Halo Tournament Coming To Nashville

Nashville Tn. (PRWEB) Monday, June 16, 2004– The Nashville metropolitan vicinity will be the first of three National Microsoft Xbox Halo tournament put together by Associates of Gaming Professionals (AGP). Following Nashville will be Chicago, and then onto Alexandria Va. Microsoft Xbox tournaments are currently being held across the country with large numbers of participants competing for cash prizes as high as $10,000. The AGP of Nashville, TN, will be organizing the tournament and The Digital Realm, a local Virginian business, will be the title sponsor. AGP Nashville, the name of the fifth tournament run by Jay Umboh, Commissioner of the AGP, will be held at the Sheraton Nashville on the weekend of August 28 and 29, 2004. This news was released by Jack L. Swayze, CEO of The Digital Realm, Inc. (TDR), a new gaming facility opening soon in the Northern Virginia area. Microsoft Xbox console games sales are in the millions every year. The lure of competition and impressive graphics have drawn gamers into a loosely organized group of competitors and the informal nature of tournaments held presently shows a great interest in the gaming community. Gamers love competition and Microsoft then provided an online service enabling gamers to play against each other in their chosen field. Computer geeks at heart, they still enjoy the competitive edge in fields they would never be able to be involved in in real life. Halo tournaments, the next step in the development, allow gamers to compete against each in a “live” environment and obtain recognition within the gaming community. The Associates of Gaming Professionals is the premiere professional video gaming league that strives to elevate professional console gaming in the United States. Hotel ballrooms are used as venues and have held the largest Halo team events, pulling in the best Halo players nationwide and have given out more prize money for Halo/Xbox than anyone in the country. The last event pulled in 76, four man teams from over 30 different states paying out $11,000 cash plus products from sponsors. Console tournaments are the natural progression of the gaming revolution with companies such as AGP and TDR leading the advancement of console gaming to a professional level. The Sheraton Nashville offers the grandeur deserving of tournaments of this caliber. AGP Nashville will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors but will far out perform them.
