Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Overall: I went out and bought an XBOX just for this game. Throughout the game you can complete different tasks in various ways. This appeals to me because I like playing missions and doing them in different ways. Most games like this don't allow you to do so like Hitman and its sequel. The graphics are amazing, the sounds a realistic, and the gameplay is awesome.

Gameplay: If you like sneaking around in games this is totally for you. This is game really targets the stealth aspect. You get to some levels where you can't kill anyone or set off any alarms. It gets a little difficult at times, but if it didn't this game wouldn't be worthe the time it takes to go through the training. I like how you can use one joystick for moving and the other for looking. Another thing that I have always liked in games like this is sneaking up on an enemy and using them as a human shield. Very cool stuff I am enjoy and still go back and play the missions to try and better my stealth tactics.

Graphics: I have never seen a game with this much detail in the textures and lighting. In fact there is a little behind the scenes segment with the developers talking about what they did to make the game the way it is. Very cool lighting, you use the darkness and your "light meter" to sneak around. When I saw the commercials I just assumed those were clips from the ingame movies. I was suprised to find out those were actually clips from the game. The nightvision is also very cool too.

Audio: The sound is really good, but it has to be because you must listen for the sounds to know where to go next or to hear if someone is behind a corner. The game sounds really good on surround sound.

Suggestions: I have yet to check out the downloadable missions so I might end up speaking too soon, but I would like to have more missions that are fun to play over and over again. I am sure that once I beat this game I will probably not play it again because there is no multiplayer mode or levels where you can just have fun sneaking around or taking people out other then the training level. If the developers could just make it so the game wasn't over once you beat that would be great.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 New Legends

Overall: The appeal of the game was great I really thought it was going to be a fun game. I WAS WAY WRONG. Totally a disappointment.

Gameplay: You cannot go anywhere exploring. You must go when and where the game wants you to go. Why make a game in a 3D environment and then limit the user to where they can go. Make a side scroller and be done with it.

Graphics: The graphics were ok. Nothing special. You can find any game on the shelf with the same graphics. There wasn't anything this game had that others don't have.

Audio: I didn't really pay much attention to the sounds so I will have to give a 3.0 I am giving it a 3.0 to be fair to both sides.

Suggestions: Work on the AI a little more. Totally work on the gameplay and enable a player to actually play the game instead of just doing what the screen tells them to do. There is a difference between tasks to do in a level and then telling a person how to do them and when to do them. Where is the fun in that?
