Overall: Nba Live 2002 is a step down from some of the other basketball titles this year, while nba 2k3 may offer more deep gameplay, nba 2002 is still a solid basketball game.
Gameplay: The game plays much faster than nba 2k3, but it is not as flawless.
the francise is laking, it only goes 10 years, which is kinda short compared to nba 2k3. there is a 1 on 1 challenge which lets you play any 2 players against each other, you can make fantasy matchups like, Allen Iverson vs Magic Johnson. you see much more dunking in this game than shooting, which kinda sucks, cause when you play the lakers, they go to shaq ever play and he dunks it, and at the end of the game its shaq with 70 points, and kobe with 4, which is really stupid.
Graphics: the visual is where the game stands out for 1 reason. because all the players on the court are wearing different shoes, which i think is very cool. the character models are a little cartoonish, but the player faces are the best of the 3 basketball games this year, nba 2k3, nba inside drive 2002, and nba live 2002. the annimation isnt very fluid at times, especialy on breakaways when you go for a dunk or layup.
Sound: the commentary gets repetitive, overall the sound is kinda weak, but you can either live with it or get a different game.

Overall: This is the single best basketball game on the market for XBox. I've played NBA2K and Inside Drive and both games are no where near as good all around as Live. That's NOT to say that this game is for everyone however, as "Arcade Style" junkies will find Inside Drive and 2K much more entertaining.
Gameplay: The Gameplay is the single best aspect of NBA Live 2002. Right down to Post play, running Pick and Rolls, Isolations, and spreading it out for the three, it's as 'realistic' as they come. I've had the most fun using Boston run and gun style, driving up court, going to the hoop to draw the double and kicking it out to the open man, or swinging it around the court to the open man in the corner. Never have I seen that as realistically portrayed as in this game.
I've been playing this game since the day it came out (had it preordered) and I've not been able to put it down except for the other occasional title that crossed my hands.
Graphics: Visually it lacks an aweful lot. I mean the players appear more life like than in any other NBA Live title to date, but their are flaws. The players upperbodies are entirely too stiff, many players features are too similar with the exception of their face, and you'd think by now they'd realize they should differ the body sizes and jumping abilities more. I've blocked Shaq hooks and Kobe layups with the likes of Joe Forte and Paul Pierce!
Sound: Listening to this game is so nausiating that I have to listen to my Panasonic Discman during the games. The commentary is repetative, uninformative, and droll. If they want me to fall asleep any more by simply listening to that garbage, they could just put soundbytes from the late Bob Ross!
Suggestions: My comments are simple, short and sweet.

Tweak the player motions to bring their upperbodies to the motion levels that their lower bodies seem.

FIX THE DAMNED COMMENTARY AND CROWD!!

Allow future draft picks to be traded, change the 'point' system on the cap to monetairy, and make it like real life...where good players don't want to play on crap teams unless they get a boat load of cash!
You should have to win to make people want to play for you.

Along those lines, add in fluctuating crowds depending on how good your team does and the market its in.

Overall: Basketball!!!! I always buy the sports games when I purchase a new gaming platform (XBOX). Since I hadn't purchased a new system since the original Playstation, I bought this expecting EA to put out a great game. I was kind of disapointed. I loved the original when it came out on sega genesis NBA Live 95. The problem i have with this game is that it is completely geared towards offense. Don't get me wrong I love offense and scoring but when you play against other people it turns into a dunkfest. For a game to be fun it has to be fun on both sides of the ball. This is where we come to the problem with Live 2002. It is impossible to stop the inside scoring on defense. I pumped up offensive fouls to the max took defensive fouls down to 1 and still it barely slows down the offense. It is almost impossible to block a shot in the paint as soon as that person hits shoot "count it". I even took off 3 in the key, and 3 second violations just so i could plant a Big defender shot blocker down low. This still had no effect. I used Quarter Court defense and that did'nt work. Offensive plays are a waste even in superstar mode you can score at will. The defensive side of the game is boring and frustrating with the only thing working well is the steal button. I have not played any of the other bball games for xbox but I suspect the better bball games will come out in the years to come.
Gameplay: The gameplay is allright at first until you get on it for about 4 hours. then you realized they screwed up on the defense side of the ball. At first you think the dunks are so cool but then it becomes monotonous. Because it does not take any skill, or little skill to play the game.
Graphics: The game looks good compared to the original playstation version I played five years ago. The players look like the players. When you slam, the backboard bounces which is cool. I am not a big graphics guy though. Don't get me wrong when I see great graphics I flip but the game has to be fun to play against other people or I wont like it. I mean the best game you will ever have will not be against a computer that does'nt know or care he got beat, but against someone of your same skill level that you could rub your win in their face. AI will never produce that type of fun and intelligence.
Sound: The sounds are allright. I ususally turn off the announcers because they get repetitive. I usually turn off all the lame music too. Because after 4 hours that stuff gets on my nerves. By the way I think adding soundtracks to games is cool, but turning on my stereo and picking out a CD that I like and putting it on is not a big inconvenience. I am usually to into games to notice sound affects that much. Oh ya this game is not optional soundtrack compatible.
Suggestions: I think as long as they use a port to make XBOX basketball games they will never make the Quintesential basketball game to rent or own. I don't know how many times I heard this, but you have to take advantage of all the extras and power on the XBOX.But I will give a few suggestions. Pump up the defense!!!!!!! Put in ZONE DEFENSE SELECTION!!!!! Make Defensive and offensive play selections work!!!! I doubt even if you do this you will be able to compete with what microsoft will eventually come out with exclusively for the xbox in the years to come.

Overall: NBA Live 2002 is actually better than what people think! Well I liked it and I think the graphics aren't bad, you got to like basketball to play this!
Gameplay: It is pretty sweeet! Slam Dunkage is the funest part, or just shoot the threes or what ever you feel like doing you go ahead and do.
Graphics: Pretty good, Could be better I guess, but I think its not bad! Graphics isn't always everything in a game, (well depends), to have fun!
Sound: Great! Like the sound, not bad.

Overall: Soild basketball game. Good for people who like realism and basketball.
Gameplay: Gameplay is okay nothing differnt then any other basketball game that i've played
Graphics: EA Sports I suggest using some time on your video games. There okay in the graphics department, but EA you have to stop just porting games and make an XBOX quality game.It would make the game so much better
Sound: Normal
Suggestions: STOP PORTING GAMES!!!!!!!!!

Overall: Intially, I puchased this game because I had previuosly owned NBA Live 2001 for my P.C. Although this game may not be the best basketball simulator for the x-box it definatly beats any P.C. or previous basketball game made for other systems. When I first started playing I was kinda disappointed because there was no "real life" video, instead just video game graphics, which isn't to say bad. The game itself was quite amusing with the side animations and other videos. Moreover, the season options make it fun to endure all 82 games.
Gameplay: Two initial problems with the gameplay. First, the the computer A.I. truely needs to be modified. It tends to be quite predicable and lacks the skills of a true basketball player. For example, the computer has no concept of a fast break. The other problem is that of options. I was kinda disappointed when I found out that there was no draft option and that there only was a quick play, 1 on 1, and season setup. With the extensive size of X-box games I was hoping there woul be some type of 3 point challenge or other fun scenerios as well as normal play.
Graphics: This is one of the better qualities of this game. I think that the players look quite realistic compared to their real life tributes. It was helpful when I was able to tell each player indiviually when deciding to pass the ball. The
Sound: The game sounds are kinda limited, but those that are programed such as music and sound effects of dunking the ball and dribbling the sound proves well done. I think it would be cool if it enabled the Xbox's "copy your own soundtrack" feature, similar to Gothic Racing.
Suggestions: Add more gameplay options, and modify the A.I.

Overall: Overall N.B.A.LIVE is a decent game it is not a basketball sim but if your new to sport video games this is a good place to start.
Gameplay: Im new to the sports section of video games but I rented it anyway and was able to play with very little problem.if your into basketall games you might want to wait for 2k2 but if your a newcomer this is a good place to start
Graphics: the graphics are not bad,but not up to xbox standards. they should have taken more time to give this title a little more polish
Sound: there is not much to say about the sound. the announcers were repetative.the one on one game would have been helped by being able to use my own soundtrack
Suggestions: take more time

Overall: Purchased this game because of the title. This game has the worst AI I have ever seen. What a disappointment. Luckily I got my money back.
Gameplay: The AI is non existent. When playing against the CPU, you can just stand under the opposing basket and force a pass to your player and score. 'nuff said.
Graphics: Just a ported PS2 game. It's not that the graphics are bad, it's just that EA Sports rushed this game out to make some quick cash at Christmas.
Sound: Average. Not much I can say about the sound effects of the game. Nothing special about this game in any catagory.
Suggestions: If you keep putting out games that are such low quality, you are going to lose fans. There is a lot of competition out there for Xbox games.

Overall: The "NBA Live" name brought me to purchase this title. WOW what a mistake... you will find out why in my further explanation
Gameplay: This is where the game totally fails, everytime down the floor, you can take any player and score, in one game patrik ewing had 50 points, in 1 HALF!! everytime me and a friend plays we trade baskets, and whoever has the last possession wins everytime, and the computer's defense is absolutly horrible, when playing against the computer, the score is always lopsided even on the highest difficulty level.
Graphics: The players look like themselves for the most part, the crowd looks decent, expecially the first coupel of rows, as they stand up and react to the play on the court, the benches also react to the play which is nice, but these small details cannot save this title
Sound: The sound is decent, nothing wrong here, but nothing too great, i like the sound of the shoes squeaking on the floor
Suggestions: I'm trading this in at gamestop for NBA 2k2, WORK ON COMPUTER DEFENSE!! period, the rest of the game would be 100% better

Overall: So far so good. This is the first basketball game I have ever owned. I have played others on PS2 and the PC but never cared for the execution or how the controls worked. Both of my kids like the game and I find them playing it together on many occasions.

Don't overlook those Pepsi/Dew caps. I saved $10 off the price of this game by keeping those caps, plus I didn't have to pay for shipping. If you combine coupons and buy more than one game at a time you can save even more. Hurry that special ends 1/31.
Gameplay: The gameplay has been good so far. It was easy enough for the entire family to learn in a few minutes. However you must learn how to do the more advanced functions in order to be competitive at the higher levels. So for us parents we could be respectable without much practice while the kids are doing spin moves and fancy dunks. My only concern is that with a couple of months under our belts will the game continue to be the challenge it is today for us? Check back in a while for an update.
Graphics: The family is a bunch of Sixers fans. Interesting to see AI with all his tatoos plus facial features that look semi-real. The instant replays were annoying for a while but I have gotten used to them and kind of like them now. As with any game on PS2 or Xbox the visuals are decent. One recommendation is to consider the video connection upgrade if you TV can handle it. My friend has it going through the component inputs and the difference is enough to warrant the extra $20 if that stuff matters to you (it does for me).
Sound: The crowd reacts as it should - cheering and booing at the right times. The announcing is a little weak. The color commentator could be dramatically improved. Other than those comments - nothing special noted but then this isn't the type of game where outstanding sound effects would make a huge difference to me.
Suggestions: Crank up the video programming a bit more. That will set this game apart from the PS2 version. Team and individual defense logic could be improved to improve the lasting appeal.

Overall: Good game but just not good enough. Come on with the power of the Xbox they could have did better with the graphics and gameplay. The graphics do run smooth. I do like the multiplayer also.
Gameplay: The multiplayer is great. I also like the franchise and create a player but i wish they had a create a team(oh well) in the short time i had this game it was moderately enjoyable.
Graphics: The graphics weren't all that i'd hoped for. Like i said, with the power of the Xbox they could have did better. They did run smoothly though. I guess all and all it was ok but didn't live up to my expectations.
Sound: good music, the cheering crowd got a little repetative but still good. I guess the sound appeal to me was pretty good.
Suggestions: Work on the graphics, Get Creat A Team. I'm not really sure what it needs right now but there's just one big thing that it's missing.

Overall: This game looks very nice. Probably the best graphicaly looking basketball game out there. They added a lot new crazy dunks to keep you in the game. The replays are also very nice to look at. The have a lot of new things added to it that impressed me a lot.
Gameplay: The gameplay is very nice! They have lots of modes that you can play. There is a practice mode for people playing it first. There is also season mode, 1 on 1 mode and Franchise mode which is EXCELLENT! Create a dynasty over 10 Years, that is the ebst gameplay in the game.
Graphics: The visuals are outstanding. The crowd looks great and so do the players. The players look a lot smoother and realistic. You can actually see ALL the tatoos on a player and see thier actuall shoes for example Kobe Bryant, you can see the actuall Kobe shoes that are sold everywhere where he plays. The cinematic scenes are also very nice like before the game, during time outs etc.
Sound: The sound has also been improved. The announcers are alright, but not excellent. The crowd has some of the best sound. They cheer when a great play comes and boo when the other team scores.
Suggestions: The graphics are very nice. Maybe the players should have had better AI (Artificial Intelligence) like when they are angry, they would dunk and hang on the rim and get Technicals. There should also be flagrent fouls and players should be able to yell at refs and get Technicals, so should the coaches. Also they should have added Zone defense to the game.

Overall: I cant belive what the two people ahead of me have said about this game. The players do not move like robots, joe the show is not the announcer, and put it in a different difficulty mode!!
Gameplay: The gameplay is good. You can do lots of moves with the ball. You have a lot of options on offence and defence
Graphics: The graphics are good. They have the players correct shoes and you can tell who the players are.
Sound: The sound is good too. There is nothing thats bad about this game. You two people who rated before me are crazy. Stupid retard its not joe the show!! What a dumbass!
Suggestions: Good job. No real suggestions only NBA Inside Drive looks a lil bit better as far as graphics. GOOD GAME THO!
