Description

In the future, there will be a massive war. Thunder will crash from the heavens, hellfire will rise from the evils below, and the Earth shall suffer as the battleground. Lands, races, clans and countries will divide. Humans, demons and the gods will stain the bloodlines and the races of our world will become anew.

Decades later, as China rebuilds itself, under the leadership of Roa Khan, there will be peace between the warlords. It is Xao Gon, who doesn't believe in this unification, strikes out in defiance. With his growing army Xao Gon takes the matter into his own hands, and begins a brutal war throughout the lands.

Overall: Avoid purchasing this game, instead it relegate to a weekend rental. The general sloppiness of the game has me questioning Microsoft's Standards. I was hoping for more excellent Titles after I purchased Halo. Oddworld. and Doa 3, instead a mound of crap has flooded the X-box. Next time be more skeptical of the term ''Only on X-Box''. New legends could have been another Halo, if the developer didn't execute such a shoddy and undermined game. In addition to the developer, it is a shock that THQ would release such garbage in the wake of their hit title Red Faction for Playstation 2. To release such an inferior product is truly unacceptable.
Gameplay: I give props to the fighting system, yet with the horrible camera angles and horrible fighting animations the system is never truly utilized. Simply running around and killing things is fun but it would be be better on a non-glitchy fully polished game like Baldur's Gate. To top that off it's not even a multiplayer game

Graphics: Am I even playing a game on the X-box? The graphics have a general look of the first generation N64 launch titles. The textures and colors are as bland and plain as an unfurnished apartment, and the trees and buildings look like they were drawn by a five year old. The framerate stutters consistently in addition to some horrid slowdown that hurts gameplay and the overall fun factor. There is not even one graphical piece that impressed me, and this game is probably using about 5% of the X-boxes graphical capability. Clearly an eye sore

Sound: The sound gets extremely repetitive and the sounds of your own footsteps will annoy the living hell out of you. The voice acting is average and the general presentation remind of another crappy beat em up Fighting Force 2.

Overall: Pretty good for one of the original Xbox launch titles. The controls are pretty good, and the plot is failry interesting. Fast gameplay and a plethora of weapons keep the replay ok.
Gameplay: The controls take some getting used to, i.e. long range weapons, and the other characters have low AI. But the bosses, while sometimes mind boggling tough, yield cool weapons. Cut scenes ok, but ending is very anticlimactic.
Graphics: Graphics seem kinda PS1 like and normal weapon affects not as great as they could be. Mountaintop levels do have some visual appeals, but foggy in long distances.
Sound: You hear almost all of the attack sounds after the first two levels or so and the cut scenes with character voices sometimes seem rather bland and monotone.
Suggestions: No sequals without major changes...please.

Overall: The appeal of the game was great I really thought it was going to be a fun game. I WAS WAY WRONG. Totally a disappointment.
Gameplay: You cannot go anywhere exploring. You must go when and where the game wants you to go. Why make a game in a 3D environment and then limit the user to where they can go. Make a side scroller and be done with it.
Graphics: The graphics were ok. Nothing special. You can find any game on the shelf with the same graphics. There wasn't anything this game had that others don't have.
Sound: I didn't really pay much attention to the sounds so I will have to give a 3.0 I am giving it a 3.0 to be fair to both sides.
Suggestions: Work on the AI a little more. Totally work on the gameplay and enable a player to actually play the game instead of just doing what the screen tells them to do. There is a difference between tasks to do in a level and then telling a person how to do them and when to do them. Where is the fun in that?

Overall: Ok, well this game is good for a buy, and then you can just give it back as a previouly owned game.

This game has THE BEST story line I have ever seen, at sime parts you have to follow your friends and then they get lost, which adds to the appeal.

The AI can get on your FRIGGIN nerves, at one point they have to all gather in an elevator, and it is sooooooo hard to get them in it.
Gameplay: Fun, exciting. Can easily have been better, but don't forget it was made by THQ. When you consider that its a great game for them.
Graphics: Camera angles are alright...as you can manualy change them, GFX are cool, but alot of gliches that will make you laugh.
Sound: Sound is good, but when you block an opponents attack is makes the same noise no matter what you block with.
Suggestions: THQ, please stop making games... don't make hype on a game when it sucks and don't release a game when there are even posibilities of gliches.

Overall: I cannot believe some people will give a rating higher than 3.0. I mean this game is so bad. In the game's forum 9 out 12 people regreted they bought this game and 4 out 10 thought it is the worst XBOX game.
Gameplay: Waht appeal? I mean this game is so bad. It is definitely one of the worst XBOX games, if not the worst.

Overall: This game is very bad. The idea is good, but it seems the producers lost interest and just wanted to rush it into the market. The storyline is fine at beginning, but becomes really boring after 5 or 6 rounds. The first 30 round are very easy and the fighting is repeitive, and the last two rounds are really really hard. After you finish the last round (if you have the patience or interest to eer finish it), you become really bored with the game and you never want to touch it again. Graphics are so bad you will think you are playing a playstation. A lot of bugs as well. It is a shame for a company to let such a bad game into the market. I don't know about you guys, but I will never buy a game by THQ again.

Gameplay: The fight is quite repetitive. Guns are of no use here. You can pretty much finish most of the game with an infinite staff. Quickly you will become bored.
Graphics: Praphics are so bad that you will think you are playing a playstation. Camera angles are very awkward. Many bugs as well.
Sound: Same music again and again and again and you will get so sick of it and need to turn it off to continue the game.
Suggestions: For the benefit of Xbox gamers, THQ should stop making any XBOX games in future.

Overall: When New legends was first announced, I was pleased that Microsoft and ThQ were on the brink of releasing a title that would challenge Koei's Dynasty Warriors. When the game was released I automatically purchased it thinking it would be good, however, to my dismay this is one of the most crappiest games I have ever played. The graphics are extraneously horrid, and the framerate moves at the speed of molasses. The fighting system as good as it is suffers from the extreme lacadaisical attitude of the A.I. With the Azurik's and Nightcaster type games being released, the X-box is starting to look like a dumping ground for crap games.

Gameplay: I give props to the fighting system, yet with the horrible camera angles and horrible fighting animations the system is never truly utilized. Simply running around and killing things is fun but it would be be better on a non-glitchy fully polished game like Baldur's Gate. To top that off it's not even a multiplayer game.

Overall: This is a good hack-n-slash game with bad graphics and fun gameplay! it is like gaunlet legends but not as cool.
Gameplay: All the gameplay consists of is hacking, slicing and running around. There are some times where you cant figure out where to go and it gets a little boring.
Graphics: these graphics are not so good. They sometimes look worse than the dreamcast! some details are good but other than that :(.
Sound: the sound is ok it gets annoying hearin the blades keep going whoosh whoosh!(It will get into your head and infest your dreams!) the foot steps are a little loud for just puting you foot down! The grunts from you opponents are a good touch.
Suggestions: Try to make the graphics better!

Overall: Worst game ever. Don't spend your money on this game. Not even to rent it. Even if you get it for free you still shouldn't play it.
Gameplay: Sloppy, inconsistent, glitchy. Features disappearing weapons and characters. Combo system is wasted as the game is nothing more than a button mash
Graphics: The graphics would have kicked !&%$@#* on the Playstation 1. There is nothing to comment on here. Don't expect anything wonderful.
Sound: Annoying Chinese music over and over beating into your head and making you into a raving madman. No music at times.
Suggestions: THQ should quit the software business and find something new. They seem to be experts in annoyance and frustration so I recommend something along those lines.

Overall: I compared this game to Dynasty Warriors 3 (PS2 game) hoping since this is on Xbox it would be better. Well you better believe this game isn't even close enough to be better than Dynasty Warriors 2. The overall feel of the game feels rushed. Graphics are alright but at certain times look cel shaded. Sound effects are ok and the music blows. What made me play the game for this amount of time was the gameplay. Once you get your hands on a 2 handed weapon, you can do a ton of combinations. Objectives are simple and even at bosses it's hard to die. What really ruined the game is you are suppose to collect 5 blades. However, just as I found this out, I got 2 of the blades instantly and a third one a little later. It seems like I'm almost done yet I haven't played this game that long. This defintely isn't a buy but it could be worth a rental or two.
Gameplay: For the most part it's good but way too simplistic. Melee weapons take up two hands while standard weapons allow to hold one in each hand. My problem with two one handed weapons is you do the same combo no matter what everytime. Melee Weapons (excluding the Tiger Claw) have 10+ combos which makes this mindless game worth playing. The storyline seems good at first. Once you get out of the prison though it gets extremely boring. There are not many character models so it feels like your just killing clones. The guns in this are worthless. I think a shot from a hand cannon to the face would kill someone but rather it takes 2-3 on most occasions. Another thing I dislike a lot is parrying. This game requires no time to counter an attack. Press the Y button and the guy gets stunned no matter how off you are. This game is way too simple. If you got PS2, Dynasty Warriors 3 is much better, has 2 player, has people to unlock, and is fun as hell. Plus there are like 1,000+ people on screen. In this you usually face about 5 at a time. If you are bored of the DW series, this is worth a rental.
Graphics: There's not much you can say here. DW3 has more people on screen, more buildings, bigger boards etc. and they are nicely detailed. New Legends on the other hand has some poorly done enemies and mediocre mains characters. Very blocky and look cel shaded at times. No where near Xbox quality.
Sound: Very, very repetitive sounds and music. I think this game total has 3 songs and individual songs for each boss (which there aren't many). They music is very pathetic. The sounds of swords clashing and guns firing are close to mute and very poorly done. Yet again, the Xbox can do better than this.
Suggestions: You really got to fix this game up a ton. It has a ton of promise, but it also needs a huge graphical boost, better music and sound, maybe a co-op mode, and pretty much better everything.

Overall: After all the bad action/adventure games for xbox (azurik, obiwan), i was doubtful about this game... but after i played it for a while, i really enjoyed it. The graphics might not be xbox-quality, but it still looks nice. the gameplay was nice and came with A LOT of weapons. but as some-most other xbox games, there seems to be glitches. Like Massive slow downs and game lags for a few seconds when music changes
Gameplay: Tons of Weapons. Big Levels. Enemies that just swarm you (on later levels). A Team of fighters to help you. this game is pretty good. but there are some errors... sometimes, the team mates fall off a cliff or fall far behind you and they just come out of no where in front of you. and they seem to be weak. and it was kinda odd that there was 2 bosses right after each other.

i also really enjoyed the story. it was slow at first, but it got better.
Graphics: The graphics for this game is somewhat weak. the cutscenes were good (w/ voices), but ingame graphics were not xbox-quality. i can't complain much... i've seen much worse :P
Sound: Music and Voice overs were good... but whenever the music track changed, the game would hang for a few seconds.
Suggestions: work more on graphics and try to fix the massive slow downs. New Lengends 2 would be nice.

Overall: Just flat out fun!!!! Some bugs like guys jumping on ur head and stuff. Allies jumping off clifs and magicaly reapering. The fantstic sound but then again the foot steps. Lack luster visuals, but then again the old FF werent about visuals. Game play saves this game and thankfully its nearly prefect. Pick up and play with much more potential but overal a great plot helps this game out in the long run.
Gameplay: Wow!!!!!! From the first reviews i thought that this game would be disapointing. Now, while the graphics may be crude the gameplay is a excellent component of this game. Completly user freindly my freind who cant even play halo got this. I found even after I beat a lvl i could go back and play again. This game is just plain fun!
Graphics: These graphics are just sluggish compared to say halo or wreckless. While the characters in the cinematics are well done the backgrounds seem to boxy. These graphics are better than obi-wan with not as many errors.
Sound: The ancient chinese/buddist music brings a good environment to the game. Good charcter voice overs, good weapon clashing. ONly thing that kept this game from a 5 was the anoying foot steps down stairs. On the kazikstan border rly gets anoying
Suggestions: Multiplayer/ Fix these anoying bugs/ Maybe add a custom soundtrack option

Overall: This game didnt exactly live up to the hype that surrounded it, but nonetheless (is that one word or 15?) it is an excellent game worth $53 (tax and all) the camera could be tricky from time to time and the conbat system was simple, but the main thing that counts- how fun is it? well im telling ya, its fun!
Gameplay: its there, it tends to get redundant, but the nice mix of weapons is sure to keep you coming back for more soo blade and ball hammer action
Graphics: meh, mearly meh, not bad, not ground breaking, it didnt have the !&%$@#* (can i say that?) near perfection of DOA3 but it didnt look as craptastic as IMHO obi wan
Sound: standard fare, you know, crash boom bang clang gash gash AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, that kinda stuff is fun, but not teribly innovative
Suggestions: more weapons (just cuz i like lotsa weapons) and MULTIPLAYER!!!

Overall: A whole lot of Kung Fu gunshooting action. The levels are huge and are very easy to get lost in. A very large playing field unlike Genma which is primarily in one small area. The graphics are pretty good but I am sure that it could have been much better. The concept is golden.
Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty good. The jumps are well done. The only problem is 1) you tend to collide with objects if you do not completely jump over them. In other words you have to give yourself distance for the smallest obstacles. 2) The camera is very good except for the camera controled by the right thumb controller which tends to stop working when Soo is in a place where it is either narrow or his back is to the wall. The good part however is this does not really ruin the game play when you are fighting other characters. The weapons that are hung on his back can be smartly equipped on the fly. He can carry anywhere from your chinese type of old time gun to a slew of hand weapons (these hand weapons you can find on any of your old and new kungfu movies such as the kid with the golden arm, 5 deadly venoms, etc...)The speacial moves and various attacks that can be performed with the different weapons are right on point.
Graphics: Okay at fiest I thought that the graphics were okay. However, the more I played the game the more the 3D worlds detail got better. I will say though the way the characteres talked seemed a bit cheesey because you could see there mouth break up at times. When you beat the first boss and take his axe, just look at the detail in the axe when he totes it on his back, simply put MAGNIFICENT.
Sound: I have a 5.1 surround system and I really got impressed when I escaped from prison and noticed a cannon just sitting along the snow. So I approached the cannon and sat in and shot. WOW did that rock my woofers. The bass literally knocked me off of my seat. I do not think though it would sound good with a TV setup, depending on what type of TV you have. The musical score fith the game very well and sounded pretty good. Althought the music cut on and off when it very well pleased.
Suggestions: I think they should 1) fix the quirky camera and take some notes from the Max Payen engine. 2) Clean up the graphics a bit and eliminate some draw in. 3) Add a multi player feature where a second person can take his or her pick of your most interesting characters.

Overall: Finally New Legends is here and I am on to playing another great Xbox game. The storyline is compelling with Sun Soo's family taking an unexpected departure, if you know what I mean, early in the game. Sun Soo has to get revenge but not in any ordinary type of way, he has to take down the whole army of the man who helped his father and brother along on their way. Kind of to go off-topic, the game reminds me of a Mega Man type of a game. Xao Gon has his 5 devilish and demonic sons who have special swords and strengths. While in Mega Man, the evil doctor had his variety of super robots who has special powers. In both games you are able to get that special powers/swords from the bosses you have defeated and use it in the game. Very fun game if you ask me, you just have to love the style and the techniques that are brought into this game.
Gameplay: The unique style of the fighting is a great addition that makes it stand apart from the other action/adventure titles. Storyline at the beginning helps you get in the mood to avenge you father and brother. Throughout the game you meet many characters who stay with you to fight along side of you when playing. That is a great addition with their extra help when playing. So if your sick of battling just kind of stay to the side while your allies kick some demon butt! The minor characters add a fun prospective to the game. Gaining new weapons is almost one of the finest things to do in this game, and don't get me wrong, there are a lot more very good interests in this game. There are medium sized amount of weapons to use. You can use two at one time, one in one had and one in the other hand. Some weapons require uses of both hands. Weapons have special attacks and 'powers' where you can crack into the ground with a huge axe you gain from a boss and more. You may get a little frustrated with the levels when playing since you may get lost. They are good sized levels and some of them are divided in different sections. Beware, I have been lost in the levels a couple of the times, but that's a good thing, shows the size of the levels or just maybe my ignorance. Let's just hopes it shows the size of the levels. Just incase you get lost like I have, they have a compass like direction pointer, to show what direction to go to. The camera control is actually good quality with only a few problems. A few times it will adjust itself and you will be confused. You can control the camera by pressing the right trigger or moving it around with the right analog stick. Great gameplay which makes the game stand out from others.
Graphics: The graphics aren't too much to brag about, but you can't really complain either. They are well crafted and the backgrounds are very oriented and differ. On the subject of the backgrounds, most every one has a different look to it and every level looks well done when looking at the other titles for the Xbox in New Legends' genre. The characters all look built good, though the enemies only really differ in weapons half of the time. Some look different but more aren't very different at all. The loading times are some what of a bitter impression of the game. They are quite long when loading your game up, but other then that they are short. The game animations are the most splendid thing about the graphics to brag about. They are look solid and accurate to real life martial arts. Comparing to the other titles like Nightcaster, Azurik, Obi-Wan and Batman, I enjoy New Legends graphics the most.
Sound: Voices of the characters are well done and no complaints from their voicing. The sound is an unusual Japanese theme which does it work and pleasures the ear. Nothing real too annoying with the menu music. The only thing that really is a let down, is when your playing, the music will stop for a long period of time and just kick back on. The weapons effects and noises are decent, and sound nice. Note much to gripe about on my part in this particular area.
Suggestions: How about throwing in a co-op multiplayer option? Improve the graphics where they are to the Xbox's fullest potential. Add more weapons to use while playing. Fix the long stretches where no music is played. Maybe have more bosses to fight and win their weapons from. More cut-scenes and dialogues. You did a good job on the voices, so how about expanding the story and characters more with lots more of dialogue. Of course maybe add some alternate music to hear though too. A wide variety is always nice to hear. Just make it more longer of a game too. Overall though, if you put New Legends up against Nightcaster, Azurik, Obi-Wan, Batman Vengeance and maybe throw in Genma. I would have to say out of those Xbox action and adventure titles, New Legends might just be the best one to choose. Even though Genma is a great game though too.

Overall: Beat-em-up with selectable weapons. Lack of game options/modes are kind of a drawback, but fast and fun gameplay and a great plot make up for it. It does have some technical issues like camera control and the way enemies will jump on your head, making it difficult to hit them. If you like Dynasty Warriors you will probably like this, although the lack of unlockable characters means less replay value. All in all a fun game, even if it has some problems.
Gameplay: It's all about the gameplay. Pick 2 1-handed weapons or 1 2-hander and smash your way through waves of enemies. Each weapon has it's own combos and characteristics, everything from clubs to futuristic guns. Missions usually involve combat, but not always, and the objectives are varied.
Graphics: Not really up to Xbox standards, but it looks as good or better than Obi-wan. Character models are blocky and the buildings are fairly undetailed. Animations look great though and the combos flow smoothly.
Sound: I almost promise you will want to turn down the effects volume. It seems much louder than the other sound, and sometimes makes it hard to hear the other characters (especially Boo (although it does keep a log of what they say)). Music has a Chinese theme, it fits, but isn't very memorable. Voice acting is miles better than what you usually get in action games.
Suggestions: More game modes, multiplayer, don't let enemies jump on your head.
