Description

Turok: Evolution is a prequel that takes us back to the origins of the Turok lineage. In the beginning of the game, we see our hero, Tal'Set, fighting his nemesis Captain Tobias Bruckner in 1886 Texas. During the battle, a rift between their world and the Lost Lands opens and Tal'Set is sucked into it.

Tal'Set, injured and near death, is nursed back to health by the natives of the River Village, a colony in hiding from the Lost Land's greatest threat: the Lord Tyrannus and his reptilian hordes. Tal'Set becomes a reluctant participant in the brutal war that is raging in the Lost Land. Bent on a "holy mission" to purify the land through slaughter and misery, Tyrannus appoints a new general to his armies, and Tal'Set discovers to his horror that it is Bruckner, who was also swept into the Lost Lands through the rift.

Turok: Evolution is an epic adventure of treachery, exploration, and war in a land of lush jungles, suspended cities, mysterious temples, reptile armies, and towering dinosaurs.

Overall: There is a reason why this game can't be sold for more than 5 bucks on Ebay. It's a game only for hardcore fans. Only someone with unlimited time and patience would enjoy this game. If you get frustrated by "jump manuevers" skip this right now. If you like investing 1 hour into a level, only to restart again because of a death, then buy this game.
Gameplay: Very appealing by the description and initial play. Killing dinosaurs, sniper mode, swimming etc. I loved the "prehistoric" background as I "hunted" as a FPS. But then you need to jump about 4 feet to grab a weapon and you fall 90% of the time as you cant see your feet. Then, you are fortunate to get into a difficult FPS situation, but it you die, you get to go back to the level start, and kiss an hour of play goodbye. If you want a fun FPS and dont mind learning obscure skills, and starting over hours back, then this is your game.
Graphics: I was happy with the graphics. They are not top notch, but they are up there with 90% of the games out there of this genre. The visuals are not the problem with this game.
Sound: I don't care much about the sound, it seemed as good as any other game of its genre. Nothing special, typical arrow/gun sounds
Suggestions: Hire people to play the game on XBOX before you release it. They would have told you what a steaming pile of excrement this game is. I paid $40 for this on Ebay and now it's worth less than a AOL Signup CD.

Overall: Turok is a straight forward shooter and so is my review. Some levels are hard, some stupid "The flying levels" but I paid $15.00 cdn. for this game new and it was well worth it.
Gameplay: The game play is fun,its fairly hard but thats because the save points are few and far between. The controls are easy to handle.
Graphics: The graphics are not that bad in this game, pretty good actually. The first level looked poor, which scared me but they drasticly improved.
Sound: It didn't really stand out as anything special. But a couple of the levels with sirens got anoying. Didn't seem to be a big part of the game.

Overall: Man o' man when i found out there was a new turok game coming out, i about died because i really enjoyed the other turok games for the n64; So i thought that the turok evolution game would keep the "turok name" alive. And this is what i found out when i got it...
Gameplay: Well, the gameplay in my opinion is probably the only strong part of the game. Most chapters keep you awake such as chapter 7 and 8. That is where the battles are taking place. There are 15 chapters , which the game isnt short but chapter 15 itself is when you face Dr. Bruckner, or whoever that guys name is spelled. The dinosaur he is on takes forever to kill because you dont get the rocket launcher. But anyways, the weapons are average. In my opinion the shotgun, mines and plasma gun were the only good weapons. Bad thing is that you dont get all of those 3 in the beginning. Your stuck with the warclub and simple bow and arrow. Later on in the chapter you get a better bo, A tekbow. One thing i thought was hard to kill and got on my nerves were the raptors because of their size.( talking about the small ones) The multiplayer is good, enough multiplayer games to keep you alive.
Graphics: The graphics were not so cool. Everything except the dinosaurs looked like it was still N64 graphics. I think they should have really worked on the graphics capabilites better, especially the plants and trees. Those looked 2d. Horrible graphics, even on every system (xbox ,ps2 ,and gc speaking) No big improvements. And the mountain part....no you see it...uh oh it just disappeared. That is ps one stuff. very disappointing in that.
Sound: The voices were horrible, they sounded all crackled and muffled. the explosions the sounding of the fire flames were probbaly the only good sounding things, and oh yeah, the dinosaurs sounded good up close but it would have been better if you could have heard them far away better.
Suggestions: Better graphics, better distant dinosaur sounds, better weapons.

Overall: What is this? I thought this was going to be a great game due to the advertising. After playing this game I am that more less of a gamer.
Gameplay: The controls were ok but they were about the best thing in the game and they were even that bad. Never again.
Graphics: What happenend to being able to see mountains and trees, or be walking and all of a sudden a mountain disappears.
Sound: I think they were going for the worst game of all time with this one. It may even compete against the appauling ET: The Extra Terrestrial.

Overall: This game is awesome. First of all there are no control problems. Every once in a while AI will do funny crap but overall this is one of the best FPS's I've ever played. You Play as Tal Set. He is an American Indian trying to save his tribe from Tyrannus, and some buffalo hunter. Once you play this game you will love it. Everything about the game is awesome. There is awesome multiplayer. In multiplayer there is about 20 stages to play on. There are also tons of weapons. Go out and buy this game today.
Gameplay: In this game the control is awesome. It is very responsive unlike other games. There are no problems with walking, or running. There are tons of levels.
Graphics: This game looks awesome. The 3D characters are very well designed, and the designers used bump mapping very succesful.
Sound: Sound effects are clear and the voicing for the enemies is awesome. When the dinosaurs talk they sound like what you would think a dinosaur would sound like.
Suggestions: MAKE A SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall: Turok: Evolution is the latest game in the Turok seris. The game consists of FPS and 3rd person flights. The game takes place in a time where dinosaurs roam the earth, and you must stop a race of mutant looking dinosaurs. Sadly I could not get too much of the story because well, there are only about 3-4 cut scenes; one in the beggining, one at the end, and 1-2 in the middle. Because of this, Turok is a very hard game to follow. With some unforgiving controls for flight, and its extremely hard difficulty; Turok disapoints.
Gameplay: The game consists of FPS and flight modes. The flight mode is fun, well up untill you are in close quarters, AND IF YOU CRASH ONCE ITS BACK TO THE BEGINING OF THE LEVEL! and when you play FPS and you get to the end and get shot in the head or fall on some spikes, well, back to the begining of the very long level. Now, if you want a challenge than thats fine. For people like me who like to enjoy a game, and not play a level up to 20+ times because I made one silly mistake. The game also has some annoyingly hard puzzles for an FPS, like find three tiny little glowing keys in the jungle. Well, for one I crawled into a log which I walked past a few times. One was in a tree, which took me about 30 minutes to get there, and then one was out of my reach. Well, I finally figured out, after many trials which some killed me, that you jump off the side of the mountain so you land on a little outstreached rock. Then there will be a tunnel underground, leading to a ladder, which leads to the key. The game is frustratinly difficult. The multiplayer is actually VERY nicely done. With the choice to battle your friends as a gun toting person, or a ferocious raptor.
Graphics: The visuals are actually very good. When you start torching a enemy, they fall and roll on the ground before you. You can even see like a blur coming out of the fire from gases, and smoke. The dinosaurs look very good as well as most of the other things. The enemys limbs blow off and blood spurts out, but sadly you have to worry about dying all the time to appreciate the vast landscapes.
Sound: The sound is very well done. On jungle levels you can hear sounds of dinosaurs and bushes shaking which can sometimes be the difference between life and death.
Suggestions: Could you make more difficulty levels than HARD. Otherwise it was good.

Overall: Turok:Evolution is the latest in the Turok franchise. I've never played any of the previous installments so this is a fresh slate for me. The storyline is rather convoluted, involving mythical warriors in a lost world populated by dinosaurs and evil lizard men. The good guys switch randomly between an aboriginal tribe and high-tech marines living in a city suspended in the sky. Good stuff.
Gameplay: The game consists of both FPS levels and flight levels, where you go through a linear course on the back of a Quetzalcoatlus. The controls are good, although it took me awhile to figure out how to use the zoom. The levels are populated to the point where it is just rediculous. There are so many kinds of animals running around in this game, and even more kinds of enemies. You have a huge variety of weapons, from a melee club to a poison-tipped bow to a minigun to a gravity disruptor. The levels are all on the challenging side, which is heightened by very sparse save points. Some of the levels toward the end have you fighting countless enemies of the same type while you run back and forth through the same small area, and that can get rather tedious. But the game has some truley amazing gameplay moments as well. The enemy AI is impressive. The evil lizard men take cover, work as a team, and surrender when they've had enough.
Graphics: I don't understand why people say this game has poor graphics. Visually, Turok is far superior to Halo, both in variety and detail. From the perspective of my sick and sadistic mind, this game is great because of excessivly gory death animations. You can blast the arms, legs, or head off all the different enemies, or chew them to shreds with the minigun. You can unleash swarms of micro-chainsaws that shred the evil lizard men before your eyes. Its a great visual gore fest that you never get tired of. The look of the maps is a mixed bag. Some of them are absolutly brilliant like the suspended city, while others suck horendously, like some of the outdoor enviorments.
Sound: The music and animal sounds are top notch, but mostly Turok fails in the sound catogory because of the character voices. You can barley understand the garbled giberish the evil lizard men are spewing, and ussually I just tune it out. When other humans give you an order, they just mumble it and you can't hear them. Half the time I was wandering around not knowing what I was supposed to be doing because of the terrible sound.
Suggestions: Turok is a pretty long game, and if you cut out some of the more repetative parts you'd still have a solid game. I would have shortened Turok a bit, improved the sound, and added bots to the multiplayer.

Overall: This game is defiantly not as bad as some people make it out to be. I have always been a turok fan, and have been waiting for another member of the turok lineage to be put into my console. Turok 1 was a great game, a classic. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil was also a great game. Not as good as the first...but good. Turok 3. Shadow of Oblivion failed miserably. So I have been waiting for another turok game based in the lost world with dinosaurs. So why not have a prequel! In Turok: Evolution, you are Tal' Set. The first Turok. You ultimate goal is to have revenge on your "real world" enemy, Captain Bruckner who has terrorized your tribe. Captain Bruckner also fell into the lost world, with you. He has befriended the evil of the Lost World. I'll admit the first couple of levels are bland and boring. But if you keep p laying long enough to be sensible, then you will see the fun in this game. This game has many mixed reviews, so i suggest that you rent it first. But it is a pretty solid game.
Gameplay: As always the gameplay in Turok is great. The AI is very good. This is also the first Turok, in which you can fly. No no, turok doesent have wings. He has a bird. Ptero....something can't remember the name. The bird is armed with machine guns, and missles, and is ready to fight. But before you get to fly, you start out on foot. Traditionally, just like it's predecessors Turok: Evolution has it's share of weapons. Anywhere from your sniper pistol, to your tek bow, to your rocket launcher. And many of your weapons have secondary functions, which is a nice thing to have when you need that extra punch. The thing i miss about older Turoks is collecting the diamond type things, and the puzzles. Games today just aren't difficult enough, and don't have enough puzzles to solve. They need to make you use your brain more often.

Back to Turok. There is a vast array of levels, from the jungle, to stealth missions. The gameplay can get a bit repetative and boring though. But overall the gameplay is very fun.
Graphics: This is the bad part of Turok: Evolution. The graphics aren't great by any means. The enviroments are a bit 2D and the terrain is a bit too repetative. I suggest that they get a whole new graphics engine. The character models are ok, on a brighter note.
Sound: Once again the sound is repative. But the guns sound great, and the enemies voices are cool. The music....hmm i can't seem to recall any music. I don't remember paying attention to the music, too much action :D.
Suggestions: More enviroment interaction, totaly redo the graphics, give the game a bit more variety, make a sequel, and keep it in the dinosaur age!

don,t think or believe that TUROK
EVOLUTION is a bad game ,it,s kind a
different,i am a FPS master,you wanna
know some of the best i played, here is a

honor,doom,quake,halo. it,s that enough
for you guys? TUROK is not a bad
game, perhaps it can be fix next time, but i
just love first person shooters and turok
deserves a good review.
Gameplay: the shooting need to be more agressive
and intense, some of the characters look
like the ones in unreal champion, wich i
believe is a crappy game if you don,t
have xbox live like me. turok is hard whet
you are flying, but with a little bit of
practice you can make a diference.
Graphics: well,what can i say?the graphics are
bad,but i don,t if the game is good
enough to keep me happy, give yourself
a chance xboxaddicts,this is xbox,not
ps2 or gamecube,we have the best.
Sound: not bad after all,at least better than ps2
and gamecube versions,so why should i
make any complaints?i pay $35 for this
game and i got some fun, even if i know
that is a crappy shooter,so what it,s a
shooter and i love every single one.
Suggestions: graphics need some work and for the
gameplay make it harder for all this
wanna be fps fans ,so they have enough
reasons to cry about it.make a sequel
and good luck.

Overall: Great game, a bit repetative, but it's what you would expect, it's pretty much go around killing dinosaurs until your finished the level then move onto the next one and do exactly the same thing, it's good that there is a few levels where you get to fly, while shooting down dinosaurs.
Gameplay: Good controls with lots of nice weapons and fair bit to do, nice levels, the multiplayer and sinlge player mode are pretty good, it would be nice to have a 2 player co-op career mode.
Graphics: Nice looking dinosaurs and levels, the weapons and players look nice, some of the surroundings could use a bit of fixing.
Sound: Nice sounding, could use some better music, the dinosaurs sound allright and the guns sound pretty goood.

Overall: I rented this game due to the bad reviews I've read, which prevented me from purchasing it outright. It's amazing to me that some people will give a lousy title like "Ghost Recon" great reviews, but diminish Turok into the toilet with inferior reviews. Mind you, I'm not saying Turok is a great game, because it's not really revolutionary on any level. My favorites for the Xbox are "Halo" and "Splinter Cell", two definite winners. What I will say is that Turok is a blast to play, regardless of its shortcomings. Given the fact that you can pick this title up for about $15-25 these days, it's a great buy.
Gameplay: I have thoroughly enjoyed playing Turok Evolution for the week that I rented it. I got sucked in to the point that I was putting in three hours a night trying to beat it before turning it back in. I should add at this point that the length of this game blows almost everything else out of the water. I am only half way through currently and it feels like I've been playing forever. I've noticed that a lot of the bad reviews are from people that didn't get too far into it, which is a shame. The later levels are much better than the initial ones and the amount of combat in them is great. I love the number of weapons you can use and the fact that you can dismember enemies or blow their heads off is awesome. For people that need an outlet for their aggression, this game is it! Shoot an enemy with a poison arrow and watch them fall to their needs and vomit. Shoot their heads off and watch their arteries shoot blood straight into the air! This review sounds sick, but you get the idea. I've found that some later levels are a breeze with the right weapon choice and tactics, but almost impossible otherwise. The challenge is what draws me in and keeps me going. I would seriously rank the gameplay right up there with the best of them. The flying levels are somewhat annoying and difficult, I'll admit. Games like Splinter Cell have better graphics and artifical intelligence, but for Turok actually appealed to me more in terms of an all out combat fest.
Graphics: There's good and bad here. I like the look of the dinosaurs and some of the small creatures scurrying around on the ground, they can actually be rather impressive. The textures are not up to Xbox standards, as a matter of fact, this resembles the PS2 in many ways, but the game definitely looks better on the Xbox, as usual. To be honest, I always focus on graphics for the first few levels of any game, but the true test is the later levels of any title. If the gameplay is good enough, like Turok, I begin to acclimate to the game and the lack of polished graphics don't effect me at all as I become accustomed to them. If the graphics are stellar, but the gameplay is lousy, I'll eventually lose interest no matter how good it looks. For those that haven't played Turok, I don't want to give the impression that the visuals are bad, they're just not quite what they could have been. Take a look at the screenshots above and see for yourself.
Sound: Great use of surround sound. Definitely a plus with a DD 5.1 sound system. Makes you feel like you're in the jungle. Explosions sound great along with the weapons.
Suggestions: Use Xbox exclusive enhancements in the future.

Overall: PLEASE READ! This is perhaps the worst game made for the X-Box. I can't believe anyone not on heavy medication would give this game a 5 unless they were somehow involved in it's creation. This game has absolutely no redeeming qualities-- and I'm a fan of FPS and never tire of new ones! If you like choppy views, no AI, no physics, and difficult areas that you are forced to jump too-- this game may be for you, but only if you want a lack of plot coupled w/ a lack of realism! I only spent 5 bucks for the rental, but I still feel cheated and wished I had spent it on a value meal-- I would have received more enjoyment, and for a longer time. It's so bad that the Lead Designer should never be employeed in this industry again, I have no idea how this got released!
Gameplay: A game this bad you'd think it'd be hard to determine what the worst aspect is-- but it's not. It's the gameplay. It's so bad it deserves negatives, but let me explain. Let's go over the good stuff first, it's shorter: the controls are your standard FPS XBox controls. Now the bad: first, their is no physic engine in the game, when you jump, you jump as if there are rubber bands tied to your ankles and the ground. Up and one speed, then you snap back down at the same, constant speed. Your shoes must have lead in them too, b/c you have a 4 inch jump. Not too bad, it's a FPS, who needs to jump? You do. The Game Designer decided to put "keys" in hard to reach places. There's no real logical reason for them or the aliens that carried it to be in a place so hard to get to, but that way you can appreciate the lack of effort they put into jumping. The worse is the AI, or lack of it all together. There are 2 AI settings "bad-guy" and "good-guy" creatures. Bad-guys will attack you if they see you, but have no tactics-- even worse, if you shoot a bad guy in the back, he won't turn around to see you, but continue on walking. Good guys just eat. I was chopping a stegasaurus in the head, and he just stood there and ate until I finally killed him. Another moved, and couldn't step on me, he was forced to move his 3 ton body around me. When the Tricertops ran and pushed over trees I was impressed. I thought they added AI to at least one creature. But then he just continued to run in a circle, and ran, and ran. A Baboon (bad-guy) jumped from a ledge and died on impact (smart ape!), another chased me and fell into a 2' pond and died on contact w/ the water! But then I saw a Raptor!! Just like in the movies, they hunt in packs-- but attack one at a time! The fast dino's that they are, you can out run them back pedalling. They also use their famous jump and rake attack-- no, just playing, they just bite you like every other creature. I shot one in the back in the swamp, and he just kept walking b/c he couldn't see me. They are great hunters!
Graphics: I give it a 2, b/c it can take good still shots. The models are good, but the visuals are so choppy and disorinting that it made me physically nauseous. Your scope of view is narrow, and they don't seem to use a point of perspective (angled view so that you see a larger area in the distance). Instead, they use an atiquated engine that shows you a corridor type view. The amount of foliage, and the bouncing while you walk/run made me sick (or perhaps it was the gameplay that did that). My brother got a headache from it. The foliage, which is annoying, looks horrible up close! BTW: you can chop down small trees, but not tiny ferns!!
Sound: The diverse sounds of dinosaurs! In Turok, all animals believe in stealth, evidently. With the money they saved on programmers (evident in gameplay and the little graphic engine that couldn't), you'd expect the sounds to be great, or at the very least average. The wild howlings that baboons are famous for don't exist. The baboons sometimes squek out a lil bark. Dino's graze w/o making a sound to their small herd, and even when attacked are quiet. Yes, sounds are almost completely missing in Turok. What a pathetic waste of a game.
Suggestions: I alternated play w/ my brother so we could stomach down 2 hours and 2 levels; I doubt I'll ever play it again. This game has peaked my morbib couriosity as to what the games are like that are ranked lower though! My suggestion: fire the development team and forget you made this game. It has less play value than pong

Overall: This game is superb. 1 player mode is truly magnificent and the jungle has an eerie feel to it . 2 player mode is the most fun you will ever have , much better than Halo (In 2 player mode)
Gameplay: The basic plot is you go around massive jungles with Big guns and grenades killing things that try to kill you . Sound good ? , YOU BET IT DOES !
Graphics: Graphcially , this game is beaten by no other. It truly is a work of art and you will need roughly an hour before you actually start playing to just sit and look at the graphics.
Sound: All the sounds from the jungle are included . All the sound effects from the guns are in there too . The voice acting could have been a little bit clearer , apart from that , Excellent.

Gameplay: The game is creative. I got a cheat cose to see the last levels since I only had a rental. I think the flying levels were great. The gave overall was challenging, maybe too challenging.

Overall: So far this game has been fun, I would not put it on the same level as Halo as 3d shooters go. But over all the game is a fun game. I also really like the weapon selection in the game.
Gameplay: Not much in the way of real concentration outside of blow away of everything that you come across. The biggest plus so far has been the flying in the game. The biggest minus is the jungles are annoying at times with all the 2d plants you can get.
Graphics: Graphics here fall into two catagories. Dinosuars and Other, the Dinosuars (like T Rex and Stegos) are decent graphics. The rest is not what todays standards are. 2d plannts dominiate your vision, water graphincs are not the best either. Decent Graphics but nothing spectacular.
Sound: The sounds are decent to really cool (mainly for the weapon effects, so far that I have ran into noting stands out but nothing is bad either.
Suggestions: If they make another Turok they need to take advantage of all the Game Systems Graphics. The Graphics I have seen on this I was playing on my P2 400 megahertz machine.

I also loved the way you could wack down trees to kill some dinsaurs. The graphics from the guns were astounding for example when you fired a rocket the steam and the heat were lanching out of it. I also loved the multi player mode. You battle dinosaurs on some levels which I thought was great. The cooles is the robot sider. you can controll a small spider camera that can explode or shoot deadly gas. Over all the game needed co-op but it was almost better than the first.
Graphics: The graphics were okay. If you have a high resolution TV you will be okay. But if you got a bad TV this game will get you pissed.
Sound: the sound absolutly blowed. The character voices were really fuzzy and hard to make out. I have a toshiba and all other games sound great. It is a poor excuse for an xbox game.
Suggestions: make better garphics on the game. It is 2002 an the xbox rovolutionizes gaming but with Turok I feel Iam playing nintendo 64

Overall: This is not a classis like part one. When part one came out, I like it, it was the hottest FPS game out. Part 2 was good too, never played part 3. But Turok Evolution is nohing like part 1, well kinda. The guns are the same, graphics are crap. Controls I don't like much. I thik they should of took more time on this game.
Gameplay: The guns are the same but I like them. The new gun system is hot(two kinds of weapon in one). The best part about Turok is the blood. All there is, is blood. Like that alot. But it's the same to me.
Graphics: The graphics are crap, I mean it they didn't even use Xbox's cababilities. On PS2, they didn't use ps2's cabilities. The plants look so !&%$@#* fake. Very mad about that.
Sound: Sound is okay, like the gun noises. Hated when the enemies talk, it gets annoying. The sound is probably the best feature in Turok.
Suggestions: Take more time on building a good game. If you make another part, I say quit, if not take at least 2 years making it to be a classic.

Overall: Since my bro took my Xbox, I've been going to all of my friends houses and playing all their new games. The controls in Turok are similar to Halo. There are plenty of weapons, a very challenging one player, and a pretty entertaining multiplayer experience. This is defintely worth at least a rental.
Gameplay: When turning and moving it's a bit stiff even when sensitivity is jacked up. The one player experience is very challenging (at least the chapter I played). The dinosaurs also do some interesting stuff. My friend was standing in some bushes where apparently a dinosaur didn't see him and after sitting there for a little while the dinosaur took a crap. LOL! First time I've seen someone take a crap in a video game. Thr multiplayer although fun, has some way, way , way too powerful weapons. For example, there is a grenade and when detonated covers a huge area with this silver substance that's very shiny. Walk into that and you die. It's an instant kill and there are plenty of'em around the boards. So I'd make sure you turn those off. I also like decapitation kills and shooting people's bodies till they explode. True its not very realistic when you shoot and arrow and a person explodes, but it still looks cool non-the-less. This is a pretty good game and could serve as a substitute for Halo maybe for a week or 2 or more in the multiplayer department.
Graphics: This was gonna get a lower rating, but when I saw Turok on the PS2, the Xbox version looks so much better. The characters are fairly detailed as are the weapons, but trees and bushes are pretty weak in detail. The graphics defintely aren't an eye sore but they aren't exactly eye candy.
Sound: I love all the loud noises the guns make in this game and all the noises dinosaurs make. Didn't really pay attention to the music so I dunno if that's good or not. You can hear other random wildlife sounds when you are waiting around. Pretty good job. Oh btw, I forgot to mention I love chasing the deer in this game and killing them. It's so much fun! I haven't done anything like that since Deer Hunter so you might wanna give it a try.
Suggestions: A pretty good job. Maybe add some more multiplayer characters and how bout System Link or XBL support?

Gameplay: The Gameplay was pretty good, I liked how it's always on run.The viewing was a little tedeous... but never the less the gameplay was still solid.
Graphics: The graphics were good, the textures were well placed. But I was a little curious why they didn't use bump-mapping. The trees looked too 2D, but the character models were impressive.
Sound: The sound was great, the musical score was well composed, but in my opinion it sounded too much like Star Wars.

Overall: Overall very a engrossing experience. The game gets better the longer I play. The challenge of the levels are just about exactly righ: Challenging but not frustrating.
Gameplay: As stated above, this game is very fun to play and will challenge you without frustrating you. The controls are very configurable and easy to get used to. Targeting is very well balanced.
Graphics: BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD . . . The rest of the graphics are something of a mixed bag. In general, the landscapes are beautiful with looonnngg draw distances. However, the 2-D plants are pitiful (very PS2).
Sound: Very, very good. The sound track makes good use of 5.1. Explosions (especially enemy bodies exploding!) are very satisfying.

Overall: I will never forget the excitation of the first Turok when acclaim brought it to Nintendo 64. The gore and the violence was the main attraction and possibly a new genre was born. Naturally few people will tell that Doom and Wolfenstein was the first Fps ever done but in my mind has i said before it was a evolution in the world of first person shooter. Let's return to our main subject, Turok : Evolution. Probably that most of you will say that evolution is the sequel of shadow of oblivion but it's not. In fact, it should be considerated like the first turok because the story is talking about the history of this game. In conslusion, i don't want to give more information about the game so i will let you read my review but before i will give you an advice : if you want to lose money for a bit a fun, it's your chance.
Gameplay: The control setting in turok look like the one that you seem in Halo : Combat Evolded except that you only have the inverted version of it. I remember something that i dislike in this game and it was the previous and the next weapon button. I mean that this type of button should be exclusive to pc because on x-box the button are restricted so they can use it for increase the gameplay not to lower him. Some little thing have been added but they really need to be deeper like : you can cut off a tree but it disapear after a while and they are not useful, the pistol with a scope is great but it's so slow. So let's talk about about the artificial intelligent ! The enemies are so dumb, they alway hiding somewhere and they got some heavy gun that are most powerful than our.
Also the flight mode is a good add but in my mind i don't need this to enjoy a first person shooter. Finally, i will finish this part of my review with this little question : Why does i am unable to pick up a ennemi's weapon ?
Graphics: When i saw the first level i was feeling so sick, the game was falling into a big creek for me. Just watch the plant that are in 2 dimension, the water with no waves, the grass textures and the worst character ever done. I must admit that after the third chapter the background graphic turn into a better experience. The video are also one of the worst ever done on x-box or any console because when i saw the face of the character, i was able to see no eyes that are detailed or lips that are moving.
Sound: I didn't notice something interresting in the sound or the music. In fact it was probably just ok if i didn't remember something.
Suggestions: Better view in multiplayer, better graphic because it is a major problem in that game and if you want more sujestion just read my review !

Overall: Not bad first 2 levels boring, yeh yeh they were slow not much going on.
flyiing levels are alittle hard and annoying, could of been better there.
action get's better later in the game, still not what i expected. i bought this game sent it back. I rented it to play it more! and review it,it's not a bad game but it isn't great it's a little above average game, which should of been released in 2003 with a more polish game and overall graphic and controls.
Gameplay: Feels like n64 days with slight better graphics, same old story with flying missions, game picks up during later chapter's , which is good. some real good action in this game multiplayer cannot hold halo or golden eye's jockstrap!
Graphics: Not next gen graphics at all could of been much better, some good points and lot's of bad one's too

needed more time and effort put into this game, 2d textures? what the hell! just walk to an edge on the map and look, i call that lazy! some graphic's in this game look good, come on people would of rather seen graphics like in unreal or halo? im not saying all of it is bad, but it does not use the xbox's power!
Sound: excellent overall i really think they spent most of there time on the sound dept on this game.

Overall: It's Turok. It's all about hunting and destroying anythin in your path. But it's has a very interesting stealth aspect to it and will at time make you think about if you should go in guns blazing, or pick your foes off one at a time.
Gameplay: The biggest problem I had with the game was the lack of customizing you could do with your controller. I'm spoiled by Halo and it took me sometime to get use to the set up. But once I did, and fix the horizontal and vertical speed, I was in pure bliss. Ok, there are times when the enemies will get the drop on you, cheaply. But when those happened early and not often. When it comes to the game, it's fun. I never spent so time trying to figure out how to go about the mission before I even take my first step. There are times when so much stuff happens you can lose your step, but that makes the game fun. It gets really quiet and one slip-up, BAM! You're swarmed. The AI can be good, to "What is he thinking about." But make no mistake, it's good. Get to know your weapons. I have my fav, but all the weapons are usefull. I have a problem with the jumping around. Some people complained about the first two levels, explore and get to know the game. You'll need it.
Graphics: It's not "Halo-killer." It's not suppose to be. It's Turok. I find the graphics good. I find the bushes a bit "pixxy," but nowhere near enough to halt the fun in the game. There is tons of blood and guts, but you can turn this off. This isn't the selling point of the game. It's beautiful, the countryside is. And the indoor chapters are well done. If you can find some quiet-time, take a look around.
Sound: When a bullet comes flying towards you, you will know. Everything sounds good. this is the better parts of the game.
Suggestions: Configure the controller to any's style of play!! That's my biggest complaint. I straff with my right thumbstick. Think about it.

Overall: I bought a Xbox to play shooters from my couch and since HALO and Max Payne there has been nothing. James Bond was really bad IMO. Untill now. As far as a FPS shooters go this game has it all. Tons of guns, blood, large levels. Many of the guns explosive type effects are exellent surpassing that of HALO's easily. Controls are very easy to handle as well. This game is not amazing IMO but it definetly fills a void for my Xbox gaming needs till XBL appears.
Gameplay: Fans of HALO will need about 10 seconds to learn the controls. The controls for this game are exellent. I did feel the aiming was a little off comapred to HALO's but its top notch none the less. There is auto aim as well but I have not tried it. There has been no need :^)

Graphics: Visually is where this game lacks. Graphics wise this game just does not meet my expectations for the Xbox. Water is horrible. Most of the terrain is very blocky appearing and the trees and shrubs look awfull up close. I would have liked better texturing as well. There is great gore though in the game though which I really like lol. When you pop a baddie in the head blood shoots out of there neck all over the place. Equally enjoyable is using the poison arrow and wathcing the baddies vomit while they die.
Sound: While the sounds themselfs are average to good this game is great in Dobly Digital and at times the music really draws you in.
Suggestions: An Xbox only version to use the muscle Xbox owners paid for + the addtition of XBL or altleast LAN play would make this game a real hit.

Overall: I went into this game with limited
expectations. I had never played a
Turok game, and new nothing more
than it had Dinosaurs. I was more
than surprised. I am actually
enjoying this game. It's a bit
more gory than Halo (so parents, be
warned), and for some that can be a
downer and for some that can be a
bonus; me, I could not have the
blood and guts and be fine. I
wouldn't call this a Halo killer,
but it's still a great bit of fun.
Gameplay: The major beef I had with James
Bond was how they completely messed
up the controls after Halo had set
such a clear precedent. Luckily,
Turok didn't follow in Bond's
footsteps. The controls are
precise (you can actually adjust it
as you see fit) and easy to use.
Overall gameplay is your normal
FPS, up to a point, where they
throw in some flying action a la
Starfighter. It took me a couple
of tries of severe pteradactyl
abuse to shift gears into flight
mode, but I got the hang of it.
The flight control is a bit more
realistic than Starfighter (hello,
there is GRAVITY on a planet!) but
you're still very mobile. Only
problem is it gets repetitive
quickly, so by the time you finish
a chapter of flight, you're ready
to be back in FPS. Speaking of,
the weapons are fun, especially the
tech bow. It's a real kick to take
off a baddie's head with a
well-placed arrow. The grenades
aren't as cool as Halo, as well as
the guns. But overall, not too
shabby.
Graphics: On one hand, really cool, and
another, almost cheesey. There's a
lot of blood and guts, and it gets
to the point of ridiculousness at
times. The levels are expansive,
though with varying levels of
quality (some of the plants look
like they're ported). The
dinosaurs are cool looking, to the
point of almost being impressive.
Decent job, guys.
Sound: This was great for me. From the
pull of the bow, to teh smack of
the ax, to the whistling of the
bullets bouncing by, they did it
right. And one of the things I
appreciate most they included: the
background music changes from level
to level. Don't get me wrong, I
love Halo, but that song gets stuck
in my head and it drives me crazy!
Good work.
Suggestions: I realize the demographic this game
is aimed at, but c'mon. Blood for
the sake of gore is pointless.
Other than that, good job!!!

Overall: Intangibles - The flight sequences add variety to the game, but I prefer the FPS mode by far. It took me a while to figure out that I can climb up moss/ivy branched on the sides of the cliffs and that I could hang from the same material when its stretched across the canyon. I hated getting my a$$ kicked by a troop of baboons. I've worked my way up to getting my a$$ kicked by a T-Rex...I have used the Tech-Bow, Pistol with sniper attachment, bow and club. I'm about to get the shotgun. The weapons thus far have been very fun, especially the tech bow with poison arrows. I can't wait to get the tech bow sniper attachment. Sniping works just like Halo which is a good thing. I'm having a good time with the game. Today I brought it into work. We always play some multiplayer games. I'll let you know how Multiplayer worked out for us later.

Overall Score - 8/10 thus far.

Have questions, ask!

Gameplay: Control - The controls are very tight and responsive. You can fine tune your aiming with both horizontal and vertical controls. They are preset to 5 and the range goes from 1-10. I left mine at 5 for now. There is an autoaim feature which I don't like. Basically if you see two enemies a distance off, aim at the first and pluge him with 2 arrows killing him, the next area shoots off to the other enemy without me having to move my aiming crosshairs. With autoaim off, the game becomes much more challenging. I would have preferred an aim assist like in Halo, something inbetween auto-aim and auto-aim off basically. I'm playing the game through without auto-aim though since that adds a good challenge. The flying scenes were difficult for me at first simply because I was not familiar with the controls. I picked it up quickly and can now skim over the water and fly through canyons without trouble.

Graphics: Graphics - Turok does some things better then Halo, and some things much, much worse. I've only been on outdoor levels thus far, no inside fighting yet. The areas you can walk around in are very large, but you are roped in by a ring of dense plant matter. If you walk into the dense plant matter it doesn't scale well and you run into large 2-D textured plants. Not very impressive. That is the worst graphic glitch, but the rest of the games graphics more then make up for this inconvenience. The land is huge and expansive with no Fog trick needed to limit draw distance. The dinosaurs look fantastic and the ground is bump mapped nicely. My favorite part is the hordes of native creatures wandering over the lands. Birds, many type of monkeys, gazelles, frogs, butterflies, there is always a ton of action on screen. I was surprised at first that my club would become covered with blood after I smacked a few grunt soldiers and dinosaurs with it. Nice effect. The waterfalls, rainbow effect, and flying scenes are very nice. I'd rate this game an 8 for graphics.
Sound: Sound - The sound effects are really well done. The rushing waterfall, the shotgun pellets slapping against rock, the bullets ricocheting through the canyons. Even the voices of the enemy's is well done. (although I don't know how they learned to speak english...)

Suggestions: System Link!

Overall: I don't think this game should be compared to Halo, just because it is a first person shooter. This game is not anywhere near Halo. It has its moments, but I was expecting more from newer Xbox games. Worth the rental, but not the purchase.
Gameplay: The gameplay is average. While there is a nice variety of settings, it just didn't get me all that excited. Maybe Halo has set my expectations too high. The storyline is difficult to follow, especially if you are not familiar with the other Turok games. I found myself asking, "where am I going next, and why?" It just wasn't evident to me that the creators spent much time on crafting an experience. And the monkeys were a little too strong in my opinion. No way a gang of five monkeys should be able to tear you apart in a few seconds. Run away from them and shoot them from a distance. The whole flying chapters were very linear, and if you couldn't see your way into the next tunnel, you were forced to drive your bird into the wall, killing both of you immediately. The enemy AI was also fairly weak. While they would often run for cover, you could easily manoeveur yourself so that where they were hiding was no hiding spot at all. Lastly, I found on numerous occasions, that enemy pathfinding was problematic - many times I could take them out while they were running on the spot (stuck against an object).
Graphics: Most disappointing. Looks like a port! Graphics are very cartoonish, particularly in outdoor scenes. And the plant life is 2D! I thought we were beyond that. The animation of the characters and NPCs is good, especially some of the wildlife like dinosaurs and monkeys.
Sound: The sound effects were quite good, but the music was incredibly repetitive. As well, voice acting became annoying quickly, especially in the attack on the base, with the base commander over the PA system.

Overall: I am a big Turok fan...loved Turok, Turok 2, and even Rage Wars. I lost my excitement for Turok because of Turok 3. This game for me combines the best elements of Turok 1 & 2. Turok Rocks again!
Gameplay: This one has a ton of gameplay strong points. Good weapon selection with 15. Nice level design with a variety of environments. Decent enemy AI. The controls are well done but could use more options for customization. Aiming is responsive but it is hard to hit with a couple of weapons without auto-aim on.
Graphics: Overall very easy on the eyes. Some spectacular visuals like the animation for the Rocket Launcher, the ambient wildlife in the jungle, enemy reactions after being hit with a poison arrow. Some visuals though seemed like they needed more attention. 2D plants on the outer edges, flat textures in some places. A mixed bag visually.
Sound: Very nice sound...great theme music. I love the sound of the Tek Bow string when you shoot an arrow. Decent character voices. Walking sound effect is a little clunky.
Suggestions: Please, please, please consider adding three things to the next Xbox Turok...System Link, Bots for Multi-player, and two player Co-op mode.
