I have always been a fan of first person shooter video games. It probably all started when a friend of mine introduced an aspiring video game addict to a simple program called Wolfenstein 3D. After about five hours and one rather large, splitting headache later, I was hooked on a new drug called the FPS."

Overall: WARINING: DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT BUY, RENT, STEAL, BURN, THINK ABOUT OR EVEN BRUSH YOUR HAND AGAINST IT WHEN YOU PICK UP SOMETHING NEXT TO IT ON THE SHELVE...THIS IS A JOKE, POOR GRAPHICS, POOR WEAPONS, A FRAMERATE OF APOCALLYPTIC PROPORTIONS THOUGH HOW SMALL, AND LOADTIMES THAT WILL MEALT THE SKIN OF YOUR FACE AS YOU WAIT AND WISH YOU DIDNT PUT THIS WRETCHED THING IN YOUR XBOX..THIS IS THE KIND OF THING THAT KEEPS THIS SYSTEM FROM TOPPING SONY..AND ITS UTTER CRAP
Gameplay: the framerate cripples what little gameplay this game has...if you want more intense gameplay; write a letter to "cliffy b" and his unreal buddies to not insult us comsumers with this garbage...that would be time well spent
Graphics: remember in indiana jones, when the opened the ark, and that one guy's face melted off and then exploded? well imagine that when you see this game for the first time, the graphics were soo bad..ok the framerate is really bad..ive notice on most unreal powered games on the xb, it means great geometry with all the pipes and beams and crap and crap almost n64 quality textures and a framerate that that dips below 20fps i suppose to match the number of copies sold of this abomination. The textures are bland blury, blocky and sometimes not lined up right and just agravating to look at, imagine the worst looking dreamcast game and that would kick this thing's butt. the weapons all look lame and show what most lame weapons shoot..notice also when you are in complete darkness and shoot any weapon, it does not light the room any, not the walls, not the gun, not the floor...they forgot to add lighting into this cadaver as well...no impresive monsters just all generic unreal s
Sound: i dont remember any sound its not important at this point wouldnt you agree? if i ranted this much about this game wouldnt you not be concerned either?
Suggestions: try making something that doesnt make the systems capabilities seem almost two generations behind? dont sell this game to us, you insult me and others who have delt with this game...ive had leg cramps that were more fun than this game...if your technology is soo bloody good, why doesnt this game kick ass?

all i can say is NO

Overall: I think this game deserves more credit then it is getting. I just read the review it got from one of the staff members and they killed the game. I say to all those people yet to play this game...Rent this game first and if you like it buy it. I actullay bought the game the first day it came out...i played and at first only liking the single player mode but then after playing the online mode and getting use to it it got really fun, just like other people have descirbed below me the online game can get really fun, using gun turets and choosing what class you want to be, and Atari has anounced more level and game modes for download. So for me personally who has Halo and love the game i recomend this game due to the intense single and online play.
Gameplay: You are a something or another, a typical gunner who has to save the world, but the best thing about the game is the levels, there are some levels that are good in graphics and have that scary feeling when your in a walk way through the ship and big ugly spiders jumping everywere and even when thier not around they make creepy noises, those little touches are what makes the game. Online is were this game also is great, like i said above you have to play it a couple of times and then the game gets going.
Graphics: Ehhh wasnt the best but in some parts it had its great moments when you wouldnt take your eyes off the tv.
Sound: the sounds was ok, everything that is needed in the game is all there, im not to aware of sounds or i just dont remeber it but with my surround sound on it sounds good either way.
Suggestions: Ok Atari why do you back up some many awful games and you Developers of Tantalus take more time with your game, this game seemed to rushed, you are in luck im not taking this game back, for some reasion this game has something, it has something that wants me to keep coming back to finish, and in the online mode i keep wanting to come back to the team based gameplay which isnt the same everytime its played. This game is not close to perfect though, given in mind that Halo has set a standard and it seems hard to come to level with i dont demand much like some people on this site. although i do think the enemy characters do need more of a polishing to look 3d and get more maps and different online modes and i would be happy, i wont buy part 3 though, ehh only if it gets a major face lift and maybe some botox.

Overall: This game has a lot of potential, but is really mediocre at best. Sort of a cross between Unreal Tournament, Starcraft and Wolfenstein, you get the gory ass-kicking of Unreal, the objective- and resource-based strategy of Starcraft, and the class-based skills and abilities of Wolfenstein. While it may seem appealing, the game has its fair share of glitches and the online component lags excessively. You also have the ability to use vehicles in the online mode, similar to Halo. But you really can't compare the two - this isn't even close to being on par with Halo.
Gameplay: To be honest, I haven't tried the story mode, although I've read that some people found it pretty good. I was really interested in the online mode, and while frustrating (because of glitches/lag), it is strangely addictive. You can play online with up to 12 players. There are three different classes, all with different abilities and skills that complement one another. Rangers serve as assasin/medics - they have light armor, a sniper rifle and pistol, and can heal teammates. Techs are middle of the road, both in weapons and armor. They can "hack" (gain posession of for their team) spawn points, energy generators (to power additional abilities and vehicles), and doors much faster than the other two classes. They can also set up automated cannon and rocket turrets, and repair the shields of teammates. The Gunner is just what he sounds like - he kicks ass. He has a rocket launcher and a flamethrower. He can also drop ammo packs. Controls are fairly intuitive. The online component allows for up to 12 players, but the system really only seems to be able to handle 8 most of the time. I don't care, though - I always play 12 max because even though 12 max isn't that many, 8 max sucks worse. Is a lot of fun when things are running smoothly and you have a good team. Rating is low because of excessive glitches, lag, and generally being an unpolished product (VERY frustrating).
Graphics: OK. Sometimes I find myself thinking it is much better than the last game, but not often. In terms of graphics, there is really nothing spectacular here. It gets the job done, though.
Sound: Again, OK. Maybe I missed out by not playing single-player mode. But online doesn't have anything in the way of sound that's too special. Laser beams, rockets, explosions, autocannons, etc.
Suggestions: I just wish developers would quit publishing unfinished games. This game could've been really good if they took more time to work out glitches, reduce lag, add more players to Live mode, polished the graphics, etc. I realize there are budgets and deadlines to meet, but all you really end up doing in the long run is destroying your brand image and wasting a lot of kids' money. I rented this game and I'm glad I did - while fun, it's just not of the caliber I expect from a game running on a system like Xbox. Especially since other games (Halo, Crimson Skies, Splinter Cell, etc.) have proven many times over that they can do better. Halo2 missed (several?) ship dates already, but I consider that a good sign - they are putting time and care into their product. I'm pretty sure I'd give any future Bungie product the benefit of the doubt, just because of the reputation they've managed to build. After making the mistake of buying the first Unreal for Xbox, this one became an automatic rental. Quit screwing around - make us a real game we can enjoy (or finish this one).

Overall: This is a great game for FPS fans. If you liked Halo (which I'm sure all of you did) you will love this. It has a great single player game and a fantastic online mode. I'm hooked on this game on Xbox LIve. It takes a littl while to get used to, but then you will love it! And it's a bargain at $40.00. If you don't have Live than I suggest that you rent this instead of buying it seeing as you can beat the single player game in a week-end. But, if you have Live you'll be hooked. So go get this greaat game!
Gameplay: You are a marine and your ship gets an urgent distress call from some humans on a planet asking for help. You go to investigate and..... The game has a great story. The aliens are cool to kill. The weapons are awesome. You have your standard assault rifle, pistle, sniper, shotgun, a kickin' flamthrower, and a grenade launcher that shoots out like 4 different types of grenades. There are some other weapons that I can't think of. You can play the single-player game with a friend. The game really shines on Xbox Live. Right now there is only one game mode. It's called XMP and its great. Its like capture the flag with alot more strategy. There are 2 teams each with a base. You can choose between 3 classes: gunner, ranger, and tech. Rangers have a sniper and some other weapons, gunners have a flamethrower and other heavy weapons and tech have an assault rifle and a few others. There are generators and deploy points (spawn points) throughout the levels that you have to take control of by "hacking into them". The more generators you have the more energy you have to use gun turrets, trip mines, and vehicles. And deploy points is self-explanatory. Each team has 2 artifacts in their base. The objective is to get the other teams artifacts before the time runs out and you win. There are some cool vehicles too. Unfortunately right now there are only 4 maps but more will be released in downloadable content and I'm sure new game modes will be released to. One downside is the load times are extremely long.
Graphics: Graphics are ok they do the game fine. They could be alot better.
Sound: Everything sounds fine, nothing wrong here. Voice acting is good.
Suggestions: Make Unreal 3 with a longer single player, quick load times, easier vehicle controls, and better graphics, and you will have an even better game than this!
