Description

ESPN NFL Football brings the complete NFL experience. Whether it's by making an opponent lose his shorts from a stop-and-go juke, by scraping your toes down as you make an acrobatic first-down catch along the sideline, or by piling on top of a swarming gang tackle on fourth and short -- you will truly feel everything that makes the National Football League so intense. Overall: An xbox live football title. Very good overall. This is a very good title all around. ourse is very good to have. I like the franchise mode with the sportscenter replays, and scores etc. I like the cro feature. However ESPN 2k5 has everything i wanted from this title so i suggest that.
Gameplay: Very good. I like the contorl style. Good playbooks. Realistic gameplay and movements. Very good for football fans.
Graphics: Very good again. Immerses you in the game very well. The details are amazing. Just look at a close-up replay and you should be pretty amazed.
Sound: It has chris berman as the announcer. Theres the usual grunts from th o-line when theyre blocking. The commentating lines dont get TO old.
Suggestions: Everything you did for 2k5 was AWESOME. Keep up the good work.

Overall: Basic NFL game but easily the best one that has ever been made, even if you didn't like the previous ones you'll love this game and never stop playing it.
Gameplay: Fantastic gameplay. Tons to do with normal matches, that can have the starting rosters scrambled so you end up with people from all the teams in the league, fantasy draft games in which you get to pick your QB, HB, FB/WR, WR, WR, TE, K and defence.
There is also franchise mode in which you can do a fantasy draft, or even simulate your team and go with what you are given, there is the new feature of 1st person football that works well on offense but on defense has alot to be fixed. In the franchise mode there is even end of year awards, trading blocks, scouting reports for the draft including the workouts and combine, and excellent free-agents system and you can see of if any of your players have made the pro-bowl (allthough it is dissapointing that you can't play in it) It has fantastic controls, with great, extremely realistic passing, where if you make a mistake, it'll be picked off straight away. The running game is excellent but with some easy blocks being missed, the excellent power moves like the stiff-arm and shoulder charge makes sure you are ready for anything and making you think whether you should charge up for a power move or use speed to get away.
Graphics: The best looking game on the Xbox (doesn't matter what anyone else says) you can get a random team and without knowing who is on your team you can play and got replay and go around the ground just looking at peoples faces, you will be able to work out who is who for nearly every player in the game. The crowd also looks good, but too bad it is the same people over and over going for different teams. The grounds are top notch and all the teams uniforms are great, it's also great that you can use alternate strips.
Sound: Great sound with the ability to have songs off your Xbox hard-drive playing while in menus, the commentating is the best you will ever hear in a game (except for maybe the next one), just for fun get your team into the redzone then give it to your HB and have him run the other way and listen to the commentating (classic). Crowd noise is good, but they could be alot lowder. Special crowd noise for particular players would be great to see(hear), how good would it be if the Eagles were playing the 49ers in SF, and whenever TO caught a ball everyone would boo?
Suggestions: Make another billion. Make the crowd louder, some minicamp drills like in Madden would be good, it would also be good if in a franchise you could take your team and go train with them to improve their stats.

Overall: Without a doubt the best football game in
history. No one this year has even come
close to matching espn's effort in making
this the best. Keep up the good work
espn and if its possible make 2k5 even
better!
Gameplay: The gameplay is more realistic than any
madden or fever game on the market. It
is shaky at times but still the best in the
buisness.
Graphics: The graphics on this game are no doubt
the best. Its very realistic and not the
cartoon characters of fever and the
rubery figures of madden.
Sound: The commentary is good, but there is lots
of repitition. While playing i can almost
talk along with the commentators. But it is
still probably one of the best you will find.
All of the espn series has exceptional
commentating
Suggestions: The only suggestions is that during any
sports game on two player its like the
computer tries to keep the game close.
The computer will allow you or your
opponent to make rediculous catches
and runs. If there is any way to make the
game more competitive then do so. I get
tired of losing to someone that literally
breaks 15 tackles on one play for a 90
yard TD run at the end of the fourth
quarter. That is impossible because stuff
like that happens on all games and there
has to be a way to fix it. Im tired of getting
screwed over by the computer. And im
talking about all and every sports game
no just the espn series. But I would like to
thank espn for the greatest games ive
ever played!

Overall: I'm very suprised. I am a big Madden fan and I very much like this game. A few problems with gameplay/controls but other than that, this is a very solid game.

The thing that made me decide to buy this game was X-Box Live. Playing season upon season is all good and fun... but with the ability to play on-line, this game will not get old anytime soon.

Gameplay: Well let?s start with what I don't like. First, the controls, being a madden fan I've gotten so use to where the buttons should be. The biggest one is on defense. I'm used to the "B" button being where speed burst should be and I end up changing guys. It would be great if you could customize your controller instead of only having 2 alt setups to use.
The movement of the players in the game is not quite as smooth as madden. IMO, the controls are too responsive.
Other than those couple of things... This game is awesome. Although I've found that I suck playing in 1st person mode, it is a blast. The trash talk, the crowd, the heart pounding when you slow things down. Very exciting experience.
The commentators are defiantly a welcomed change from the all annoying John Madden.
Probably my favorite part of the game.... The end of the week NFL PRIMETIME w/ Chris Berrman. The highlights w/ Chris commentating is one of the coolest things I have ever seen in a video game.
The Crib is a great feature that does a good job of replacing madden cards. And I like the way you can customize it.

Graphics: The graphics are 1st class. Players look good, coaches, fans, everything looks really good. There does seem to be some issues with gapping when 2 graphics meet. Like when it shows the coach clapping, players giving high 5's, or allot of times on tackles... there is a significant gap between where the 2 graphics are supposed to meet.
Sound: I've been playing online allot and normally keep the sound way down. Although I can't wait to get it hooked up to my surround sound system... I'll bet it is going to sound great.
Suggestions: Cheerleader... work on faces and get rid of the bulge between their legs.
Fix the gaps between the graphics.

Overall: Excellent Game! This game is a lot of fun to play and is very realistic in how it is presented to the player. This game goes so deep that it is just almost too much to try to comprehend when you step away and think about what you have in front of you. It's really well done and first person mode is just too much to describe, go get it and see for yourself.
Gameplay: Excellent, the controls are easy to learn, there are not hundreds of things to remember when in a tight situation which makes it more fun to focus on the game vs the controller.
Graphics: Excellent! Top quality graphics and animations. The time and effort to create this is an example of how committed ESPN is to sports and how they won't let anyone use their brand unless the deliverable is top quality. This game looks great from soup to nuts!
Sound: Excellent here as well. Again, the attention to detail and voice overs by Chris Berman are a real plus to this game.
Suggestions: None I can think of, this is as good as it gets for a football game. Nice job to the development team.

Overall: This game is tight. I love everything about it. The First Person, XBL combo is SWEEET. I didn't think I would like the first person football, but to my suprise, its one of my favorite modes in a game EVER
Gameplay: This game has the best gameplay of any football game out there.. Purely because of XBox live and first person football. The dynasty or franchise mode isnt as good as madden, but the first person football and XBL are too good to give up!!!
Graphics: The graphics in this game are great. I am thouroly satisfied with ESPN's job of graphics. Of course the 2k' dynasty had always led the way, but these graphics are AWESOME!!!
Sound: The sounds in this game are awesome. It is the best I have seen yet. The first person football is the best. You can hear your favorite players talking trash, and other cool features like that.

Overall: I have been an avid Madden fan every since the Sega Genesis days. I got 2K when I bought the Dreamcast and fell in love with the series. I was skeptical about it once Madden came to PS2, but then I tried 2K3 and got hooked again. 2K4 is of the chain!! The game has come a long way from 2K3 and makes me look forward to 2K5. This game is "the" football game for XBOX!!!
Gameplay: I like the way it handles, (with the exception on the stick up their butts running style) as the game has a very good pace. I think it flows better than Madden (forgive me John)and is not too far off in realism.
Graphics: The players look so real is scary! I was playing this game at work and one of the guys saw it and was blown away. I wouls like them to use the XBOX's potential more and have accumulating effects. The uniforms, stadiums, and players are great. Only complaint is the cheerleaders, who look like they're on speed.
Sound: You hear them talking trash, and the sound of impact is awesome. The crowd boos and cheers,(I'd like to see them borrow from fever and have comments from the coaches).
Suggestions: More in terms of weather effects, comments from coaches, better cheerleaders, stadium builder, signing bonuses to help with salary caps.

Gameplay: gameplay is very smooth. There are a few plays that glitch every time but o well i've learned not to pick those plays.
Graphics: graphics are very nice. Running looks kinda stiff but o well thats like the only flaw i can think of.

Overall: Oh baby! 2k4 is in the house and it is jam packed with unlockables, great new franichise options, and other tasty treates like First Person Football.
Gameplay: The gameplay is slowed down and a lot more realistic. With gang tackles and the option to use the right thumb stick for running moves, you have a better feel for the game. There is the franchise and season mode options. My favorite is the crib where you unlock crib items via making big plays in games. Its the answer to the madden cards imo.
Graphics: If you got a HDTV your ognna love the graphics. The fans are not detailed unless they show the special cinematics where people have there shirt off and cheer etc. Same thing to alway be expected with SEGA: Great presentation and the ESPN franchise finally took the task of adding in a half time show which is really cool. It takes pictures of the big plays so far and Chris Berman commentates on them.
Sound: Extremly good commentary. I believe that compared to Fever and MAdden 2k4 blows the comp away. In the crib you can select your music and have songs off teh hardrive playing.
Suggestions: Its Live enabled. Hurry up and go buy this game. If your not a football fan this will make you one. Best choicie out of all three of the football games out on the box.

Overall: overall its a great game plenty of action and extra things to open if you are looking for a good simulation football games this is it,but first person view well thats another story
Gameplay: The gameplay is great its so easy a beginner would have no problem control everything.learn time is 30 mins-1hr tops
Graphics: this game look great the close ups are incredible you see mouths moving eyes blinking,I mean what more can you ask for,the move are so real it amazing..
Sound: the sound is kool as far as the trash talking and the hits but the commentators after a while gets boring and actually the recalling of the plays are slow so if you dont need them I suggest you turn them down in sound options.
Suggestions: the crib mode is great but if you forget to save your user record you lose everything so lets try some user auto saves.and fellows lets lose first person view......

Overall: First of all i would like to say that this is the best football game on the market and it also has xbox live capabality. It also has the first person mode, and while it is hard its fun to play.
Gameplay: This game is really fun. I liked how the developers fixed the dropped passes part. I also like the crib and how you can unlock stuff in a fun way rather than madden cards which are just sort of there.
Graphics: Good Graphics although the coaches could use some work. It also has support for 720p which is good although i don't have the hdtv pack so i haven't hooked it up to our hdtv yet so i don't know how much better it will look.
Sound: Commentary is pretty good. I'm in my second franchise season and i'm still hearing new commentary. although some things are a little repetative. i also like how they have chris berman and the rest of the espn sunday night staff.

Overall: Overall This game is a great sequel to 2k3. The gameplay is smooth, The graphics are awesome and commentary and features seals the deal. There is a glitch that i noticed that should have been fixed but I wont go into detail.
Gameplay: From Running the ball to passing the Ball its just like the real thing. You can Challenge plays. There is alot more jukes in the game. The players actually hold on to the ball more unlike 2k3. Overall a great sequel.
Graphics: This is where the game shines. The graphics are really good. All the players look as good as in real life. When playing it looks alot smoother then the pass series of the game.
Sound: Well its a football game and all you will be hearing is commentary and players getting smacked. So the sound is good and will fill your need for a great football game.

Overall: Definitely the best football game I've played to date. The crib and first person make it all worthwhile. Live is nicely set up, and gameplay is great.
Gameplay: Very very good. Its basically the same setup as 2k3, which is a good thing. First person is ok, but not great. It is a little hard to make plays and orient yourself, but the "bullet time" feature makes it a lot easier and more enjoyable. Lotsa goodies to keep you entertained.
Graphics: Great graphics, especially in first person mode. There are occasional slip-ups and weird movements, but no game is perfect (yet, so this is to be expected). The crib flyaround is pretty nice as well.
Sound: Breathing in first person is intense! The sound shines in first person mode, but is nice and consistant throughout the entire game. The announcers are not stupid as well, so you can actually enjoy their chatter.

Overall: Buy this game and fast if u are a die hard 2k series gamer like i am. Graphics are gr8 and the gameplay is better than madden and fever put together. the only bad thing about the game is that there is too many penalties called on defense. and it is always the same whether it's a pass interference or roughing the passer or kicker. Also the 1st person football is hard to get used to but it is really cool feature.
Gameplay: The gameplay is awesome probably the best out of all the games out. for the running game u just hold the a button to charge and do all the special moves like juking and so on. the passing game is alright but playing cooperatively with yur friends and the passing game is impossible.
Graphics: How could this get any better, the faces on the players look almost real. also when u make good plays u see yur fans in the stands celebrating. and the ESPN broadcast sealed the deal. buy buy buy.
Sound: commentary is good. also when playing the game you can hear yur players talking before and after a play. i was playing 1st person mode and got sacked. 1 of my teammates(49ers) said hay jeff don't be like steve or joe. i thought this was impressive.
Suggestions: better up the graphics, i couldn't tell the difference between the natural grass and the dome turf.
and plese lighten up on the penalties.

All around good game, a must get.

Overall: ESPN Football is the best xbox game out right now. It has online capabilities complete with scoreboards and downloadable content. There is also new AI and other features in this years game. Some of those features are the pregame and halftime shows. I love watching them!
Gameplay: ESPN Football has added two new features this year. "First Person Mode" and "Cribs." I don't really care for either one, but less-serious football gamers might find it a treat. I'm sure all the NFL 2K3 gamers from last year still have nightmares in their heads of receivers constantly dropping balls if they're hit even within 2 seconds of catching the ball. It was ridiculous. Sega has solved this problem and receivers are MUCH more dependable in this years game. Although the receiving has been fixed, another problem has aroused with this years game. Running backs break a substantial amount of tackles. My league team is the Atlanta Falcons and little Warrick Dunn is a beast at breaking tackles. There's also "super backs" in this game such as Ricky Williams and Stephen Davis. They are almost unstoppable.

Another thing that has been fixed this year is the play-selection screen. All those times last year when friends would come over and we could just straight look at each other's plays. No more of that. Poof it's gone. This year ESPN Football ahs taken the madden approach for the play selection screen. You get 3 plays up on your screen and you press the button of the corresponding play. It did take some getting used to for old NFL 2K3 players, but you should get it after a few games.

Graphics: Graphics are phenominal. You don't get the droned-out look of players like Madden has. Quincy Carter really looks like Quincy Carter and Roy Williams really looks like Roy Williams. I dunno how they did it, but it's amazing how accurate they did the faces. Another thing if you ever use replay, you can actually see things up close. I was expecting to see the defender stare straight into the sky when defending a pass... but you can tell that his eyes actually lock onto the ball and follow it. Phenominal! I could only imagine what it would be like years from now.
Sound: ESPN Football has the best announcers of all the football games. They're are so many variations of comments by the announcers, it never seems to get old.

Overall: Man, all I can say is this game blew my freakin mind away. I have been addicted to this game, whether it's been online or off.
Gameplay: The gameplay I find is amazing. I think it is the most realistical football game made to date. It actually feels like a real football game with gang tackles etc.
Graphics: The graphics look stellar as always. Big ups to Sega on that. The detailing is great I think, except of course the crowd problem that every sports game has, is still to be solved. Other than that, great
.
Sound: The sounds are good. I like the anaylis done by Chris "Boomer" Berman before the games and stuff. Makes it feel more like a broadcast. The sound effects are great during FP mode, with player chatter etc. And, you can listen to custom soundtracks while in your crib, no biggy, but still nice.
Suggestions: Make the soundtracks available through all menu's etc, and also, to try and solve the crowd problem. Keep it up for 2K5:)

Overall: Awesome football game from EA. Finally, someone who can contend with Madden. ESPN added all new features like the Crib, and nice graphics. The 1st person mode is very nice, and is revolutionary to sports games.
Gameplay: It's basically a fun game to play. It is similar to Madden, but also has somewhat of an arcade feel to go along with it. The addition of the Crib, which lets you customize your house, and other features, there is a 1st person mode which makes this a game to be reckoned with.
Graphics: Great graphics. I don't think there is a game out there right now that has this level of quality. When catching a ball as a receiver it is almost like you are actually playing. Even your house looks amazing.
Sound: The breathing effect in 1st person mode is the coolest sound in the game. Also the annoucers are average, and can be pretty funny at times.

Overall: Great game, I loved the gameplay of it, especially the first person football. Definetly the most realistic football game to date.
Gameplay: The gameplay in ESPN Football 2k4 is great, I especially loved the first person football and the crib. The crib is cool because you can look at the trophies you won, and play some mini games, as well as watch videos you unlock. You can also get bobbleheads and more. First Person football is extremely fun and adds a whole new aspet to the game. The only bad thing is that it is extremely easy to run the ball and break tackles.
Graphics: The graphics in 2k4 are amazing. While they ren't the best graphics in the world, they are still very good, and among the tops for any game.
Sound: I didn't really notice it being bad or good. It wasn't annoying, but it wasn't awe inspiring either. It did make a nice noise when you pop someone though ;)

Overall: Last year I converted from Madden to Sega and I love NFL 2K3. This year's game is even better with a deep use of the ESPN License. For the most part the game feels like last years but with a face lift and better configured controls. Overall the game has carried over all the good qualities of the previous version with more polish to them and added some nice new features. This the best Football game out there in my opinion.
Gameplay: The controls are fantastic and easy to learn especially with the new tutorial. Running has been made much easier, almost too easy on the default difficulty setting making big rushing plays a common occurance. The playcall system has taken on a Maddenesque style which actually was a turn off for me I have grown to appreciate the old system. The new system is very good, but it doesn't allow one to scan through the plays as quickly or see the plays up close like the old play call system. The ESPN license has been put to good use and the commentary is as good it was last year. The stats tracking system has been vastly improved and the crib is a nice way to implement unlockables into the game. The franchise mode is basically the same with a different more user friendly interface. One thing I really appreciate is that you can now export your franchise team and use it in the quick game mode or take it over to a friends house to use it against their franchise team. First person football is fun but not something I'll be spending a whole lot of time playing. Its does an incredible job of giving you a feeling of being on the field but it is rather difficult to see everything with the limited view.
Graphics: The visuals are very impressive with many more realistic animations added with total and complete use of the ESPN license in every aspect of the presentation. The stadiums look good and the framerate is silky smooth.
Sound: The same fantastic commentators are back and doing the best video game commentary out there. They've actually added the choice of having user soundtracks playing during the menus. The sounds on the field sound are great and the crowds roar is heard in all the surround channels.
Suggestions: Add more to the stats tracking like comparisons between two users and there records playing against each other.

Overall: This is the best football game period. With all new animations, the complete ESPN package, new play calling system (Thank You!) and a graphics overhaul. I enojoy this game more than Fever and Madden which doesn't come even close to fun. This game is the way to go. Lets not forget the crib! Excellent Feature!
Gameplay: This game always had the best gameplay since NFL2k. This year, it continues to grow. This game has so many animations, you won't see them all going through a single season. The play calling system resembles Madden, which is a good thing. The passing game has improved compared to last years, their's more catches but don't expect it every play. Interceptions have been towned down to be more realistic. The game runs very smooth and is a blast online! Overall, Its Fun!
Graphics: The visuals are the best! Its a lot more crisp than madden. The stadiums are realistic to the real ones. Some parts of the game, you'll see crowd cheering or booing in 3d! Other than that, they are flat. The visuals are clean and crisp!
Sound: Commentery is the best out there. Less repetive than other games and theres very little errors. The crowed interacts, on field sounds are good, and sounds great with surround sound!
Suggestions: Best game on the market. On the leaderboard, put a command so it takes us to our rank. Leagues in next years game for online would be great! Great Game!

Overall: Madden who?!? What is all this talk about Madden 2k4 being the best football game this year?? I think not! Madden was king during the PS1 days. We are in the Xbox era now and it is time for John to take the back seat (or trunk). ESPN *SEGA* 2k4 is by far the best football game ever made to date! This game kicks ass!! EA Sports has really gone downhill with there sports games. And if you purchase an EA title over a ESPN title, you are a victim! Say no to crack! Nuff said..
Gameplay: The gameplay is amazing! Everything about the game is an improvement from last years 2k3 (which ruled in 2k3). From the training mode to the Franchise mode to The Crib. Thats right! You even have your own Crib to deck out with team collectables and Leather Recliners! And if that's not enough, you can even unlock a table football game for your crib! Does it get any better than that? I think not!
Graphics: The graphics are insane! And the replys are like TV! I find myself watching replys more than ever. Even the diehard shirtless fans in the crowd look real. And the Cheerleaders.. You can't have football without the ladies cheering you on! And when they start removing there clothes when the temp goes above 97`F is just an added bonus ;)BUT the biggest visual improvement in this years 2k4 is the HDTV support! It's about time!
Sound: Helment cracking, Knee snappin', Eye gouging, you hear it all! You even get Primetime himself Chris Berman! Stick on the surround, and you feel in the game!
Suggestions: The ONLY thing Madden has on ESPN...
Build your own Stadium! Get that, and Madden is forgotten. Also, where are you suppose to get your mack on if you can't get upstairs in your crib?

Overall: Overall this is the best football game on the market. I have been playing Madden just to feed the football bug until ESPN came out. Now I have sold Madden on EBAY because there is no way I would ever play it again. Madden was a good football game, but does not deliver the fun and excitement that ESPN gives you. The ESPN broadcast within the game makes you fell like you are watching an ESPN televised game. ESPN is without a doubt a game you should try.
Gameplay: Gameplay has improved over last years game. No longer are you cussing players for dropping easy passes, or droping every catch because you are hit. Running game can be a bit easy at time and could be adjusted a bit. Kicking has improved and the gameplay is smooth and runs at a great pace.
Graphics: The game looks great, down to the players and the fans. 3D rendered fans give the game a great feel. 3D fans are only shown on close ups, the rest of the time its the same fill the seats cardboard effect. Even the sidelines are filled with great 3D cheerleaders and coaches that look like the real counterparts. Stadiums all look like the real deal and weather effects are great also.
Sound: Sound is an improvement also, if you are lucky enough to have a good entertainment system to play on, you will feel like you are in the game. Commentary is by far the best in any game.
Suggestions: All I could say is a adjust the running game a little, if you have a really good RB, you can make it past the first defender almost every time. In all though this is an almost perfect game. Keep up the good work, and if you put this much effort into all you sports games you will take over the fans of EA.
/p
I originally gave this game a perfect score, but after playing a little more I have found minor flaws that could be fixed. Still worth a purchase though.

Overall: I am extremly impressed with this years football game..Sega has done ESPN justice in the presentation graphics sound and overall feeling and immersement of the football experience...the game has nice little touches such as having a tutorial and a game manual that is accesible in the game and also has a handy reference guide that you can learn more about the game of football such as the jargon of the game.very cool..not sure of what i think about the crib feature yet but i am very pleased that i choose this game over the others and i highly recommend it to everyone
Gameplay: three words -First Person Football- unazy..if you have never played organized football before this is as close as it gets....i have been playing on the default pro mode and it is pretty challenging.the teams play like are in the real leagues..keeps great stats..such as .5 sacks which blew me away...very fun easy too get into there is even a tutorial that walks you through everything in the game.
Graphics: amazing the new animation is just superb the whole presentation is just like watching a football game on espn..the tackles are very cool. the players look very life-like..the stadiums are recreated with precise detail....awesome.
Sound: it seems a little quiet for me maybe I am just used to play ncaa 03. the play by play is very good i am just not a fan of the two guys in the booth...maybe next year they can get the guys from espn.
Suggestions: Get different announcer.
