Take-Two Picks Up Amped Team
During its earnings conference call on Thursday, Take-Two revealed that it acquired Microsoft's Salt Lake City-based developer Indie Built, creators of the Amped and Links Xbox sports franchises. Take-Two's acquisition of the studio effectively closes Microsoft Game Studio's sports development force, a movement which began in August when Microsoft laid off 76 employees from its sports team. A Take-Two representative confirmed that the transaction took place during the September-October period, and that there were no layoffs involved in the transfer. The Indie Built team is now part of Take-Two, not specifically tied to either the Global Star or Rockstar brands, and will continue to operate from its Salt Lake City office. Take-Two is not revealing further details, such as what titles the team might develop for its new company, or for exactly which platforms. We'll be back as soon as we have more details, however. Stay tuned.Source: http://xbox.ign.com
