A Deathrow Interview
Those cool cats over at HomeLan have posted an interview that they had with with SouthEnds CEO Anders Jeppsson, who talked about his new title coming out for the Xbox, Deathrow. Heres a clip:HomeLAN - How did the idea for Deathrow come about? Anders Jeppsson - Daniel Jeppsson, the lead programmer at SouthEnd came up with the basic concept. We were looking for a "new" genre or at least a new fresh way to experience an older popular genre. Daniel proposed taking a team based sport and combining it with the popular FPS genre and adding a healthy dose of close combat fighting. We were tired of inflicting pain from a distance and we didnt just want to rehash the same old game play so his idea was basically a mix of games like Unreal Tournament, Speedball 2 and Tekken 3. During the next three years we continued to develop the game concept as well as our proprietary 3D engine and graphics. Because we have been able to spend so much time on one project we have been able to really tweak the game play, and we feel we have something really exciting to offer the gamers.
