Knockout Kings 2002
Overall: Graphics are excellent. There are no "jaggies". The boxers look and move as in real life. The sound effects are surprisingly good and the commentary flows well. The punches are quick and responsive. This one's a knockout.
GET THIS! When your boxer gets tired, you can feel the heartbeart in your controller. The more tired you are the faster the beat. Blows me away every time.
Gameplay: The CAF should be deeper in terms of number of faces you can choose as you can not create a face. When you can fight as Mohammed Ali, Lennox Lewis, Evender Hollyfield or De La Hoya I find that the CAF in this title does not take away from the game. As I mentioned the controls are good the punches are fast and furious. Movement of the boxers can not get more lifelike. The A.I. is very good. The "make believe" fighters are really well done with realistic sounding names, looks and fighting styles. This is well done.
Graphics: When your boxer or your opponent gets hit there is bruising, swelling and the occasional spray of blood. Even the mouthpieces fly out. The boxers even show sweat. Anyone that says this even remotely looks like the PS2 version is dead wrong. Graphically 100%. BTW the ring announcers mouths move along with the words spoken.
Audio: Well the sound and the graphics are a perfect match. The sound effects are really quite good and I find the the game commentary flows and realistically portrays what is happening in the ring.
Suggestions: Deeper CAF where gamers can actually create a face. And EA: Next year's version...KEEP THE GOOD STUFF IN THE GAME!!!!!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 WWF Raw
Overall: Wow. This title shows what can be done using the power of the Xbox. The graphics and sound are perfect. There are times, many of them, when I feel like this is WWF on the dish and not a game. Not enough credit has been given to WWF Raw. It would be hard to add more action and excitement to this game and just to think I almost bought UFC Tapout instead of Raw.
Gameplay: I am not a huge wresting fan but this game is alot of fun. When I start playing the next thing I know three hours have passed easily. I created myself riding in on a motorcycle and even my wife says the character looks like me ( minus the 250lbs of muscle). With the way this game looks, sounds and feels I will be playing it for a long time.
Graphics: The wrestlers look amazing. They act and move just like on TV although the way they walk in could be improved. When you hit another wrestler with a chair the chair dents! You can add hidden items to your created wrestler. A perfect 10 visually.
Audio: I will give this game 4.0 out of 5 simply because you can't rip your own music to the game. Other than that this game sounds as good as it looks.
Suggestions: This game is awesome. Totally captures the excitement of wrestling. The only way to make a better game is have fighting in the crowd and in backstage areas as promised. Add a save feature when going for the belts. A great first time effort by THQ.
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 NBA Inside Drive 2002
Overall: The graphics and sound is excellent. The game plays fluidly. You can adjuct the frequency of the replays and cut scenes. Both the offensive and defensive AI is spectacular. I could do without franchise mode but MS should have added a create a player feature
Gameplay: Because the AI is so good this game is fun to play. Many of the games I played were decided on a last second shot. I can't say enough about how good the AI of this game is.
Graphics: I don't like to buy ported Xbox games if I can help it. This game was make to take advantage of the Xbox and the visuals are very good.
Audio: Some have critized the sound but after playing other sports games, I find the play by play and sound effects really add another dimension to the game.
Suggestions: Two suggestions for next year. Add create a player and franchise mode.
Overall Score: 7.0 / 10 NFL Fever 2002
Overall: Looks great. Plays great. The players look spectacular. I'm playing on "Veteran" level now and I can see a differance in the AI which has improved. Each player's rating on every team increases or decreases depending on that players performance. MOVE OVER MADDEN!!!
Gameplay: I have increased the difficulty level to "veteran" and the AI is smarter than before. I can't picture myself getting bored with this game anytime soon. I think this game has excellent replay value. 5 minutes quarters in franchise mode keep the stats real. I don't mind it.
Graphics: 10 out of 10. Plain and simple. This game was made for the Xbox so it takes advantage of the Xbox capabilities. See reflections on the helmets. Players uniforms get wet or muddy. See footprints in the snow. Blow out the opposition and there are actually less fans in the stadium. fans in the upper decks wave. Great attention to detail.
Audio: The sound is good but not spectacular. Luckily this game is so visually stunning it doesn't need amazing play by play to carry it. Nevertheless the sound could be better.
Suggestions: Microsoft what a great game for your first attempt. Improve the sound and the physique of some of the players for 2003.
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 NBA Live 2002
Overall: Purchased this game because of the title. This game has the worst AI I have ever seen. What a disappointment. Luckily I got my money back.
Gameplay: The AI is non existent. When playing against the CPU, you can just stand under the opposing basket and force a pass to your player and score. 'nuff said.
Graphics: Just a ported PS2 game. It's not that the graphics are bad, it's just that EA Sports rushed this game out to make some quick cash at Christmas.
Audio: Average. Not much I can say about the sound effects of the game. Nothing special about this game in any catagory.
Suggestions: If you keep putting out games that are such low quality, you are going to lose fans. There is a lot of competition out there for Xbox games.
