Overall: So far, I think this is the best game made after a movie. Great looking game with big environments, even though you are trying to escape from Butcher Bay Prison.
Gameplay: This is one of the best FPS games. The amount of weapons in this game is larger than a lot of FPS's. The very fun and challenging game play gives you hours of fun.
Graphics: Looks great, the player models, especially Vin Diesel, look amazing. Great lighting and shadows. The environments are big and have a lot of detail put into them. This is one of the best looking Xbox games.
Sound: The weapons sounds are good, I like the punching sounds, more realistic than most FPS's. The voice overs in the game are amazing, at last someone uses the voice of the actual person.

Overall: I played this game several months ago. I can't get over how many people loved this game. I thought it was completely lame. I totally lost interest after a few hours of gameplay. Very dull.
Gameplay: I found this game to be extrememly boring. I could not get into it at all. Just another shooter. If the game can't draw you in at the beginning it has a serious design flaw.
Graphics: Graphics did not impress me in the least. I don't know what all the hoopla is about. Unless they get better as the game progresses... they sure weren't anything to write home about at the beginning. Dark and dreary 'seen it all before' type graphics.
Sound: I don't remember the sound to be that great. Standard sounds. Nothing memorable. Blah Blah Blah Blah.

Overall: The sleeper hit of the year. Quite simply a serious challenger to Halo 2 for best game on the xbox (no, im REALLY not lying to you.....)
Gameplay: Intuitive , involving and VERY atmospheric. Riddick is quite simply as good a game as you can get. Another crucial word for the gameplay : ADDICTIVE.
Graphics: Better than Halo. Not only are the character models FANTASTICALLY put together , but the atmospheres and worlds are also amazing. Quite simply the best looking game on the xbox.
Sound: Excellent voice acting , especially from Mr. Diesel who is very menacing. Ron "Hellboy" Perlman , Jauquim "Desperado" De Almeida and Rapper Xzibit. The guns all sound tip-top too...

Overall: Admittedly, I am no big fan of Vin Diesel movies...fanboys of the big lug will love this game...those who want a good mix of action and stealth could stand to pick this one up too. While short, some of the challanges and the gruesome devestator moves will keep you wanting some more.
Gameplay: The controls take a little to get used to, but are pretty good when you get down to it. While the puzzles are not brain busters, some fast twitch actions and pretty cool stealth kill opportunities keep things moving.
Graphics: Some good graphics on this one...just look past the jaggies. The lighting effects and very high level of detail keep it a great thing to look at. The eyeshine is a very unique feature...Thief and Splinter Cell would benefit from something like that.
Sound: The sound has some wanna-be epic type stirring action music to spur you to action...while the grunts, groans, screams, voice acting and some small things you may not notice at first glance (or listen in this case) make it a pretty good thing here too.
Suggestions: Saw Pitch Black...thought it could have been alot better...haven't seen the other Riddick movie, but looks pretty cool and am more inclined to see it after playing through this title.

Overall: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is an excellent Stealth/FPS. The best looking XBox game yet.
Gameplay: In The Chronicles of Riddick you play as everyone's favorite anti-hero, Riddick. As the game begins, Riddick is being transported to the infamous prison, Butchers Bay. "Prison? Pshh, no prison can hold Riddick!" which is what you'd be thinking, but you see, no one has ever escaped Butchers Bay and from the look things, it doesn't look like Riddick will be the first. But any who, your main object is to escape Butcher's. Seeing as Riddick can't use the guards weapons (at the start atleast) since they are DNA encoded (or in otherwords, you fry if you attempt to fire a single round) but if you press the right trigger right as a guard attempts smack you with his gun, you'll pull the barrel under his chin and force him to cap himself, !&%$@#* ing sweet .You'll mainly be using your fists and various prison crafted weapons such as a shiv or knuckle-duster. You can use these weapons to break locks, lights, and faces. Once said lights are out, you can circle around behind a guard and proceed with snapping his neck like a twig. It's a whole different story once Riddick hacks the Mainframe and is able to use the Assault Rifle. Which reminds me, you'll face a variety of guards, armored mechs, bigger armored mechs, and flesh devouring aliens. The story for The Chronicles of Riddick is pretty good, numerous times once you think you've ended the game, it finds a way to pull you back in with one of the many minor plot twists. One last thing, there is no multiplayer in TCOR, whatsoever which is not so much a bad thing. TCOR is about 10-12 hours long and you should get bored after you beat the game. What does help though is that there is around 100 unlockable items in the form of cigarette packs. Unlockable items range from early demos of the game to concept art from the movie and game. Overall the gameplay hardly gets repetative and manages to be enjoyable.
Graphics: Clearly the best looking Xbox game yet! Normal mapping is pulled off marvelously but in the game is overused too much. Only grip is with the cutscenes, they sometime start out "fuzzy" but is only a minor detail that shouldn't subtract from the games overall value.
Sound: Amazing. More then half of TCOR's Voice Talent is recognizable such as Vin Diesel, Xzibit, Ron Perlman, and many more and even rarer is that they all sound perfect. Guards heckle and taunt you to come out of hiding, neck snapping sounds so realistic that you'd swore you were watching one of Steven Seagull's movies.
Suggestions: Well, the sequel is already in the works, make it longer, also deal with the fuzzy graphics and ease up on normal mapping.

Overall: Pretty good game with a semi original idea/story line behind it. The only thing that seperates this game from the other break out of prision titles is good graphics. The replay value was not there for me so I already sold it and have moved on. It's a good rental and worth a weekend or a few days worth of play not sure I would reccommend buying it though.
Gameplay: Pretty good. Semi easy to master so you don't spend all of your time figuring out button combos etc and can focus on playing the game and enjoying the story line.
Graphics: Very good. They did a nice job with the looks of this game. It showed up nice on the 57" HDTV I have my console on. This is the way XBOX titles should all look. Nice.
Sound: Pretty good. Surround effects are the norm now so nothing super out of control cool but solid all of the way around. No complaints.
Suggestions: I don't see any replay value of this game therefore I've already sold it back to EB Games which is a quick way to burn up $50... Wish I'd a rented it so I did not feel like I wasted my cash. I liked it but since there was no replay value to me, I moved it on down the line. Make your games fun to play again guys and keep the graphics quality up on top.

Overall: chronicles of riddick is a good game that stands above all others in terms of graphics but settles in among others when it comes to gameplay and flaws.you play riddick in a game that involves an rpg like system of objectives and conversations... much like deus ex, but with better focus on action. a good game that releys alot on its looks to hide the few flaws that it holds.
Gameplay: unlike other fps games... you really feel like you are looking through the eyes of riddick... when you walk you can see your legs move, and see the up and down motion on the screen... unlike most other fps games where it just feels like a floating head gliding around. i really like the rpg element in the game, where you can choose what side you are on and how to ask and answer questions, it just makes gameplay feel more involving... contols are smooth enough, but aiming can sometimes be a bit of a strain. but with little replay value and no multiplayer, this game seems destined to a rental. but overall... gameplay offers a varied and invollving experience.
Graphics: i think i can say without doubt that this is the best looking game ever seen on xbox. a very memorable part of this game is when you are being taken to your cell, it feels like you are watching a movie as the credits appear, and it looks like it too, this part of the game braces you for the amazing visuals that you will see in the game.. graphics are top spec computer quality, and set the pace for games that want to graphicly impress on the xbox... textures are briliant, and seem almost fotoreal and dont blurr as you get close. walls look like they are scattered with pixel munching 3d pipes and wires that react to every shine and shadow, but are really just a great texture effect painted on a flat wall... this effect is great, as it looks cool, and allows a better frame rate.. character models are AMAZING, they look almost real and react to light shadows and just about everything else.. the only complaint i have about the visuals, however small is the unimpresive blue liquid that you find in the underground area where you 1st find the mutated guys... it just looks quite flat and fuzzy... not quite on par with the rest of the graphics... but despite that one complaint, the visual quality of this game is so great that it deserves the FIRST 5/5 that i have ever given in a review... definetly the most beautiful game on xbox
Sound: sound is good but but does not strike you as being as impressive as the visuals... offers good suspense and effects... like it should
Suggestions: a multiplayer mode would have been appreciated... and a physics model like that seen in deus ex...

Overall: This game has it all, the graphics, the sound, and the all important gameplay, this was without a doubt one of the best purchases ive ever made
Gameplay: Well this game starts off on the ice planet from the film, and it tells you how you got there, and it explains this through the gameplay, you play riddick and start off being caught by johns (pitch black merc), you are dropped off at the infamous butcher bay, from that point on you are trying to escape, the weapons are ace, the fighting is phenomenal, and the story is one of the best ive had the privelage to play.
Graphics: The only thing i can say about the visual department is, WOW!!!
this game rivals doom 3 graphics, its that stunning. And the shadow and lighting effects are the best ive seen to date.
Sound: What more can you ask for, the voice of the real riddick (vin diesel), they even bought back the actor who played johns in pitch black to do his voice, and to top that you have xzibit (sorry if spelt wrong) doing one of the main prison guards voice, but the truly spectacular thing is, they've done every sound perfect from the voices to the gun sounds, to the ambient noises. Fantastic
Suggestions: The only suggestion i can give is, if you do a sequel or even a prequel, at least include multiplayer.

Overall: You are Riddick. You are a badass (you have Vin Diesels voice). You are sent to THE badass prison for THE badasses of the galaxy. Now, you must escape Butcher Bay using a combination of stealth, timing, and brute gunning. Chronicles of Riddick is immersive and an excellent experience, but its length warrants only a rental as it took me around only 8 hours to complete it on the hardest setting. Overall, Riddick combines a good story with good gameplay, making it a must-play.
Gameplay: One of the reasons Riddick is such a good game is because of its circumstantial variation; there are several side quests to do, but the best aspect of the game is the number of ways you can approach a situation. As an example, you are against some patrolling guards, but all you have is a knife. Do you attempt to rush them and carve them to death or perhaps you would rather take them out from the shadows. Maybe you would rather have mercy on them and avoid them all together. The choice is yours - whatever suits your playing style.
Immersion is one of the key elements of the game. You will feel like Riddick as you get pissed off by fellow inmates, but satisfyingly hear Diesels voice respond in some sarcastic, tough guy rhetoric. Or when an explosion unlocks some monstrous creatures from the depths and you wander around with a few rounds of ammo in the dark, wondering what is around the corner. I do think, however, that Riddicks ocular implants that allow a type of night vision are a bit unnecessary. In dark areas, it would have been much more demanding if you had to use the wimpy light on your gun and could not simply turn on Eyeshine. However, I won't let this minute preference hinder the wondrous gameplay.
Melee in Riddick is the best of any game I have ever played. There are an assortment of shivs and clubs you will find around the game, and they are very fulfilling to use. By moving the left thumbstick while you attack, you can pull off pleasing combos. The left trigger blocks. These simple, responsive controls not only assist melee, but also make whole game fluid, without cumbrous frustration.
Graphics: The visuals in Riddick are the best I have seen in any game, and the best part is that slowdown is rare. Thank god for its normal mapping. What looks to be a high-polygonated wall filled with pipes and futuristic decor is just a trick of the mapping, as you see that from the side, the wall is really just flat.
The lighting in the game actually makes you feel hidden. Since you can look down and see your own body, you can see the shadow cast upon you as the guard walks right past you. There's no permanent graphical interface aside from your health, nor is there a light gem that displays how hidden you are, like in Thief. No need. The screen tints when you are hidden, and it is very functional and appropriate.
Sound: The sound is outstanding, with meaty melee cleaves and satisfying rounds of dispersed ammunition. As you alert guards of your presence, prepared to be taunted and cursed at as they search for you, saying you do bad things to mothers that only beckon your hands to twist their necks.
The music soundtrack just furthers the feeling that you are playing in an actual movie. The music even reacts to situations, which changes and heightens during action sequences. With Dolby 5.1, the experience even gets better as the voices of curious guards echo off the prison walls or sprays of bullets whiz past your ears.
Suggestions: Concept art is not an incentive for replay value, and the lack of multiplayer does not ask for more than a rental. AI also needs to be enhanced.

Overall: Looks like Doom 3. Runs surprisingly smooth. Excelent voice acting, and music. Sound effects are average. An involving story that is further lavished with excelent in-game movies. Sure Vin Diesel's voice acting may be a little light, but this is an excelent rent for any one who can tolerate supreme vulgarity!
Gameplay: The game isn't too long, that's why i suggest a RENT. But the game sure is a cinimatic. There is first person fighting, using fists, knives, and bats. There are lots of guns to use as well. You can get into 2 different Mechs. The game play is varied enough to keep the stealth lovers in and the FPS lovers in. The AI seems to need some fine tuning, but that's about it.
Graphics: DOOM 3 anyone? EVERYTHING is bump-mapped. It's crazy! The character models look AMAZING! Best of any game to date. Better than Halo, better than DeathRow! This game is a must rent just to see how !&%$@#* nice it looks!
Sound: Voice acting in top notch, adding a real cinimatic feel to the game/film. Environmental sounds are ambiently-nice. Average overall.

Overall: I don't feel ashamed in any way by saying that this game is nothing of what it could of been. I mean the gameplay is alright but it feels just like something else I've played before but can't even think of it because it wasn't as fun.
Gameplay: It's fun for awhile and I mean you can do quite a bit but it gets repetive after a while. I mean even the movie showed me that there isnt much to be had from the character.
Graphics: The visuals are very good I will agree. But compared to what? I mean Ralisport 2 looks awesome for a driving game, and Madden looks good for a sports game. This fps has good graphics but I dont think there &qu
Sound: Ok sounds make for an all around ok. I mean theres no reason sounds should make or break a game i guess.

Overall: I rented this game because it received distinguished ratings. I'm glad to say that it deserves such a high rating. I will probably go out and buy it if I can come up with some cash. If you own an XBox, then this is a game you should own. I hold it second only to Halo. It also gives you insight into the world of Riddick. Whether you liked Pitch Black or if you have even seen The Chornicles of Riddick yet, this game is still sweet. Riding around in the mech suit at the end of the game is also a total blast... Literally! Interacting with the inmates and guards is a hoot as well.
Gameplay: No major complaints here. The controls are decent and never cause too much aggravation. Jumping to ledges is a little tricky sometimes but otherwise... Flawless.
Graphics: Simply put... Stunning! I just wish I had an HDTV so I could really put the graphics to justice. I've played the beta version of Doom 3 with the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro videocard. With and HDTV, the graphics for this game rival those of Doom 3. Trust me. Plus, the character model looks exactly like it's movie counterpart.
Sound: The fact that Vin Diesel actually does the voice of Riddick is good enough. Xzibit even makes a voiceover cameo as the "lovable" Abbott. Not to mention, the ambient sounds and gloomy soundtrack seem to go well with the whole prison atmosphere.
Suggestions: This game is little on the short side. I don't care about multiplayer too much but I do like the Co-Op feature in Halo... Otherwise, great job!

Overall: I have owned alot of consoles in my life and played alot of games. I still have fond memories of Atari 2600, Colecovision, Intellivision (this was my first system growing up), Turbo Grafix 16, Sega, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast. I have to admit that sometimes a game comes out and makes you want to buy the system. I remember seeing GTA III for the first time and I ran out and bought the PS2. When I first saw Metroid Prime I bought the Gamecube. When I first saw Halo I bought the Xbox. All of those games were difinitive reasons to buy their respected systems. I have since traded my PS2 and Gamecube in because I figured if I was going to have any system I might as well have the best.
For all of you Gamecube and PS2 owners who happen to read this review because you heard The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was a great game, let me make a suggestion to you. Run, don't walk to your favorite game retailer and trade in your system. It is know officially obsolete. Vivendi Universal, Starbreeze and Tigon Studios have created THE difinitive reason to own the best console on the planet. Up until this point, Halo was my favorite. Don't get me wrong, Halo was the greatest launch title for any system ever and still IS one of my favorite FPS's. Whereas Halo may have launched the Xbox, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay puts the Xbox into orbit and keeps it there. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is the best FPS I have ever played on any console. The graphics, the sound, the gritty realism makes the atmosphere of this experience virtually palpable. It is as close to playing a movie as we have come so far. There is really nothing I can say bad about this experience. The only negative I can think of is maybe the seams in some of the characters during the cut scenes could have been a little bit more hidden. If every game were as lucky to have only that to be their biggest problem then we probably wouldn't have to wait so long for something like The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay to come along and redifine gaming.
Gameplay: The controls are spot on. Not since Halo have controls been this easy to handle in a first person shooter. Arguably some of the best fighting controls ever. I though it was terrific how you could use the analog stick to create upper cuts and hay makers and when done in a certain order, create !&%$@#* kicking combos!
Graphics: Flat out the best graphics on any system EVER! The textures alone made me think I could reach out, touch my television screen, and feel the cold hard steel of the prison doors or the gritty, jagged edges of the rock walls in the mine.
Sound: The ambient sounds of the prisoners yelling and screaming, the flies buzzing around the waste disposal units, all of this after going through the prison, made me feel like I needed to take a shower.

Overall: This is the best stealth/shooter ever. The mood of this game is very distinct, dark, very dark. One of my favorite games.
Gameplay: I enjoyed just about everything in this game, from wrestling a guys gun into his face and pulling the trigger, or going toe to toe with a burley convict. The first person combat is excellent, the weapons are good, and characters are fun to interact with. Along with the unlockable extras by finding packs of smokes with some hilarious warnings.
Graphics: Blood spray is wicked, and lighting is excellent. The characters have great detail also. One of the best looking games ever.
Sound: The is something disheartening about everyone you meet calling you a Mother F***** at some point, unless your playing a game, and one that takes place in a prison. Overall the sound is great, and very moody, which goes well with the rest of the game.

Overall: In my opinion this is one of the best games out for xbox right now. It is right up there with Halo. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to get this because I heard it was really short, and there is no multiplayer. But, even with those two things it is one of the Top 2 games on xbox. It's got gorgeous graphics, great sound/voice-overs/good story/ and a good mix of shooting, fighting, and a little stealth.
Gameplay: You are Riddick. There are lots of guns for you to use and you can use your hands to fight and kill people. The atmoeshpere in this game is amazing. You feel like you are part of the game. The game has a little bit of an RPG element to it with the fact that you can choose to do side missions and stuff like that. The guns are very cool in this game. Your mission is basically to escape from the prison you're in. And when you kill people with your hands there are awesome results.
Graphics: Hands down the best graphics on this system. Yes, I just said that. The lighting is awesome, the areas look great and the characters look unbelievably real.

Overall: A mixture between alot of great games like breakdown, splintercell, tenchu, and halo. I hate vin deisel and alot of movie games but this is the ultimate game. Best visuals adn lots of fun snapping necks, gun fights, and hand to hand combat, and pretty good story. The first person veiw much liek breakdown is also fun and more emmersive ten looking over the back of your character.
Gameplay: If you like guns and gorey punching, slamming, adn slicing with some monsters and fun missions on teh side this game rocks. Sneaking up behind victims and slashing them with a scalpul, or quickly snpping their neck or a huge shotgun shot to the back of hte head and see them flop to the floor. Sometimes they kick their legs after too it is sick adn fun as HELL. It just...ended way to suddenly adn the last movie just was so unfifilling but great.
Graphics: I can beleive it is the best on xbox for the moment for the shading and shadows adn textues are sharp, clear adn soimetimes eerie. But until doom 3, or halo 2 comes out this is the best.
Sound: The sound is great from slashing and hearing a yelp from your victim, or booming guns, or shoutingand cussing from guards or fellow prisoners. It was all done great except for some of hte lip synching or whatever it is called.

Overall: Great game all around. Riddick seems to be a new franchise in a game series that i see to only improve for the better on. Vin's voice acting along with all the other characters are surpurb. Nothing was left out, graphics were top notch as well as the sound. This game is very addicting to finish, be it very short, but non the less a good overall game that emerses the player in a game that plays like a true movie.
Gameplay: Riddick is a criminal sent to a prison and you have to get him out. Through out the whole game you as the player always feel like you are Riddick, so throughout the game you feel you need to escape. Its fun to use guns, snap heads, crawl with bodys, throw them around, take out lights, and just be a badass in the game.
Graphics: As you may have heard...It has the best graphics, the lighting and textures the games gives off is truly amazing. I can go on all day to describe how well they did the game but i think its better if you go and play it for yourself.
Sound: All the sounds are done well. from the shooting of the guns, to the walking and all body movements to punching, everything, the voice acting is done well like if they were making a true movie.

Overall: Riddick is a solid gaming experience. The graphics are as good as you've heard (wow), with an interesting and compelling storyline. The dual 1st/3rd person interface works very well. Though I completed the game in about 8-9 hours, I found it challenging and enjoyable from start to finish. Did I mention the graphics? (wow)
Gameplay: A great combination of stealth and action (ie. kill everything) with variation built in if you prefer one or the other. The first-person view seemlessly transitions to 3rd person when you interact with specific things in your environment. Sometimes it's difficult to pull of combo attacks, which can be frustrating.
Graphics: 3 words: Holy, F*cking, and Sh*t (in that order) Xbox magazine said it was the best looking game they had ever seen and I tend to agree. The "normal mapping" technology, combined with dynamic lighting make the visuals breathtakingly gorgeous. Even simple interaction with NPC characters is a visual feast. Occasional anti-aliasing issues don't really detract from the overall effect.
