Overall: Max Payne is a dark but fun 3rd Person Shooter. With the new Bullet Time feature to help kill bad guys. Max Payne has a dark storyline where you seak revenge for the death of your wife & child. Anyone who likes shooters should get this game.
Gameplay: it plays like usual 3rd Person Shooters, but with bullet time to slow down time to make it easier to kill the villians. If you dont use bulet time you will find yourself dead before the end of the level, probably before the middle of the level.
Graphics: the graphics are iffy. the arms look wierd & Max Payne always looks like he had bad tacos for dinner.
Sound: the voice acting is pretty good & the guns sounds good.
Suggestions: better graphics, & better character models for Max. other than that i found this a great game. thats why the overall get a better score than most anything else.

Overall: A very good graphic novel based game that has a classic film noir feel. The plot is always twisting and you never quite know what Max will do or where he will end up. The new cliche of video games, bullet time, was also made big by this title
Gameplay: The controls do well to simplify things in this often twitch induced gameplay. The guns are very fitting in this dark under belly of the city and the crime and killing makes this truly a dark tragedy of a game.
Graphics: The clean graphics featuring blood, bullets, shrapnel and explosions make up this dark crime story of revenge suitably and the cut scene plot strips are eriely mood setting.
Sound: The little things, radios, TVs, richochettes to the big things bombs, cars, voices, even the bullet time and shot dodge sounds give it that push in sound.
Suggestions: I hear quite a buzz about the sequal and it seems that what was already great gets to be even better...

Overall: this game was alright, i really enjoyed the storyline. it really draws u into the game and gets u hooked. however, the game was too short for me and this is worth the rent. but since this game is in platinum hits for 20$, then its worth the buy.
Gameplay: you play as max payne who's wife was murdered by someone. he goes on to find the people that did it. this game is all about revenge and u can feel how max payne feels and it makes u want to get the ppl that ruined his life bad. the bullet mode is a fun feauture in this game. it slows down the gameplay and u can dodge bullets like in the matrix. but overall, the gameplay was fun but not enough to make me want to play it again
Graphics: the graphics are below avg, kinda boxy looking, but its the gameplay that draws that game to you.
Sound: the sound is pretty decent, but i think it could be better in most parts of the game. i wasnt too impressed with the gunshot sound.

Overall: From the PC game itself to the X-Box consoles. Max Payne has came all the way to X-Box carrying along the excitement and fun in every minute you play. Ever wonder if you can play a shooter game Matrix-style? Well this is what you've been looking for. Max Payne is something for you whether you wanna enjoy a good shooting game or maybe relieve you from too much stress well this is what you need. Are you curious about the game? Why not read further to find out more about it.
Gameplay: Gameplay is just about everything. In Max Payne, forget about dodging quick bullets or maybe bar brawls and enjoy a good shoot-out Matrix style. You don't need to bother much about controls once you've mastered moving like the Matrix and shooting like one then you won't find any problems with the control. What you need to do is to master when to use the slow-mo and when to use the regular game speed. The Camera's perfect, it won't bother you at all even a little. Smooth controls, Very Smooth, the sleek controls works well with the veriety of movement and weapons you can use to pummel your enemy up. Whether you do a bar brawl style of fighting using a baseball bat or be like the Matrix dodgin bullets in mid-air while shooting back twice at your enemy with great precision and accuracy. This slow-motion command is what makes this game perfect. The movement alone and the slow-motion as well are enough to make this game as great as what it is now. Also, you have the full use of your environment meaning you can hit glass windows, shoot fire extinguishers, open up showers and stuffs. The game is quite challenging at first but after learning the basics you'll be a super one man fighting army in no time. Blasting into a group of thugs with your handy dandy shotgun or blast them away with your trusty grenades. You'll place this till somebody stop you from playing it. Pretty addicting indeed. One word can only explain all of these... perfect.
Graphics: The graphics are very very good. The environment, the way the characters are modeled, the guns, the bullets, gunfires, explosions, everything looks fabulously superb. You are given almost full use of your environment which most interacts with what you do. It simply means that you can a shower open, break glass windows (Hehehe... some shooting game can't even break a glass window even if you use the almighty rocekt launcher on them!) smash vases, etc... For being a 3D character Max Payne himself looks pretty good and I can't even find even a little flaw in it. The gunshots and the blood that burst out from enemies or your environment is pretty good. Like the way you shoot somebody in the game ''Half-Life: Counter-Strike'' blood burst out from thugs you shoot who's near the wall or when you buy them a gift of grenade. There's a place where you can even shoot a television hehehe... pretty cool eh? The environment itself is pretty good it reacts well to the movement you do. The scenes in the story are well drawn but the 3D in it are great the voice over everything!
Sound: A good competitor against Halo's musical score. Like the game Halo, Max Payne has a little music in the background or maybe I don't pay much attention because of its superb gameplay and graphics? May Payne don't actually lacks in music since you won't be paying much attention to it as well. Max Payne has some cool sounds as well. The voice over is perfectly done. The gunfire and the explosion are great. If you listen carefully you'll notice some more great sound effects like some footsteps when you or a thug is moving, screams, voices, the grenade bouncing of the wall or on the floors, the explosions even the grunts when being hit are nice.

Suggestions: A must buy for those who enjoy a great Action/Adventure game specially when you can shoot/fight back at enemies Matrix style. A great stress reliever and can eat a lot of time if you simply don't have anything to do.

Overall: I bought this game off an on-line auction last summer for $20.00. I played it off and on for a number of months and finally completed it this month. As a veteran gamer from back in the Pac Man era, I can honestly state this is a great game. Sure, it may have flaws here and there but the game play is solid and involving. The story is reminiscent of the gritty crime novels I have found littered about various waiting rooms I have visited. The character is the epitome of the 1970?s movie era rogue cop and the villains remind me of stereotypical mob characters, crooked police officers and corrupt governmental officials with a dash of the occult thrown in. Talk about having your hands full, Mad Max Payne certainly had his work/justice cut out for him. Some have argued this game is too short. Maybe it was because I played the game over a seven-month period but it really seamed long to me. From sewers to nightclubs, crack-houses to mansions, shipyards to high-rises; Max was all over the city during a seemingly endless snowy night
Gameplay: I can?t write anything that has not been already discussed in this department. I have not played the PC version of this game but I really believe the XBOX controller works well here. I never had any problem with the third person point of view or while selecting weapons. I liked the feature enabling me to Quick Save at any time; this really came in handy during the bizarre dream sequences. This leads me to one of my few complaints. While innovative and somewhat disturbing, I found little enjoyment in running in circles threw the maze and walking the blood line with the baby crying was enough to give me my own nightmares. Although I did not utilize it often, another great innovation was the bullet time feature. The only time a really relied on this ability was during the Baseball Bat episode. I must have played that scene a couple dozen times before I discovered the painkillers in the furnace room locker. I liked the weapons for the most part. I could have done with out some such as the Desert Eagle and sawed off shotgun but the dual pistols regular shotgun and assault rifle were really enjoyable. I also like the fact I could interact with items Max would come across, such as TV?s and soda machines. Overall I believe the game play was great and really made the game a stand out.
Graphics: The graphics are a mixed bag. Max himself is finely detailed from his leather jacket to his smug expressions. I was not really bothered by the lack of detail in the villains; they were not around long enough for me to really notice. The city surroundings were adequate snow/fire/water were as expected. The cut scenes worked well enough (remember, I grew up playing Asteroids and Atari, it doesn?t take much to impress me) The comic strip like drawings with captions was interesting if not different. As much as I hate to admit it, the scenes that stand out the most to me are the dream sequences. The twisting tunnel view while running threw the maze and snow-like blood floating in the red line room of horror were great visuals. XBOX game or not, the graphics did not necessarily have to too polished because the game theme itself is dark and gritty.

Sound: Sound can really make the difference in your perception of the visuals. This game was full of distinctive audio clips that made the game all the more interesting and intensive. The voice acting of Max Payne while criticized by some was very believable, to me, and what I expected. I like hearing his jaded sarcasm cut threw the typical dialog of the villains. The guns have their own distinctive firing nuances and the floor on which Max walks creates different sounds depending on weather it is snow, tile or metal grates. The theme music will not win any Grammies but fits the story and assists in developing the ambient texture. The junkies muttering in the crack house; the wise guy lingo, and the satanic ramblings of the mob under boss are great but its that eerie baby crying that will haunt you.
Suggestions: Work on the graphics and delete those bazaar dream sequences!

Overall: It has everything graphics, weapons, storyline, only thing it lacks is good sound. It often kept changing volume.
Gameplay: Fun for the whole family! lol maybe not... The sad thing about this game is that it is so good but it is WAY too short. I beat this game on a weekend on the 2nd difficulty setting. You'll have so many great guns and like I said the storyline is appealing and keeps you interested.... I saw this for 16 bucks at Bestbuy a few days ago...even if you do beat it in a week or so you'll want it for your collection... Can't wait till MP2 comes out this winter.
Graphics: Great...much better then the PS2 version... I would like to see more facial expressions from max....unlike some people I actually found the comic format to be quite interesting...although it would probably be cooler if it was all played out in animation format..like you could see it actually happening not just some snap shots.
Sound: I kept the remote in handy ... The sound would go from too loud to the point where i couldn't here it at all.... I did enjoy the characters voices and max's... you don't have to have a new york accent if you live in new york..
Suggestions: longer game!!!!!!!! build on to the storyline in max payne 2...dont start from scratch or go the prequel route.i want to know what happens to max and how he gets out of jail!

Gameplay: Great game, very intresting story that makes u want more.Controls are easy to get used to especialy with the bullet time.they only problem is after u`ve done it all, u probably w`ont go back.
Graphics: I`ve played the Ps2 version, and the xbox is way clearer and polished. You can turn on TV`s and turn on water fountains, its great!
Sound: Very good sound with all the slithest sounds, like rats, footsteps ect... Intresting to stay behind and hear thugs talk.Sometimes theres realy cool stuff to hear.
Suggestions: Maybe bring a little more freedom to the next game

Gameplay: Bullet time is off the hook. It's just genius. Shooting style is somewhat nice. Especially if you have 2 guns in each hand.
Graphics: This is eye candy. Looks better than ps2 version and even matches that of the PC. It really looks nice.

Overall: this is game is fun but when you beat it, it's all over and that's it. The game play is fun and the slow mo but i stoped playing it when i beat it.
Gameplay: game is ok no freeze ups and the slow mo is about the coolest thing in this game. Hard levels and different ones too.
Graphics: visuals are basic but toned up from the ps2 version. Max still looks a bit blocky but it is the best one out of all of them.
Sound: sound is good with a kind of gothic sound to it. Guns sounded good and slow mo was the best sound ever.

Overall: I would have to say Max Payne was the best game overall I have played
for the XBOX. Where as Halo is good for it's breathtaking graphics
and decent story, Max Payne is goof for it's breathtaking story and
decent graphics. I have always enjoyed the games with great stories,
like Max Payne, Resident Evil, The Zelda games, etc etc. The only gripe
I had with this game was it is too short, or at least feels too short
because you will love the story so much. There is not much replayability
once you beat the game, which probably makes this a rental at most.. But the best !&%$@#* rental you will ever get.
Gameplay: I have already spoken about it's story, which is very deep and very
immersive. The controls are easy to learn and use, and one can only
love the matrix-inspired "Bullet Time" moves you can pull off every
once and a while. Rent this game you will not be dissapointed. You have my guarantee. For
the gameplay alone, it is worth the 5 bucks.
Graphics: Although not amazing, the graphics for this dark, shoot-em-up are
good enough to get the game by. I have no problems with the graphics
at all, but I did experience some frame rate slow down when in battle
with 5 or more guys and everyone has full auto guns, it slows things
down a bit.
Sound: The gun sounds are exactly what you would expect, perfect, but the
real reason this gets 4.5 is the great voiceovers done by all the actors
playing these characters. They get right into the characters and you
fell like you are watching a movie and not watching a game cutscene.
Suggestions: Make the sequel have more levels and a longer story. Try to fix the frame rate problems if possible.

Overall: Its a pretty good game but could use some improvement. The graphics arent the best and there isnt much replay value.
Gameplay: The bullet time is pretty cool and its a fun game through the first time. I have beaten it 3 times and I have no more interest in playing it again. There are plenty of guns and it offers a pretty good challenge. It was fun but just got stale after a while.
Graphics: The graphics arent very good. The bullet time is pretty good but the player models look poor and the environments aren't that detail. They could have done better.
Sound: The sound is pretty good. When you are using bullet time the bullets sound like they are slowing down. The gun also sound good when not using bullettime. Otherwise there isnt much sound.
Suggestions: Add better graphics and make it have more replay. Maybe have it setup so that the enemys are in different locations each time you play through a level that way it isnt so predictable and seems 'new' each time you play through it.

Overall: Fun arcade feeling game, with an awsome story line. Really puts you in the game and lets you get to know all the characters and the PAYNE max feels.
Gameplay: Great gameplay, with pretty easy controls. The Bullet Time is so fun. Sniping is awsome watching the bullet trails.
Graphics: The Graphics suffer a little bit since its a Ps2 port. heir very edgy but the effect kind of fit the feel of the game. The slow motion effects and explosions are awsome.
Sound: Pretty decent but get really repetative. Guns sound sweet excpetally the shotguns. It could use some music though.

Overall: If you like shooting games, and have $20, you are really depriving yourself by not buying this game. I loved playing through it. Great graphics, trippy visuals, insane plot twists. This would actually make a good movie I think...
Gameplay: Its a shooter...the controls are a little looser than most I think (it lacks halo tightness) but nothing you dont get used to in the first 5 minutes of playing the game. Overall this was done very well.
Graphics: Very crisp, clean, and the bullet time feature is really cool. I really love the way blood sprays when you gun down a bad guy :)
Sound: It sounds like the game should sound. I dont have a spectacular sound system, so I'm not even really sure if I hear it the way its supposed to sound. But I never said to myself "gosh, this game sounds like crap" so I'll give it a 4.
Suggestions: Shooting games need some kind of multiplayer mode where you can gun down your friends. This is what gives it insane replay value and makes 100000 people run to the store to buy your game. It's why people are still running out to buy halo today.

Overall: A great original game that is truely amazing. You get to take on the role of the tortured cop Max Payne who is trying to take out his revenge on the people who were responsible for his familie's death. With a great story and tons of action your gonna love this game. Except your gonna love it for about a weekend and then you will have beat the whole !&%$@#* thing.
Gameplay: I have to say I love the slow motion fighting, watching bullets fly like your in the matrix is so cool. All there really is to the game is that you run around and shoot people full of lead, simple but its all we really wanna do anyways so who needs puzzles. Guns are all over from a shotgun to an assualt rifle you will surely go postal.
Graphics: The game looks really dark and gritty, but thats the point so it really gets you into the mood of the game. Max kinda looks real, but not perfect by any means. Various things will blow up and that all looks cool, the backgrounds all look decent. The comic book looking cut screens have a nice look and feel to them.
Sound: Very nicely done. Max's voice overs are very good. The sounds of gun fights really get the blood pumping, of course while your in blizzard makes it even better.

Overall: This game is awesome. Basically, your a cop who has nothing to lose, and he is out to find the killer of his wife and daughter. It's an awesome shooter, with a great story line.
Gameplay: The gameplay is really cool. It has a feature that lets you slow everything down which makes it feel Matrix like which is very cool.
Graphics: The visuals are pretty good. Nice detailing on the walls, and tv's etc. I think they spent quite sometime just doing the details, which really makes it look great.
Sound: The sound is cool, and at some points even creepy. I wont provide what parts I mean by crappy as it may spoil it for you, but when/if you play it, you will know what Im talking about.

Overall: John Woo, Chow-Yun Fat inspired shoot em up. Excellent shoot em up fun with buckets of style. Storyline is good but lets be honest... all we really want to do is run around with 2 guns in our hands, leap in slow motion and blast away the bad guys over and over again! Purchased the game on a Thursday... finished it by the following Monday... not sure yet if there will be much replay value but I will keep the game for a while longer as I do fancy giving it a try again on the hard boiled difficulty level. (Played fugitive first time round).
Gameplay: Pretty much covered it in my overall description but basically the game is a shoot em up in third person perspective. Plenty of weapons to go through and lots of great New York snow storm covered levels. There is however two sequences which are kind of dream/drugged out sequences which are rather annoying... fortunately they didn't spoil the game but, if they had a few more levels and got rid of these bits I would have gave it a 5 rather than 4.5
Graphics: I've seen people complain that it is just a port and that the power of the Xbox has not been fully utilised however, this did not detract from the fun for me and I felt the graphics basically did what they had to. I would say though that in the cartoon strip storylines between the levels I thought Max Payne looked a bit silly and perhaps not as menacing and crazy as I would picture him.
Sound: Guns sounded great... music, when present, fitted fine. Voice acting of the characters was very good. Everything seemed to work well... perhaps there could have been a bit more music but didn't bother me.
Suggestions: Get rid of the stupid drug dream sequence bits... they just proved annoying to be honest. Otherwise, more of the same most welcome!

Overall: Great game. It has great gameplay, humor, and best of all the sound is great too. This is one of the games I bought when I just got my Xbox. I stood up till 4am one night playing a hard mission until I finally beat it. If you want a game that you will play for a very long time, I recommend this one.
Gameplay: Great gameplay. The Real time action is amazing, and when you jump into slow-mo, the game is like no other. The guns have a great variety, and it includes my favorite gun, the Barreta. The controls are easy to learn, and take only about 10 minutes to master.
Graphics: I like the visuals. They could get better, but I also felt they didn't over use blood. In some games like Soldier of Fortune they over use blood and that just makes the game seem less realistic. Not only this, I also believed the faces were well detailed, but could be improved.
Sound: Good sound, but nowhere close to great. There isn't much music in the game and the only good parts are the bullet noises and the character voices which are well played out.
Suggestions: More weapons, better detailed faces, but overall, I can't wait for #2.

Gameplay: Bullet time is simply genious. I love it when I'm diving behind a computer console and people are shooting at me-all the while, bullets are flying past my head, floor and wall tiles are breaking off, sparks are flying as the bullets smash into the computer...simply awesome.
Graphics: The graphics look ported from the PS2...I can't say I'm impressed, but it could be worse-and I'm too busy shooting people to really notice. I guess I'll give it a 4.
Sound: The sound effects are pretty cool...All the wiseguys sounded the same, but their comments when they are talking to each other are effin hilae gonna be frickin rRicher than that, my little wiseguy.&quo FRICKIN rich!"

Overall: Step into the weird, confused life of Max Payne, an normal New York police officer whose life is changed for ever in a New York Minute. Instantly you are thrust into action as you take control of Max within his own house to discover that his own house is being robbed by psycho, drug addicts and to discover his family has been brutally murdered and his life has been flipped upside down. As the game unfolds you search for the killer and the truth behind the killing of you family, which leads to one of the highest levels in the land. From start to finish Max Payne is jam packed with excitement, with many weapons and the excellent bullet time feature. But for extra excitement and for those hardcore gamers, I?d suggest trying the harder difficulty levels and for those who have never tried this game I?d suggest to buy it for many, many hours of fun, guaranteed.
Gameplay: Max Payne combines both shooting and a great story line. What more could an XBOX owner like myself ask for. With loads of difficulty levels to play through, you'll never grow board of this game.
Graphics: Although the graphics of the game are not the best to be scene o the XBOX, it is still ideal for the game, although Max himself could be better looking.
Sound: Although the game Max Payne doesn't have a real great theme tune, and also the game does lack some good music to really set the scene, there are some very comedy parts of the game which i will always laugh at. Such as the part with the TV, 'My Lady, My Lord...'
Suggestions: There should be downloadable patches over XBOX live. It should also have tick boxes which tick when a difficulty level is complete.

Overall: Let me start off by saying that I waited over a year to even consider buying this game. I purchased it as a preowned game for just 17 bucks... I feel like a Jacka!@ for waiting so long and paying so little.. I should have bought it when it was first released and paid 50 bucks. This is a great game.
Gameplay: Your a vigilante cop thats out to get the killers of your wife and child.. Mature game, kill em all style.. Just about everything in the game works.. you can turn on televisions, radios, vibrating beds, and water fountains... besides from the game having to reload a little to often, This game rocks!
Graphics: The visual works for this game.. The characters sometime seem a little "blocky" (almost like PS2 style) but I got over that because bullet time and the story line kept me involved...
Sound: Yeah, Its that good.. In some sections of this game you fall into a dream/drug state, you have to follow a blood trail (really bizarre) while following the trail your passed away child is crying a screaming. This really adds the realism... Again another good score!
Suggestions: listen up people. If you like 3rd player "shoot em ups" get this, If you lucky like me and have waited, buy it for under 20 bucks and love it! I sure do...

Overall: Max Payne is a solid game, and chances are you won't be disappointed if you buy or rent this game. Overall, it was amusing entertainment and the story compelled me enough to make it through the game. I never completely fell in love with it, though.
Gameplay: As shooters go, this one has an above average story line. The controls are ok, and the bullet time is a nifty feature. I did have a few issues with the game. Primarily the scenes in which you have to walk the narrow lines (the dream sequences) and do platform style jumps to the next line. That type of thing does not belong in this game! The actual gamplay is pretty average. If it weren't for the good story and the addition of bullet time, this would be a yawner.
Graphics: Visually the game has diverse settings and is competent in painting the mood to go with the story. On the other hand, you won't see anything that knocks your socks off.
Sound: Voice acting is decent. The sounds of the guns, and backgrounds are good. Overall, the sound was a great part of the game.
Suggestions: Please do away with "walking the line" levels, and no platform style jumping if a sequel is made.

Overall: This is a simply excellent title. It captures the feel of movies like Hard Boiled and The Killer very well. It's obvious this is what the developers wanted. My only complaints are that the over the top story was too over the top and that it was far too linear.
Gameplay: Consists mostly of running around and shooting guys in the most stylish way possible. It's hard to grap how fun this game is from watching it because it seems that all you do is dive around corners and shoot goons in the head. Somehow, the formula holds very well for the eight hours or so you play it. I can't forget to mention the bullet time, which slows down gameplay buit allows you to aim your gun in realtime, mimicking the crackshot heroics of Chow Yun Fat. There is an awesome collection of weaponry, ranging from a lead pipe to a grenade launcher. Strangely, my favorite was the two barettas; it just made me feel like a man!
All isn't perfect, however. The sniper rifle is a tad annoying as you can't zoom out. Also, the design of the levels is extrememly linear. While this keeps the game moving--you shouldn't get lost more than once or twice--it also means that there is very little exploration. Example, you bring your one man army into a huge office building, but luckily your guided through it all by a series of locked and unlocked doors.
Graphics: Very pretty. Nice, gritty look. I'm surprised the game wasn't more graphic with the violence but that doesn't matter because that doesn't make the game any more fun. My only complaint is that there seems to be too many load screens. I have feeling this game was lifted from the ps2 version so the developers had to make concessions for that systems small britches, as it were. The xbox should've been able to handle all a lot more considering the many load screens.
Sound: The music is fitting, but not memorable. The sound effects are well done. A strong point is the voice acting, which was mostly good. Apart from requisite story modes, you can listen to the goons go on about different subjects, from job perks to what makes a good action movie. Much better than the random string of statements you overhear NPCs go on about in games like GTA:VC.
Suggestions: Keep it coming. Tone down the cheese. I felt like Max was actually just trying out some exercises he learned at a prose workshop. Also, more exploration.

Overall: good solid game with good solid controls and good graphics and a half decent storyline. Good level designs and so on.
Gameplay: the gameplay is nice nice nice.... Pretty much just like halo's. putting the game in slow motion to dodge pullets and have a better aim on your enemy is way cool.
Graphics: the graphics are cool. the characters animation is a nice solid foundation. The level design is alright.
Sound: Sound could have a lot more work don on it. Just above average on the qaulity of the sound......
Suggestions: Make sound better and story line not so lame.

Overall: Very exciting game. I like the way it control. I beat it all in 14 hours and feel good about it! Looking forward for Max Payne 2!
Gameplay: Great gameplay control! Nothing I see is wrong. I like the way it control better than halo. Looking up and down sucks in halo!! This one is perfect! Very comforable!! If you disagree. put ur thumb on ur back of head and move up and down and see which way ur head is looking. Your body is used to that control which is perfect! Halo's way is dumb.
Graphics: Awesome graphics! since it required to say 100 characters... AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! ;o)
Sound: I am deaf and doesnt care about the sounds. At least it have subtitles which is very important to me. I dont buy games without subtitles.
Suggestions: MAX PAYNE 2!!

Overall: After playing the PC version of this game at a friends house, i decided to give the xbox version a try. Max Payne is underated and should not be overlooked, this game ahs lots of apeal to it.
Gameplay: The #1 thing about this game is bullet time. Its a feature that lets you slow down the time, to let you perfom moves while shooting the bad guys. Its kinda hard after playing the PC version trying to perform these moves with a xbox controler but i got the hang of it in not time.
Graphics: Visually this game is basically the same as the PC version. all the characters look and move good.
but what the hell is up with max's constipated look??
Sound: the voice acting is crappy, the music fits the story, all in all it has good sound, but its nothing incredible.

Overall: As a whole, Max Payne has a great ammount of appeal. Though some of it may only appeal to a more mature audience, it doesn't take points away from the game at all. It's visually pleasing in the way that the graphics are crisp and the textures are pure (See VA section for more). The sound and voice acting gets an A+ in my book. There was nothing more I liked hearing than, "It's Payne, kill the b*stard!". That just made me want to whip out the Colt even more. The gameplay will take a little while to get used to but once you do, it sticks with you for the most part. You can change the sensitivity of the controls to your liking if you're really picky. The only grudge I hold with Max Payne is it's lasting appeal (See more in SA section).
Gameplay: The gameplay isn't a niche-type, despite what you may read at other gaming sites. It's a great conversion from the PC to the Xbox and yardsticks better than what Rockstar stuck PS2 with. Max moves smoothly and is very responsive to the controls. After you master the main controls and the oh-so-sweet bullet time, you won't find your eyes wondering down to the controller anymore. Infact, they'll probably be glued to the screen, as they should be. Gameplay can make or break a game but, Max Payne makes it over the hump as far as control go. I do have a complaint though. The puzzles that they threw in the game weren't fun. Instead of enjoying them, it felt like a job to beat them. Hopefully, if a sequal is made, these types of things will be left out.
Graphics: Max Payne is graphically pleasing. Period. Honestly, this game has some of the best Xbox visuals to date. Take some time to go play the PS2 version and then come back to your Xbox. There will be a gigantic difference, I guarantee you. I've played all 3 versions of this game and the Xbox is pretty much identical to the PC's graphics. I couldn't find a difference other than very little slow down when a lot is going on. My hat goes off to Rockstar for utilizing the Xbox's power to the best of it's ability.
Sound: I can see where the sound on this game may gripe some people. Like a lot of current games, the voice acting tends to get repetitive after awhile. Max Payne falls victim to this in some parts of the game. During shootouts and so forth you'll hear a lot of the same stuff you heard levels previous. The cut scenes were done well enough for me to like them. If you get annoyed easily, some of the noises and voices in Max Payne probably aren't for you.
Suggestions: You'll probably grow tired of Max Payne in a hurry. The game is very short and that is my largest complaint with it. The PC version has tons of stuff you could download for it but unfortunately, it wasn't made possible for the Xbox version. A month or so after you get Payne you may find yourself playing it again, like I do. But chances are you'll look to trade it after you beat it.

Overall: I love to play this game...it really is fun..You will notice that this game is a port...Never the less overall great gamplay.
Gameplay: The Control Scheme is great...this is what makes this game great...it has Bullet time..which is really handy. And with the quik save option you can kill yor allies, and then it will start back right where you saved it.
Graphics: They are pretty good but..This is the part that makes me angry about Ports....Well the developers know its going to be mutiplatform..
and yet they still never make any exclusive features for Xbox..for example:bump-mapping, where is that in this game huh??They coulda done it!
Sound: Sound is "Pretty" Good but could be better.
Suggestions: Everyone knows what a Graphical Powerhouse that the Xbox is...So not take advantage of it..Developer persons

Overall: This is the ultimate Guns Blazing Stooting Game. With the many chapters and hard core non stop action killing. You can take the challange over and over. The only thing i would ask for is for Max Payne 2!
Gameplay: This game is by far game of the year and in my opinion will always blow "Halo" away. It is im possible to get tired of this. Whats not to like? The oly thing i hated was the fact that the story line got old after a while. The Sequences of cinimatic storytelling throught the movie sucked after a few hours. I wish they had an option to turn it off. Other than that it is incredible.
Graphics: The slow motion sequences that you can do while fireing are incredible. With matrix type action you will never get tired of playing this game. I would like to see some different caracters. But i guess when your blowing them to hell it doesnt really matter.
Sound: Besides the story line this is one of the games weak points. It seems like the same old effects over and over. However when in "matrix" mode. You can really hear how hard they worked of the sound at that point. But in regular game play it all sounds the same to me.

Suggestions: You guys did a fantastic job. SOund could use a litle work. Besides that you have really found out what gamers want, and you have improved that and ecceded my expectations by far.
