Halo 2

Overall: Quite possibly my biggest disappointment in gaming. Bungie's Halo 2 was a significant downgrade from their masterpiece, Halo: Combat Evolved. What we are left with is a game filled with glitches and unbalanced weapons.

Gameplay: The gameplay is stiff. You are not as light on your feet as you were in Halo 1. Sure, it may be more "realistic", but in a Sci-Fi shooter, it isn't meant to be realistic. The game should be balanced and it simply isn't.

The weapons are a large part of the disappointment as they lead to why the game is unbalanced. The game has roughly nine short-to-pointblank range weapons, 2 midrange weapons, and 2 long range weapons. There are not enough midrange weapons. Right away, Bungie is clearly showing that the focus of the game is short range combat. Yes, I am aware that the midrange and long range weapons are very effective at close range. The sniper is amazing at close range due to the auto-aim in Halo 2. What the game lacks is a good spawning weapon. With the SMG, you can't defend yourself from spawn. You are forced to find another weapon. In Halo: Combat Evolved, while you were at a disadvantage, you could still compete from spawn.

With all of these problems in the weapon balance, the game isn't very fun. Too much emphasis is based on luck of spawn points and too little is placed on skill.

Graphics: While the visuals are technically nice, I don't like the artistic side of the weapons. I think the new Spartan model isn't very good. The Covenant Carbine is quite ugly. Were it not for my artistic views, the score would have been higher.

Audio: Some of the weapons do not sound powerful enough. This is the same problem that plauged Doom 3. The battle rifle sounded much better when it was fired in single shots (how it should still fire). The soundtrack is hit or miss. While some of the songs are perfect, some are lacking.

I think the main problem for me is that the music rarely fits the battle. You are often in a firefight while you are forced to listen to soft music. The song "Peril" is a perfect example. Great song, but not good for battles.

Suggestions: Take back many of the new "improvements". Bring back Halo's physics engine, rebalance the weapons, but keep the emblem options.

Overall Score: 6.0 / 10 Burnout

Overall: I read in reviews that this was an exciting game. Great crashes and overall fun. When I played this game, those were thrown out the window. Bad crashes and one of the most boring race games I have ever played.

Gameplay: Quality gameplay is not an issue in this game. The cars are not fun to drive and the levels are really bad. It feels very boring. I remember careening around corners and jamming down the gas on straitaways and I sat there, bored out of my mind. This game is not going to ever come remotly close to a top 100 favorite games. The crashes should have been sweet but, they reset you on the course after the hit. That was not fun. I wish you would have had to get out of the mess you made yourself. Also the crashes are not exciting at all.

Graphics: Visuals seemed average. They could have been better considering that there are currently games like rallisport our that have breathtaking textures. When I heard about this game when it was anounced for ps2, I wanted it bad. I never got around to renting it and then found out it was on xbox. I played it and saw that the graphics were not much different. If only this was not a ps2 port. The graphics could have been better.

Audio: The sound it not very exceptional but not horrible. If they release a sequal, they need a custom soundtrack feature.

Suggestions: Custom soundtrackts, ability to not reseton track after you hit a car and tweak the game so it looks like you are really going fast.

Overall Score: 5.0 / 10 Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2

Overall: Very well built. It rivals Tony Hawk 2x as my favorite extreme sport on xbox. I wish it had simultanious multiplayer extraviganzas, but it isn't a problem.

Gameplay: The real game is star quality. Very fun and usually not to difficult, the insane ones are difficult but possible. Though grinding the curved rails is almost imposible for me, i am getting there to beat it.

Graphics: Breathtaking visuals, these words discribe the graphics. I love the water and the grass. The texture was almost overdone, but you can't have too much of a good thing.

Audio: The bands are very good, and including the custom soundtract feature, nice work. I found myself looking in to some bands after i heard them here. Great sound effects too. I love boats zooming by and the spokes on the bike crackaling along.

Suggestions: Make a couple objectives less of a chalenge, a 900 on pro dificulty, too hard. I can understand the one on hardcore though. Simoltanious multiplayer events. I can't wait for the third one, i saw the banner that says that, nice secret.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 The Simpsons Road Rage

Overall: This game is extremely fun. The sound is great. The graphics are good. If you like Simpsons then you will love this game.

Gameplay: The game is fun to play. There is lots of passengers to find. You'll find yourself saying "now who to pick up today?"One of my favorite xbox games.

Graphics: Fine and dandy as sour candy, the words of Flanders and George Bush seinor in that great episode. There are perfect renditions of the charactors.

Audio: The sounds will never get anoying. Like grandpa with "In my day we use to call sandwitches flat freddies, they cost 4 playing cards a bite." Who could forget the memorable sayings in this game. They even have ol' Gil with the famos "Gil's in a lot of trouble now."

Suggestions: Make Gil a passenger or a playable person.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
