Overall: Overall, this game was not bad at all. I played it during a time when i was very sick, and was forced to keep at it. After a long time of playing, i realized the depth was not bad and the music and gameplay kept me interested. The storyline was tough to follow, but not impossible, and was also interesting.
Gameplay: I liked the gameplay. Hectic, crazy running around shooting at other scoobies (mech players in the arena) was a blast, and scambling for the exit was always interesting. The upgrades for the mechs were completely customizable, which was also a good touch. It never got old, as long as you challenged yourself.
Graphics: Unfortunately, the visuals werw a bit muddy. Sometimes seeming almost dirty to watch, the combat could become too complicated or change location so often that the cameras had a hard time keeping up. It wasn't terrible though, and i dealt with it.
Sound: Music was excellent, and the sound effects went along with the feel of the game just right. They might not have been halo sound effects, but they went with the game.
Suggestions: More music! Custom soundtracks! AND MORE MECH PARTS!

Overall: This game is great! . It's the best mech game on the xbox and , therefore , ever . It is excellent !!.
Gameplay: You basically get a basic mech to start with , and then you have to fight against other mechs , destroying them , to get money . With this money , you make your mech the biggest , baddest mech ever !
Graphics: Brilliant . You cannot fault them at all . "Old Tokeo" looks simply amazing , and the mechs are brilliantly portrayed.
Sound: The sound , whilst still being great , is the lowest score for this game . The music is very japanese , and you can't burn your own . The weapons sound cool though.
Suggestions: Make a sequel !&%$@#* you !

Overall: Boring as hell, repetitive and very bad gameplay. You dont have a game here, it just looks like a beta or demo cuz it need alot of things to say this game is finished.

Gameplay: the way u move the character is kinda like all fps games, but the button set up is hard to remember.
Graphics: I only liked the intro movie, does that say it all about visuals in this "g4me"?. plus, when using the power of invisible it looks pretty lame.
Sound: I?ve heard better sounds coming out of me when finished 2 complete bowls of captain crunch cereal, so u can guess how bad the sounds are.
Suggestions: Improve the menus, multiplayer, history, models, levels, etc.. start from the begginnnin and tried to finish the game this time.

Overall: Man I love this game so much. . . its gran turismo with giant mechs. . . the best part of this game is the gameplay, and the soundtrack, and the visuals, and the upgrading, and the game. . . Anyone who rated this game low obviously doesn't understand the concept of depth. . . they just want their flashy mechassault. . . If theres a sequel to MechAssault it better have mech customization, thats what made the Mechwarrior games so awesome. . . erm I went off on a tangent but the devs of Mechassault really have some things to learn from Genki
Gameplay: It does kind of get old sometimes, mainly because you lose eyesight at like 1 hour into the game its so fast. . .
Graphics: Visuals are great, especially when you are in the cockpit view. . . the anime styled characters really make you feel like your watching one of those hundreds of anime giant robo shows. . .
Sound: Der Eisenrost is so awesome that having them on the soundtrack gives the sound department a 4, the fact that most of the music rules gives it the 5. . . I don't really notice the sound fx because I just listen to the music. . .
Suggestions: SEQUEL. . . LIVE play. . . less useless banter. . .

Overall: Well another mech title was released. Dont expect a mech assualt type of game here. The upgrading system is nice though.
Gameplay: There is single player vs in this game. The single player AI is quite dumb. They do talk smack like UT series but its not as cool. A plus is being able to upgrade your mech how you see it.
Graphics: The graphics are nice. Not as good as mechassault but still much better then any other system. The mechs are detailed as with the buliding sourrounding you.
Sound: The reason i gave it such a low score is becasue that they ai constant ranting is horrible. The say the same thing over and over again. The gun and missle sounds arent anything special and everything else seems subpar.
Suggestions: Needs live and much much better sound.

Overall: Its ok , no real thriller here. This game is pretty dull and pointless. Its entertaining for about 2 hours and thats about all you will get out of this game.
Gameplay: Its awesome, even I have to admit this game is ok but great in graphics. They have a real world kind of graphics.
Graphics: Its not great, but it will do. Most of the time you will get a hedache from the fast pace movements and the great graphics.
Sound: Its awesome, its has the best sound around, Thats what I would say if i was impressed. The sound is choopy some time and sometimes it doesent even make the right sound for the right action.
Suggestions: Do an entire make over of the game and for the people who actually bought the game , give them their money back.

Overall: first of all i saw this game website along time ago, so when i went to costco to see what i could like to buy, i saw this game at the incredible price of 20 bucks. I didnt expected to much for this game that is almost unknown for the major part of the xboxers.
Gameplay: like i read before, they compare this to mechassault... well i think they are completely different. MA is more about missions, this game is just fast mech destruction all the way to the end. The best of all is that you can customize every weapon, body and legs module of your mech, so you can haver diferent mechs everytime you upgrade the parts.
Graphics: the intro video was really amazin, but afer that the game doesnt use to much the graphic power of d xbox
Sound: these game has some tracks of real jap artists, remember jsrf includin some tracks of real music? well this is the same, but some tracks are kinda weird, but dont worry it is common music among the japs.
Suggestions: The multiplayer option was kinda stupid, i just got to destroy the mech once, make it score or time based.
There are too few levels, why; when i use 4 pads in multiplayer i can only choose 1 level? I think the xbox processor can handle all the levels with all the players.

Overall: The game is pretty fuin and cool, you can use your custom robots or buy models whcih already have their enhancements.
The multiplayer is fun too but you get to die just one time you don?t respawn.
Gameplay: The idea of mixing a robot battling game with a Rpg-style story, umm..well it sucks!
The battles and the controls are really cool with the stealth, but the story and the dialogues suck, it?s as if you were a ghost hearing at everyone else?s conversations!you don?t have to read anything cuz nothing is said to you!!
Graphics: Oh, the graphics amuse you, the way the environments looks make you feel as in a real battlefield and the robots look gre
Sound: Some of the songs are good but it sucked not to be able to play your own tracks. .
Suggestions: C?mon just make a plain robot wrecking game if you don?t want to screw things up!

Overall: Gran Turismo meets Robot Wars mixed in with Mech Assault. It's a battle arena game with robots you tweek much like a rally car.
Gameplay: It is fairly easy to play, but takes time to master. If this was online it would easily be the best online game ever. Still great in single player
Graphics: Everything is smooth and good. It's kind of war in Tony Hawks back streets but it's gone hardcore yet it's a game show. It's a wierd concept but it works and the graphics are just perfect to create this feel.
Sound: The sound is adequate and well suited to the game. I would not change a thing in this catagory. Perfect.
Suggestions: Make a sequel and make it Xbox Live compatible.

NINE BREAKER
Date reviewed: January 21, 2003.

Overall: I expected alot out of this game. And I wan't dissapointed. It's not Mech Assualt for sure, but it has alot that MA doesn't offer.
Gameplay: Probably the best part of this game is the abbility to upgrade,
customize, and change every thing. If Mech Assualt was too slow for you, then this game is for you. Man, it's FAST! For weigh'n in at a couple tons, they can pull off some blistering speed, and they respond beutifully. The controls are pretty easy to get used to. Now the text dialog is extremely slow, unimportant, useless. Unless you really like getting to know evertyhing about everyone, you'll find yourself skipping it all together to get back to the game.
Graphics: The in-battle graphics and those of the 'mechs are great. The battlefields are nicely detailed. Though there needs to be more of both of these. The only part I felt that lacked in visuality, is in the dialog sequences. What's up with have'n text instead of voice? And the characters are like something you'd see on PS1, all 2-D. All in all, the graphics are appealing, it's Anime what more can be said.
Sound: ALOT of music to choose from, I still haven't checked all of it out. Geat use of the Dolby. The sounds of battle are also nice, crisp, and clear.
Suggestions: Parts 2,3, and 4 please! Put as much time in the character's graphics and VOICE'S as there was in the battle graphics and that of the 'mechs. More 'mechs, more battlefields, the addition of Live, keep the abbility to upgrade, customize, and build the 'mech from ground up, and more game selections instead of just VS and Quest modes. Like team battles and such. Add bots to the VS mode instead of just 1-on-1. Other than that, you have a great game that has the potiential to be a great series of games.

Overall: Too much text to read between battles. Is that typical for Japanese games?
Gameplay: This is more like Unreal than Mechassualt. The mechs move really fast.

Sound: OK I supose

Overall: A solid title deserved of belonging in your collection.

It does require some work and many may get frustrated and move on before the game has a chance to deliver.

Persevere however and what we have here is a bit of a surprise package. Phantom Crash did not arrive on a chariot of hype, but instead casually strolled through the back door. The silent stranger in the corner which while appearing at first glance perhaps a little dodgy, nevertheless carries an air of intriuge.

Spend some time getting to know Phantom Crash however and a depth of character you never notice before suddenly becomes apparent. From that point you're gonna get along fine, hell you may even become best buddies.

Gameplay: Take a healthy slab of Gran Turismo, mix in some Mechwarrior and a spoonfull of Quake, then marinade in essence of Jet Set Radio Future.

This game draws influence from a number of sources.

The premise is simple, you will compete in one event per day chosen from the three available arenas over a total of 60 days.

The objective is to achieve as high a rank as possible over the duration.

The events themselves all amount to destroying as many if the oppositon as you can, with money being paid for each opponent you take down.

In short fairly standard Arena Deathmatch rules.

Like most arena games the gameplay is fast with combatants moving around the arenas at great pace and dispatching vast quantities of Scoobie shredding firepower.

While there are only three arenas the gameplay varies well between them, offering varying degrees of space, height and interconnectivity. The arenas themselves are all well constructed if a little lacking in size.

You can leave the arenas at any time throughout the rumble through any one of the gates. The longer you stay in and the more you destroy the more cash you get. Get taken out (crash) however and it's gonna cost you repair money, which can often result in you making a loss.

Wrapped around the rumbling matches is a GT style campaign which while fairly unique within the mech shooter genre, or indeed your average arena title, is very welcome.

You can spend a significant amount of time in between rumbles utilising the hard earned cash you have just received.

Everything has to be bought, from bodies and propulsion systems to weapons, paint jobs and tunes. Nothing comes for free, it is all earnt.

The depth of configuration is impressive with you being able to tweak your creations to achieve a number of playing styles, from all out rock hard, yet inevitably slow mobile fortress to a more fragile but nimble and stealthy assasin.

Different configurations will have varying degrees of sucess within each of the arenas. Don't worry though, you can assemble more than one Scoobie.

Up to Ten in fact if you buy the extra garage space. Additional slots over and above your gifted three once again cost money.

Tweaking your collection is a constant process as you attempt to work your way up the class system within each arena.

You must defeat a number of combatants within each class, split night and day, before the class rankers will present themselves foe challenge. Defeat them and the class is yours.

Complete all classes within an arena and you get to challenge the area ranker.

Take all three out and you can go for First Ranker who rules em all. This is no mean feat however and your going to spend a lot of hours before you achieve it. Plenty of replay vaue here folks especially as you can save your Scoobie experiments to the HDD for multiplayer purposes.

There is a lot of game here for those that want to commit the time.

There is room for improvement - see suggestions to developer - and I also feel there is one major gripe. The chat scenes. While I don't really have an issue with the retro graphics thing, and it sort of adds some character, most of what is said is drivel and you seem to have to endure it each time you play quest mode. First time round it was bad enough, third or fourth time and you start clawing at the wall.

An option to disable would be a godsend.

Graphics: Overall all I believe Phantom Crash to be a good looking and well presented game.

While not striking at first glance it has to be said that the longer you play the more you come to appreciate exactly how much is going on in terms of visual splendour.

During rumbling Soft focus, good textures, great lighting, particle effects and a very convincing Predator stylee Optical Camoflage are all in evidence. Oh and all without a murmur from the frame rate except for in extreme instances. Evne when there is a slight drop it is never enough to disrupt gameplay.

The intro seuences are good and set the scene well.

The campaign menus are well thought out and clearly presented.

Where it does, arguably, let itself down, are the chat sessions with other WireHeads. The developers have opted to go for a retro look harking back to the 16bit days. Whether it appeals will be largely down to personal choice.
Sound: Again Phantom Crash scores high, Sound effects are spot on and convinvingly portray the scene.

Any good shooter will enable you to discern the position of enemies and moreover give you a clue as to what type of enemy by sound alone, Phantom Crash is no exception.

Differing propulsion types, weapon systems, and your own sensory warnings are all instantly recognisable.

Tunes too are equally impressive with a wide selection of Japanese artists appealing to a variety of tastes.

The fact that you need to pay to play these tunes during rumbling adds another aspect of longevity and interest to the sound dept.
Suggestions: While a hell of a lot of fun, I goota say I think you are toe dipping. Testing the water.

What you have is the seed of something that could be truely great.

More arenas, more configuration options, greater variance between manufacturers, and ffs get it online.

The opportunity to be able to earn your Scoobie through a Campaign mode in single player and then take it into the multiplayer arenas online is something that appeals to a huge degree.

Even better if you could make the whole thing online with leagues and cups to be competed in by real players to earn money and buy parts.

Please make it so......

Overall: Thought it might be a cool game sounded like it could be a fun MP. Lets just say I was dissapointed in everything.
Gameplay: game play was slow and weak. The weapons I have seen and used in here were much to be desired. And the mechs all moved pretty much the same
Graphics: Graphics during gameplay were alright but nothing new and nothing impresive. The graphics during the conversations..lol snes to nes style and very poor. The characters dont even talk just pics with words.
Sound: lol nothing to grab you in game was ,,so so, during conver if I could it would be lower than a one.
Suggestions: Put more though and work into a game cause gamers need more than in the past. Maybe a cust soundtrack opt or more mechs better storey voice overs. The foundation was there you just never went any where with it. Oh and try maybe online.

Overall: Rest assured that as soon as I can, I'll be taking Phantom Crash back to Wal-Mart. The title itself and the cloaking ability may lure in the easily amused gamers that are out there (raises hand meekly), but after it's all said and done, there isn't anything THAT spectacular about it. The mechs, or what the game refers to as "Scoobee Vehicles", or Scoobees for short, are incredibly simplistic, and although you can design your own, there isn't anything that fantastic about them. On a side note: the only reason that I spent a couple hours on the game was because that's how long it takes to get past all of the verbal bantering between the game's cartoonish characters.
Gameplay: Gameplay is the only area that you'll see me give anywhere near high marks to this game in. The controls are easily grasped, and ANYONE can get the hang of how to "kill the bad guy" after a while of winging it. However, in times of panicking for your Scoobee's life, you eventually start to forget what button does what, and that's where the low-point of the gameplay arises.
Graphics: Visually speaking, the game is average. I'll give you that the Scoobees are nice and smooth, and the explosion effects are nice, but what got to me the most (and what sold me on the game) was the cloaking effect?it's just totally sweet. Aside from that, however, the game is lacking in the visuals department as well, so I'll give it a three.
Sound: The audio of the game is pretty sweet, being that it has Dolby Surround Sound right within the game itself?and with a surround-sound home theater system, the game is totally awesome sound-wise, so I'll give this a 4.5, as even though it DOES have excellent quality, the tracks within the game kinda get monotonous and boring, and adding your own custom soundtracks has to be "bought" with N.Y., or "New Yen" (the currency within the game).
