this game was the driving... and , well... it's one of the main parts of the game... the cars handle terribaly, and unrealisticly. also the shooting mode is awful... this game attempts to be realistic, but has a crap shooting system, driving style, and has ghosts, and flying firedemons...??? whats up with that?!? GAMEPLAY: NOT GOOD!
Graphics: graphics arent that bad, in some places quite good, but in others they are awful...also when on the street you always see the same characters evrywhere... there should be more characters to eliminate the possibility of seeing loads of them altogether... does not use the xbox's graphical power... should be alot better
Sound: gun sounds, and music are good enough, but cars dont sound great, and at the end of evry mision you get a real corny phrase..... that is annoying!!! overall: sound reppetative but average
Suggestions: change the game completly, improve the driving, shooting, graphics... evrything! and either go for a realistic game, or a fantasy/sci-fi game..... THE TWO DONT MIX!!!

Overall: This is a good action game that has touches of other games in it. It has a main cop character who tries to solve crime in a city that has enough problems as it is. Very good story and acting. This game from what i read has gotten alot of slack, im here to say the truth about this game for what it is, not like all the people who had too high expectations for this game.
Gameplay: At first the controls can get a bit getting use to, but once you have the hang of it the game gets really good. Driving is very realistic from the streets to the shiny car windows to the running over people (dont do if you need good cop status, i learned the hard way) tearing down trees, thier are really good car chases between the bad guys and you, intense shootouts....very well done. You also get to fight hand to hand combat which also needs getting use to but after you get a hold of it you feel like your actually fighting the other person. I think this game takes on a new level of realism, it makes the player practice at EVERYTHING, but its well worth it due to making the player feel involved within the whole city. AND THE CITY IS HUGE it has the main citys of LA, like i said just the main not the so called other la cities as i seen that were left out. I read before that some say it doesnt have harddrive music capabilities, well to you ,,,your wrong dude, it has a customizable list which you can set your own music to cruising music fast pace music or slow music, i used all my music form the harddrive becouse some of the in game music i wasnt into.
Graphics: It is ok, bearable, nice relections from the glass on cars and in buildings, thier is usual town settings, well animated people, nice care models, this game is normal, not too extravagent graphics but its ok. This means on thier next game it should do the graphics better. The in game cut scenes are done well including the story and voice acting which all added to this good game.
Sound: All the sounds are thier form a city, good voice acting and from some well known actors. This game seems to be more of a movie that just so happened to be a game, and with more titles to work on in the future i see as only getting better.
Suggestions: You done a good job barrowing from some of the well known games, like midtown madness for the car shapes and feel, gta for the endless feel of the game, max payne for the story line, dead to rights for the fighting shooting aspect, all these games you borrowed from were good, but with this next game put different music ganres becouse people in LA dont only listen to Rap, we also listen to other types like ROCK! also in the next game revamp your good cop bad cop thing, becouse its very hard to be good due to the people you arrest are always resiting and they seem to always need to be shot down...but then i get bad cop status???/ REDO THAT, but other then that good job.

Overall: This game was so disappointing. I expected a GTA quality game, but it's not really close. I can think of far more things the game does wrong than right, and that's never a good thing. For starters, the shooting/targeting system is simply awful. The zoom/shoot is mapped to the same button?!? Speaking of the controls, it never felt configured right no matter which scheme I tried. The story starts off ok, but gets bizarre (Flying fire heads, dragons, etc... pop up in the middle), which doesn't match it's 'True Crime' aspirations. The game also desperately needs more open endedness (like GTA), and more things to do besides missions and police calls.
Gameplay: The story is short, but has branching paths depending on how good or bad you are. I did like solving the various side police radio calls, but that only goes so far, and they start to repeat. There's not much else to do, and often after completing a mission, you have no choice but to start the next mission.
Graphics: The game does some things right here. The graphics are much improved when compared to GTA. The character models and pedestrians are all nicely done. Good cut scenes can also be found.
Sound: This game gets my award for most screwed up use of the custom soundtrack feature (beating out Midtown Madness by a hair). You can only add 100 (picked at random) of your custom soundtracks, but that doesn't matter because it'll still play it's own music most of the time NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!!!! Ugh, I hate rap music, and I hate that the custom soundtrack feature did not work half the time. I hate that I could only choose from 100 of my songs when I have well over 300 on the hard drive. This sucked beyond belief! I'd give sound a -1 if I could.

Overall: This is not a game which would beat the GTA genre but it is a good attempt i suppose. Its not a game i would rush out and buy but it is worth renting to see what you think of it. Take it from me RENT IT FIRST!
Gameplay: The gameplay is the thing that kind of saves the game from being terrible, it can be kind of good because the fighting engine works better than GTA. The car handling however i think is terrible. On GTA you can just steal a car and have fun cruising without complaining about the handling, but on True crime you wont be all that pleased with the handling. Its a bit unrealistic. Big Mistake in making you the good guy in this game thoughs a lot more fun being a bad guy.
Graphics: The visuals i think are terrible, no where near as good as Vice city. If you want a game where the graphics are acceptable and you just want to roam about the city shooting people at your free will, buy Vice City. Its a lot better game than True crime.
Sound: Sounds are nothing special, nothing to shout WOHA! at. Often a few good sounds thrown in there but the character speech is horrible. So annoying and so goodie goodie twoe shoes.

Graphics: The visuals are good, but cars come out of nowhere. Cars go threw walls. You get stuck in many areas, and bullets don't go threw fences.

Overall: A bit of a Grand theft auto clone. I feel rather jipped. I feel as if this is just a game that the developers slopped together in hurry just to simply feed off an already popular common interest that has arose do to GTA. Which would be ok, if they put a little more time into it, but I don't feel they did. The X-box is an incredibly powerful system and is capable of doing a lot more than what this game gave us, Small things such as there only seeming to be about 6-8 different civilian characters that just repeated themselves, there only seems to be few cars that are cycled through over and over, bushes are reminiscent of the nintendo 64's rush by looking like 2 2d boards crossing each other, etc.etc. Bottome line--- If your a fan of GTA and are becoming bored with 3 and VC buy this game it will entertain.
Gameplay: Is it better than GTA? Well yeah actually, I think so. Controls- (altough tough to get used to) are better than GTA, it is much easier to both fight and aim, driving handles better and is a funner experience. Its got a good story and can be quite fun for awhile, and certain quircks that might have bothered you before such dying after touching water will not occur in this game.
Graphics: ugh. There is nothing special about this game visually. I don't understand why with such an incredible and powerful system one might pass up an oppurtunity to take advantage of it and make something attractive.
Sound: This, I feel, is where the game shines. throughout the game characters will interact with you audibly. If your standing in a crowd of people and you pull out a gun and start shooting they will begin to run and you'll here people shout things like "Man, what the fu---!" or "AH, Shiznit" or "Hot diggity- !&%$@#* I gotta get out of here!" The music is nothing special but the voices make up for that in my book.

Overall: Pretty much an updated version of the GTA series, but more options, such as shooting people in cars, shooting out tires, and some really good combos. I recommend this game over GTA 3 or Vice City.
Gameplay: Driving is a lot of fun, especially the car chases, along with slow motion dives just like Max Payne, and tons of different missions, and the option to go after local thugs and peace disturbers.
Graphics: Amazing graphics, the city of LA is absolutely massive, along with great looking cars that get really beat up while you run over pedestrians, trees, stop signs, and smash into oncomming traffic.
Sound: Comes with a great pure rap soundtrack, but if rap isn't your thing, simply import your own songs. The voice acting isn't too bad, along with a few good laughs here and there.

Overall: We all know the desription. A GTA3 wanna be. Except this time your a good cop/bad cop. Doing so adjusts the story line as the game missions progress. The story rocks. The characters have a little life in them so it makes the game easy to get into and gives you a reason to play.
BUT... The engine sucks. I've been able to get a perp stuck in a vehicle that he hijacked, yet when I LEFT trigger my character to get into the car with the Perp, the perp gets stuck in the truck. I can't shoot him, I can't handcuff him or nothing. The map and the game still say he's at large, but he's technically STUCK! Secondly, I've been able to "lock my car" in an accident, thus prohibiting me from getting back into my car, either because the car is too damaged, or the wreck cause the game engine to do something preventing me from getting back into my car. So I have to "borrow" some innocent bystanders car to return to my garage to get my normal car BACK! So sad. So lame! Plus its way too easy to run over people as your trying to turn your car around to chase after someone or to head in a different direction. You lose so many Good Cop points that yu might as well be evil the entire game.
Whats surprising is the sound tracks. Straight-up swearing and cursing in the songs. B!tch this B!tch that! WOW, or more or less, uh I hope some 12 year old doesn't get their hands on this game. I know this game is rated M... hmmm interesting, lets desensitize the rest of the population.
Gameplay: Engine could be much better. the hand-to-hand engine is pretty sad. Minority Report has an excellent fighting engine with tons of different moves that you can actually pull off and visualize. TC makes it a requirement to just mash buttons to beat your foe.
Like everybody else, the targeting system is too whacked! The FP perspective is cool, only if it was a seperate button. Its to much effort to really bother pcking up weapons dropped onto the ground. If you've played GTA3 this is practically the same...
Graphics: Visuals are tight. It's LA in my living room! Hard to say what you'd what to do to the visuals aside from the typical "supe-up" the graphics for the next installment.
Sound: I love the sound tracks from real artists, too bad the game suffers from bad engine design and execution.
Suggestions: Go ahead and make True Crime: Streets of New York or something. Just FIX the game engine! Why are people running me over in the street. I would think if people see someone in the street that they would swerve to avoid hitting them?!? Remove the FP gun mode, don't need it. The hand-to-hand engine needs to be redone completly. Take a note of Minority reports fighting engine (not the game).

Overall: Lets start off by saying i disliked gta for one reason and one reason only, the story did not catch my attention, i had no motivation to do the missions, i had alot of fun just driving around aimlessly killing people. but come on folks that gets tiring after awhile..i mean you can kill so many innocent bystanders before you ask yourself why you are playing it.
now... true crime ... from the opening scene with christopher walken's narration you are instantly drawn into the story. and thats what a single player game is all about..drawing you into a story. this is when true crime becomes more than gta.
true crime is gta and more...it has every element of gta and whole lot of other stuff
Gameplay: the gameplay does have its fair share of problems. the camera for one is terrible. its very hard to control and you get the feeling that their could have been more time put into the camera than taking pictures of houses on a street. the rpg style is great, being able to upgrade your moves is pure genius! it makes you want to unlock all of the moves you can get.
driving is spot on...a great feel of control, and tell me whats better than driving down the street and in slow motion shooting and send a car exploding in the air front over end in a ball of fire and smoke!
fighting is also genius. the kungfu move look great.
Graphics: the graphics are not great..but they do the job. the light reflections are nice looking at night. the cutscenes could have been better aswell.
Sound: you can't say enough about the sound. the soundtrack fits the story well...even though rap is not my favorite genre.

Graphics: The graphics are so much better than GTA, anyone who says differently is sucking on Sony's schlong. The cars look really cool, too.

Overall: graphics r great, but aiming and trying to arrest people and all that is just plain difficult, kind of awkward controls and a short game
Gameplay: gamplay is alright i guess. The car handling is just kind of cartoony, and usually the fights come down to just button mashing. Aiming was also very awkward, i found it difficult to try and hit anything with the way the bullets moved so slowly, if anyone was running, bullets would miss them by hitting behind them lol, seems kinda odd to me
Graphics: visuals are strongest part of the game. The graphics r really good and uses the full potential of xbox. Its good to have a game that at least wasn't rushed which seems a common problem today. Player models and textures r great.
Sound: its average. Some of the stupid lines that Kang says over and over get kind of annoying like "lets hit the road, jack... errrr Nick" I dunno, i found all the usually sounds repetative, but the soundtrack was pretty good. Much better than say the radio on gta
Suggestions: make your games longer in the future. This one was finished over the weekend by my friend. And theres basically no replayability. Unless u enjoy participating in the same story over and over again.

Overall: First of all I've been waiting for this game for quite some time now. Now that its out I had to go get it. True Crime is a great game with nice graphics. When others compare it To the GTA series, I just don't see it other than the fact that you drive around killing people and solving missions. I think its better. The car chases are tight. You'd never get this out of GTA. The numerous missions with different outcomes are a plus. It dosen't matter if you fail a mission or not. You chose your own path. This is what every action game needs. Following a linear story gets so dull and boring and makes a game not worth 49.99. (maybe 39.99. like old times) but overall this game is great. I din't know why people don't like it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and thats all well and good.
Gameplay: The game play is cool. The controls take some getting used to, but hey, thats with every game you buy. I really like the way the story unfolds and how what you do can affect the outcome of the game. This really adds to the replay value. I hate games where it dosen't take but a couple days to finish it. What a waste of money. I think the car chases are what they should be. I don't like the good cop/bad cop thing. They could have left that one out. The shooting is ok. It needs work in a few areas but overall its cool. I love the fact that have a real live detailed city.
Graphics: The graphics for this game are sweet. The detailed city of L.A. shows that a lot of hard work went into this game.I don't see why some people don't like them. they don't appear to look choppy or nothing to me. They could have pushed the power of the xbox to its limits. They always say how much processing power it has, and how the graphics chip is so much better than PS2. If so, then why do xbox and ps2 games almost look the same. Other than this the game is looking pretty.
Sound: The sounds are great. I love that West Coast Rap Soundtrack. On top of that I can throw some of my own music in there. It dosen't get any better than that.
Suggestions: FOR PART TWO. IF THERE IS ONE. MAKE IT IN A DIFFERENT CITY. I'M SO SICK OF SEEING THE SAME OLD CITIES BEING PORTRAYED IN VIDEO GAMES. CREATE DETROIT,MICHIGAN. I'D LOVE TO SEE THAT ONE!!!!!

Overall: this is way better than gta. I like the rpg aspect of it, as you train to improve your aiming, driving, and fighting skills. The soundtrck is awesome as well.
Gameplay: the cotrols are easy once you get used to them. I like how when you aim it gows in slow motion for a couple seconds, becasue aiming with the joysticks is kinda akward. the driving is decnt as well, and the fights are intense.
Graphics: Everything looks good, the cut scences couldve been done better, but other than that its good. You can see very far in game as well.
Sound: This game has the best soundtrack ever in my opinon with bands like trapt, snoop dogg, and many others. Even if you dont like the soundtrack you can mix in your own songs or just play your own. Christopher Walkin is also featured in this game, and the voice acting is superb. I don't really like the engine sounds but other than that its awesome.
Suggestions: improve the cut scence visuals, and thats it!!

Overall: Let me start with the bad parts of the game. First of all the targeting sucks. Why would they have the first person targeting button the same as the normal targeting button? During times in a intense gunfight I would accidently switch to first person targeting even though I only held the button for a second. This caused many deaths in the beginning of the game until I forced myself to get use to the sloppy controls. Speaking of the beginning of the game, your thrown into the this game assuming you know what you are doing. Yes there are little small text that pop up to help you but the problem with this is: how am I suppose to read the text (which vanishes after a few seconds) and practice shooting at the same time. There should have been at least a pause menu that explains the same thing to you as the pop up text does. That way you can figure out the controls easier.
My next gripe is the annoying camera. You do have some what of contol over the camera but it is so flimsy when your in the middle of a gun fight. The controls was another issue I had with this game. Holding the "A" button allows you to hug the wall for cover, you can then press the "R1" trigger to jump out and target your enemies. The problem comes when you try to jump back, it doesn't allow you to do very well. I ended up running back to postion that I jump out from and pressed the "A" button again to return to the wall hug postion. In the mean time I was getting filled with lead! My last issue I had with True Crimes is how the game is trying to be "realistic" yet you are able to shoot a sniper with two guns from an enormous distance. Then every single person you fight seems like they have been trained by Bruce Lee. Your a trained cop, you should be kicking their asses.
Whew! Now that I got that over with I will say that I enjoyed 80% of this game. The driving sections are cool as hell and I like the fact that you can stop on your way to a mission to solve other crimes. The fighting engine needs work but it is nice that you can upgrade your character with new moves and grapples. I think the best part of this game I liked most is that you can customize your own sound track (which is only on the Xbox). If I had bought this game on any other system I think my review would have been much worse. Although the voice acting was excellent, even though main character's one liners were corny as hell. The graphics were pretty decent but sometimes a little choppy. L.A. looks great, and being able to interact into the enviroment was cool.
I would have to say any fan of cop or action movies should probably check True Crimes out. If your not sure then definitly rent it.
Gameplay: This is where the game needs work. The targeting can get annoying in gun fights, the fighting can get repetitive and the "realism" is lost at times. I did like the open driving missions.
Graphics: Decent character models, but framerate can get a little choppy at times. The camera will !&%$@#* you off but the realism of LA is spot on.
Sound: I don't care to much for West Coast rap but it does go with the feel of the game. The voice acting is great and the sound affects are pretty good.
Suggestions: good game, if only the small annoying things were fixed this could be a gta killer. Fix it up for part 2.

Overall: Like most of you who looked at this game as Grand Theft Auto LA, I came into True Crime with very high expectations. When you start TC, hearing Christopher Walken narrate, and seeing all the cool character models and somewhat cool theme song, you?ll think ?Oh yea, I?m so glad I bought/rented this game?. And then the first mission, a basic shooting range level, shows how much TC should have to offer. The first mission is pretty good, especially funny when Nick throws chopsticks into a bad guys ear. The next two missions are the best in the game, number two has you fighting a sniper, and three has a cinema where the main character, (ex-cop now government agent) Nick Kang, karate chops a baddie in the back of his head while the guy is taking a leak, and says ?You have the right to soak in your own urine.? It?s after this where the game goes downhill. You?ll want to throw TC in the garbage by the time when you reach the ?Good Cop? mission VI, where you actually fight demon/zombie looking thugs, flying fiery demonic heads, and a dragon. I?m telling the truth, a game that seems all GTA-like pulls a crazy stunt like this.
Gameplay: The controls are pretty solid. Running around LA isn?t too tough, and the cars are pretty easy to handle. The gunplay could have used some work though. I don?t like how the aiming reticule always points down when you bring it up. It?s really annoying when a bad guy is shooting at you and you?re trying to aim at his arm or leg so you don?t be labeled as a Bad Cop. The Good Cop/Bad Cop idea would have worked in a strictly shooting game, but in a game where it?s so easy to run over or shoot a civilian, it just doesn?t work. See, when you kill a baddie that you could have just arrested, the game gives you a ?1 on your cop rating. But, if you aim and shoot his arms, you get a +1. In big firefights, especially when the guy is shooting right at you, aiming his arms is too much of a hassle. At times, you can lose 20 cop points in a mission. The fighting in TC is also a hassle. It may seem cool at first, with the ability to perform special moves when an opponent is stunned, but when you have to rely on the same moves over and over, fighting gets dull real quick.
Graphics: True Crime has some pretty good character models, especially Nick and his female sidekick, but the others are kind of bland. Speaking of bland, the environments couldn?t be any more of that. You?ll see the same lame ?Adult Video? and ?XXX? signs everywhere in the game. Most houses look the same, and other than different colors, most civilians and vehicles are the same too. Nick?s gun looks very cool, especially with all the upgrades you can give it, and hands down this game has better graphics than any GTA game. However, other than the main characters, this games graphics are nowhere near as good as they should be.
Sound: Boy howdy does this game have some bad sound. Nick will repeat mostly everything you hear him say at least 5 times by the end of the game. In desperate attempts to raise your good cop rating by frisking civilians, you?ll hear ?Get off my balls!? and ?I?m calling the Senator!? more times than you should. Unlike the GTA games, which have radio stations you can change if you don?t want to hear a certain song, you have to listen to all of True Crimes god-awful songs over and over again. Also unlike the GTA series (more specifically Vice City), not one tune in TC is family friendly. If you easily get tired of hip hop and hard rock songs full of n-words, f-words, and s-words, this game is not for you. One specific objectional song is called ?A** and Ti**ies?. The only things that sound decent in this game are the guns and the vehicles. The only reason I?m not giving the sound a 1 is the custom soundtrack support.
Suggestions: Please. No more True Crime games. Ever.

Overall: This game is next to perfect. It is obviously not supposed to be a GTA, because you are a cop for crap's sake. Everything in this game seems to be thought out quite well, and it does what a game is supposed to, let you have FUN!
Gameplay: The controls in True Crime are pretty smooth, the way they did the shooting is pretty cool. I like all the upgrades you can get, and they really seem to help when you go further in the game, my only problem is fighting girls, they slap too fast and can easily whoop you if you are unsuspecting. I like the car selection, and getting in and out is a snap, and shooting from cars couldnt be easier.
Graphics: I don't have a problem with the graphics. They are just a tad outdated, but nothing to really complain about, the car models are good, and LA is modeled pretty accurately, I mean driving down figuroa to see the Staples Center is pretty nifty.
Sound: I love the music they put in the game, add in some custom soundtack, and you are ready to cruise LA in style. The soud FX are pretty smooth, guns sound like guns and what not, but where the sound dept. really shines are the comments made by every character in the game. They are flat out hilarious, GREAT voice acting. And who can forget Cristopher Walken doing the narration! That took the cake for me.
Suggestions: Make a sequel, Improve the graphics up to the Box's full potential, add some more voice talent, the ones you got rocked! Longer stories for all the directions you go. Different cop cars for nick. thats about it. Great Game!!!

Overall: THIs is not a GTA CLONE!! Awesome game. I love everything about it. Great shooting, driving, and fighting game.
Gameplay: You are a Nick Kang, a cop in LA. You can steal any car that you want to. When you steal it he says the city of LA thanks you or somthin like that. There are various crimes going on throughout the city. The station will radio into you and say there is a crime in progress then a red dot will flash on the screen and then you go to it. You can either arrest the suspects or kill them. When you are roaming the streets you can search anyone for drugs and if you catch someone with drugs your good/bad cop meter goes up. If you do everything you are suposed to such as solve crimes, do the missions, and dont try not 2 kill any innocent bystanders then the story will be longer, but if you play it like GTA and just kill everyone you will be a bad cop and the story will change. This is not a GTA clone unless you play it like one. Overall its an awesome game. You get unlimited ammo, too.
Graphics: This is one of my only complaints with the game. The graphics just aren't up to par with what the XBOX can do. But, it doesnt take away from the game at all.
Sound: THe soundtrack is awesome. All the rap and everything is perfect for the setting: LA. The soundtrack kicks ass!

Overall: I'm not sure if it was the fact that Grand Theft Auto wasn't avaliable for the xbox, or the fact that I was promised a completly true recreation of LA that made me so giddy for this game, whatever it was, I was excited, for good reason. The game is great, and was most definitly worth the wait, no matter what everyone says, this kicks the crap out of any prenotion I have had about gta.
Gameplay: True Crime is like 3 games in one, its a mix of fighting, shooting, and driving. All which are executing well, and are played out well. The shooting (even with auto aim)is pulled off easy, the physics and driving are fun and easy, and teh fighing, while slow is still fun, and pretty in depth.
Graphics: There are a few clipping issues here, but other than that, the game looks decent. It is by no means beautiful, or hell, it doesnt even come close to most of the xbox games today, but it looks nice, and the cars look great.
Sound: From the intro by christopher walkin, to the catch phrases by Nick Kang, the games sound is humours, and the music (while mostly rap) isn't half bad. You also have the choice for custom soundtrack.
Suggestions: Not much, fix the graphics, make the fighting better, and your good to go!

Overall: Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series might be a little frustrated when they first start to play this game due to the fact that they might feel they already know how to play it (it occassionally looks so much like GTA, you might forget which game you're playing). I was very frustrated when I first started the game, having GTA expecatations, but once you adapt and get used to the scheme of True Crime, you realize this is a great game in its own right. In addition to resembling GTA, there are also strong similarities to Max Payne and Enter the Matrix (in that the fighting scenes are basically just button pushers). Some people may be disappointed by the fact that True Crime has taken elements from so many other games, yet not improved on any of them, but the game is still highly enjoyable. Still, it doesn't top GTA.
Gameplay: The play of this game is basically a combination of three other games - Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, and Enter the Matrix. The driving and mission seeking is almost EXACTLY that of GTA. You have an assigned destination which shows on your radar, but you also have the option of stopping along the way to break up/solve various crimes. How you deal with these crimes defines the "karma" of your character (Nick Kang); if you constantly kill perps, you get credit for stopping crime, but no bonus on your karma score. If you accidentally (or intentionally) kill a bystander or an innocent, your karma is lowered by one. Once you reach negative numbers, you're considered a "bad cop", and this alters the storyline of the game. During some of the missions, the game becomes a third person shooter like Max Payne (complete with bullet time). Perhaps the weakest missions, as far as gameplay is concerned, are the ones in which your character participates in hand-to-hand combat. These missions require very little skill, as it becomes a contest to see how fast you can push buttons to throw various punches, kicks, and grappling takedowns.
Graphics: The graphics are not that exciting. In fact, I'd say they're somewhat subpar, considering the power of the Xbox.
Sound: I'm normally not a fan of the style of music found on True Crime, but it fits perfectly with the tone of the game.
Suggestions: There is one flaw with this game that is totally unforgivable - the terrible camera angles. This is especially a problem when Nick is inside of a building, as the computer sometimes will let you run the camera angle completely around Nick, and at other times won't, for no apparent reason. It also has a problem I've never encountered before; inverting the controls on the horizontal control of the camera. The options let you control the inversion feature for aiming (when you activate Nick's "targeting" system), but adjusting the camera angle (using the right joystick) is opposite of the default on every other game I've ever played, and there is no option to change it. I've also found a few glitches in the game where Nick is walking down the street, then suddenly appears to fall (the screen background goes blue), and then you die for no apparent reason. Despite these complaints, this is still a great game.

Overall: Upon purchasing the game, I was informer by a friend/employee of EB that this game would blow away GTA, without a doubt. He stated this after both reading and watching gameplay videos. After playing the game for myself last night for the first time, my opinion would tend to differ. While this is for sure, a game that you should not miss, it is definately not a Grand Theft Auto killer. Grand Theft Auto had that spark about it... and everyone is still begging for that spark on Xbox, only with a graphical overhaul. Well, they aren't getting that in True Crime of GTA. After giving True Crime 45 minutes of my time... I finally caught onto the games differences.
Gameplay: The first thing every player will do... is jump. Gaurunteed. The controll setup is almost awkward when you are first beginning. I constantly find myself throwing Nick Kang out of his own car. A quick tap of the L-Trigger... thinking I will brake... and Kang smashes his head on the pavement. The game definately is far from GTA. The cars handle more realistic... yet far from a real car. The fighting is outstanding... same with gunplay. Both seem to play a lot like the Dead to Rights game... The ability to walk around frisking people... and shooting random individuals is entertaining... but does get tiresome quickly. Luckily... this game offers up a great storyline... at least so far.
Graphics: While Graphics are definately not the strong part of this game... there are different elements that balance out the graphics. While the car models are very reflective and knowing of their surroundings... the pavement and textures in the game are rather bland. The Highway Signs seem to stand out in a peculiar green... the game limits it's player models around the map. Overall it is a graphically sound game... it just has minor quirks that could've been boosted for it being an Xbox game.
Sound: The soundtrack suits the game very well, that is evident from the start. The characters talking with lip-synching is nice... The guns are nice and loud... the hum of the engine. Overall it is a good sound...
Suggestions: Keep doing what your doing... a graphical uplift on some textures would be nice... and a radio soundtrack that doesn't reset every time you enter/leave a car. I really enjoy the GTA "Radio".
