NBA 2K2
Overall: This game is great for any diehard basketball fan, or for any sports fan! The graphics were the only dissapointing part of the game for me. The gameplay was the best gameplay I've seen in a basketball game! There are plays you can call, you can crossover, block, steal, and intentional foul. I played this game for 1-2 hours a night, and I never got bored. I recommmed buying this game, but if you don't think you'll like it you should rent it first... I would buy it but I'm broke!
Gameplay: The gameplay is AWESOME! What else can I say... you can do anything. Crossover, spin move, pump fake, post moves, block, and steal. After a little less than an hour you get used to all the controls. I like how they have the free throws set up... you miss the first couple of times, and then once you get used to it you start making more and more. There are so many different mods you can play... street (my favorite part of the game... I recommend starting with this, it will build your skill in managing 2 to 3 players before moving to the conventional 5). Defense is fun too, the stealing is well done. It is hard to steal just out of nowhere, but if you wait for them to pass it to a man downlow, and you go to double team while he's making his move you can steal it a majority of the times. You have playoffs... which is pretty fun, pracitce mode, which I didn't use that much, but you can use that to learn the plays and stuff. You have season mode, and a couple others that I never got to. Overall, the gameplay is what makes it the best basketball game (in my opinion) ever!
Graphics: The graphics are the only thing that really dissapointed me. The players don't look to good. They are pretty blocky, and the visuals just don't live up to what the xbox can handle. Guys are waking threw guys, and the crowd is horendice. I wish they did the crowd like in NHL Hitz where they are 3 dimensional. The heads are too small for the body... especially on the coach. But this part of the game only takes away from the overall game a little bit because it just has such good gameplay! The visuals are the only thing I would really have taken more time to improve on. But don't not buy the game just because of that.
Audio: I didn't really listen to the sound because I was too enthrawed with the gameplay... but of what I can thin the sound wasn't too bad, but not too good. The players would yell switch and ball, which would help me out on defense. The hometeam would cheer when you dunk, or make a 3-pointer. The commentating was alright but a little repetitive, but what do you expect from a sports game on commentating? You can go to the menu, and switch around what was loud and what wasn't. Overall it was alright, but nothing to brag about
Suggestions: Spruce up the visuals... and make another one!
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Blood Wake
Overall: This game has really good graphics the water physics are great. The controls are pretty easy to pick up. The multiplayer is pretty fun... but the thing that I don't like about the game is how hard it is. This game is way too hard even on the easiest difficulty
Gameplay: The controls are easy to pick up. They have a good amount of boats, and it is good how the farther you get in the game the more boats, and battlemodes you get. But it is just way too hard. It like starts getting hard on like level 3.
Graphics: The game has great physics, and awesome water graphics. The boats look nice. This game has probably the best water effects I have ever seen.
Audio: I never really payed attention to the sound. Maybe that's because there wasn't very much. The chinese voices were pretty nice, but what they said was cheesy... like when you died sometimes they say things like "you're fish bait", oh please.
Overall Score: 8.0 / 10 NHL Hitz 2002
Overall: This game is great. There was nothing to complain about graphics wise. The gameplay was easy to pick up, and the sound was pretty good. I wish I would have bought this game instead of DOA3... If anyone wants to trade... The gameplay is the heart of the game. The sound and visuals aren't close to as good as the gameplay. I suggest at least renting it, and then buying it.
Gameplay: The controls feel really comfortable. You can pick it up really easy. It gets fun once you learn how to shoot and pass. The season mode is really fun, and all the different stadiums keep you involved in the game for a very long time. The only bad thing, is that the game can get boring after awhile, but if you don't play it for a week or two (I just rented it, but I can just tell), then you'll just love it again. It is so fun to just deck a guy when you get in a fight.
Graphics: Nothing really to complain about, but there is also nothing really too great to brag about. It is pretty good though. Every once and awhile when they are introducing the players... the players fall down or do something funny.
Audio: The sound really isn't that great, but not too bad. Again there is nothing to brag about But there is nothing real bad about it.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 NFL Fever 2002
Overall: This game appeals mostly to NFL football lovers, but anybody would love it. The game has a large amount of plays, and the suggested plays section is really great. The passing game on many games have been the only thing you can use effectively, but on this game you can get 5, 6, 10 yard games on a run... if you find the hole. The sound was just thrown together, and the graphics are at some times amazing. The collision detection would need work though. Try NFL 2K2 and Madden also... some people like Madden better, but most like Fever, and I think 2K2 is supposed to be the best... but I don't know
Gameplay: The running game has never been done like it was done on Fever. As I said in all the other games you are restricted to only passing if you want to gain yards. On this game, you can run or pass. The passing isn't impossible, but you have to be wise on who you through to. Big hits usually knock the ball loose. One of the only complaints is a lot of times the reciever plays the ball wrong on a screen, and it hits them in the back of the head. I like that you can drag players a little sometimes until another player comes in and tackles him. The gameplay is great, and the different difficulty levels keep you into the game even if you've mastered the other ones. The season mode is great... how players can get injured and retire. You can have a team for up to 25 seasons, which is a loooooong time. You can draft, and trade. The season mode is great. I like how you can create a player. The fantasy challenge is cool... how if you beat a team you can use them... and same with the practice mode, I like how if you get past each course you get another team. I haven't really done general manager... but that doesnt seem too fun to me anyways. The collision detection is shoddy, and only one man can tackle the runner, the other person just falls through them. I like the swim move options if you are blitzing, and the spin. The kicking is good.
Graphics: The visuals are pretty good. The players look pretty nice, and the grass is good. There are no refs on the field unless you get a line measurement or a penalty. The replays are nice except that a lot of times you tackle a guy, and end up in a rather wrong position... if you own the game you should know what I mean, or watch your replay after tackling a few times, and you should see what i mean (if your old enough). They used Peyton Manning(
Audio: Uuuuggggghhhhh... They just threw this part of the game together. It seems like they said "Controls?" "Check" "Visuals?" "Check", "Sound?" "OHHH CRAPPP!" They just left this off to the very end and you can tell it. the announcers suck, but the actual hitting isn't bad... The comentators rarely say anything new, and usually say the wrong thing or fall way behind and say what is happening in the previous play... after every kick off they say the same thing "The Special teams coach has gotta be going nuts... that guy should have taken a knee in the endzone" or "Alright D!ck (it's more fun to say it that way, even if it's not in a bad way), the return man won that round, his team will have good field position at the start of this drive". It is good that they rather of forgot the sound than gameplay or graphics... The sound isn't good... but don't get the game just for that. I give it a 3 because the comentating is worth a 2, and the in game hits are worth a 4... average that out for a 3.
Suggestions: Sound needs a lot of work... but this was your first try... pretty good for a first attempt... Make an NFL Fever '03!
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
Overall: This game has solid graphics, pretty good gameplay, and amazing sound! Once you pick it up you cannot stop for a looooong time. I would definately recommend borrowing it from a friend till you beat it, and giving it back, or renting it and beating it. It would be a 5 if you had multiplayer. Once you beat this game you are done with it. I wouldn't buy it unless you are a diehard Oddworld fan. Definately play it though
Gameplay: The gameplay is great. You can even FART! The more you play the better it feels (the controls that is, lol). It sucks you in, and doesnt let you out until you've beaten it. Some people like to beat it, and see all 4 endings. I think there are 4 endings... I read it somewhere, if you beat it a certain way and your Quarma is good you get a certain ending, you get a different ending if you beat it that way and your quarma is bad. And if you beat it the other way with good or bad quarma you get two other diffent endings (confusing? Yes, but I understand what I'm saying). Once you solve a little puzzle thingy, you are so proud of yourself... or at least I was... I have never been real good at puzzle games like Banjo-Kazooie or really liked them. But I loved to play this game, and was more perceptive at solving the puzzles... maybe that's because I haven't played a puzzle game for 2 years and now I am a lot better. The story is great and keeps you involved. The newspapers that come out are cool, and it is fun posess the bad guys and blow 'em up. The gameplay would also be a 5, but the lack of multiplay makes it a 4. Because the appeal doesn't last if you can't play multiplayer
Graphics: Visually stunning at some points. This game really is amazing if you take the time to look at it... but most of the time you are running around and can't stop to do anything like it. The videos are just great. This game is one of the most underated visual games on the xbox. It is no DOA3 though... but it is still a much better game. I think that the visuals are great, but you shouldn't just buy this game for the graphics, but they are outstanding.
Audio: The sound is one of the best parts of the game. To listen to the bad guys just chat at a distance will make you laugh. There are so many different sounds in the game that are so funny, and so well done that you cannot give this part of the game less than a 5. Every character in the game has so much personality that this part of the game is so appealing. You can fart! You can burp! What else do you need to think that the sound is great?
Suggestions: Oddworld Inhabitant's are doing a great job... but I think you guys need to make your games with more lasting appeal. Once you beat it you are done.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding
Overall: This game has really good graphics; pretty good gameplay, and sound. I would recomend trying it against the other snowboarding titles such as Transworld Snowboarding (which is primarily a racing game, don't know when it came out), and SSX Tricky (rehash of SSX which came out to PS2, has more of an arcady feel.) BTW-This game is completely freestyle, there is no racing at ALL in the game. Overall, I believe it is a good buy, but not a must buy, and you should probably rent it first.
Gameplay: The gameplay takes about a half and hour to an hour to pick up. It is nice how it tells you some choices of what to do at the bottom. The jibbing is cool... I like how you balance with the L and R buttons. The career mode is fun, and challenging. You really have to know where to distribute his attributs, and it is very tough to please some of the sponsors. I like how you have to please the sponsors; how they like certain tricks a lot more than others. There really is a lot of strategy at how you attack the game. The multiplayer lacks the split screen... which wouldn't really help because there is no racing. It is merely freestyle. It is good for the developer to stick to one way of the game... but I wish there was some kind of racing. The Snowman challenge and the Pro challenge is pretty good. You get pretty much forever replay value. You must learn to use the right analog stick, which can be quite challenging to certain people. Overall I mostly like the gameplay, but not good enough for a 5.
Graphics: This game has a lot of visual appeal. I like how the farther in the game you are, and the more sponsors you please, the more clothes you get. You can pick from tons of different clothes when you get farther, and you always look cool. I heard there are like over a hundred different snow textures (don't quote me on that), but the visuals are really nice. The only thing that would be bad would probably be the shoddy collision detection (which seems to be a problem with many games). If you are going for visuals... I think that this game probably has the best visuals of any snowboarding game to date.
Audio: Amped has the largest song selection of any game EVER! Which can be a good thing, but most of the songs aren't that good. The best part of the sound is track burning support. The snowmen talk ALOT! And when you pull a good trick the media compliments you... but if you mess up or pull a crappy trick... You don't want to know what they say... Overall the sound is worth a solid 4.5, which could probably be a 5.0 if you liked most of the songs.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Halo: Combat Evolved
Overall: This game is the most appealing game I have ever played. The Bungie crew really did something right here. This is the best FPS game to date. I think that this game would be worth just buying the XBox for if it had more levels
Gameplay: Great trigger effect, it feels like you are really shooting. It is kinda hard at the beginning to learn how to move, and aim at the same time, but almost all games I've played have that same thing. The buttons seem in a natural place too. Today I invited my friends over, and we played multiplayer, it was awesome!Overall the gameplay is great!
Graphics: Not quite Dead or Alive level, but it's a lot better than Halo on computer, and great visual appeal. It is the second best visually to Dead or Alive, which not many games can live up to. It also was great!
Audio: The sound is the best part. It really sets the mood of the game. When the music picks up you know you are doing the right thing, and it gets you so emmensed in the game that my hands shake as a turn a corner afraid that one of the covenant aliens is waiting for me. The sound really makes you a part of Halo. If I could I would give it a 6
Suggestions: MAKE IT LONGER! Maybe have a deathmatch mode on multiplayer (my friends and I couldn't find it, maybe we are just dorks!)
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Dead or Alive 3
Overall: It is a beautiful thing to look at. The story is alright, the fighting is great, sound is alright. Overall, I think the game was worth buying, but i wouldn't spend much more than $50
Gameplay: I don't know all the moves yet, and their hard to learn, but you can learn how to punch kick. It took me awhile to learn how to walk around, and stuff though (maybe I'm just a retard.) But, I haven't played it that much, and I'm not the kind of person who justs loves those fighting games
Graphics: Eye-candy, Eye-candy, Eye-candy... There really isn't anything else to say about it, other than it has the best still photos, fluid motion, and hot women, I've seen since... shall I say, a DVD player, and the XBox even has that!
Audio: The sound is the worst part of the game. The people talk in japanese. The fighting sounds are so ordinary, and the people talk like they are stupid. They call themselves the 'Mac-daddy' and things of that nature. The sound was dissapointing to me, especially after playing Halo.
Suggestions: The sound needs some help. The storyline is iffy, and a practice zone would help (I hope they already don't have that and I'm making a dork of myself saying they should have it)
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10
