Hunter: The Reckoning
Overall: I had been watching for this game to come out for a couple of months. Having heard some bad reviews of Silent Hill I decided I would wait for this Hack and Slash game to get my kicks killing undead.
Now that I have played this game for hours on end - I must say that overall this game kicks A$$! It is a MUST have for any player old enough to handle the adult theme of this game.
GO GET IT NOW!
Gameplay: Everything seems to be working fine on this game. With the not so occassional problem of getting in a position where I can't see my character that is.
The controls are just where they should be. This game is not easy either! In fact - the more people you have playing the harder it gets! Sometimes it seems that the bosses are almost insanely tough to beat but maybe that's a good thing? Also the easiest way to beat all of the bosses is to just run and shoot from a distance - not too many tactics there ;)
Overall I love this game as does every friend of mine that's seen it.
Graphics: The visuals in this game are AMAZING! Hunter: The Reckoning takes full advantage of the X-Box's amazing power. The beginning vid and the cut scenes aren't that great but I didn't buy this game for those features either! The only thing I really don't like is the Camera shot. I can and will live with it but sometimes you lose track of your character because of the positioning of the camera.
Audio: The soundtrack is just AWESOME. It's not overly annoying like some other games out there. It's sparse music cuts and creepy benign sounds in the background are just fantastic! I can not wait until 'Halo'ween to just let it sit in the background and listen to the sounds over the in home theater. Should spook just about all the kids away from my house!
Suggestions: More camera angle's would be more than welcome! Also could you add GRENADES in the sequel it would make killing those freaking rats a little easier!
More costumes and edges ;)
Did I say GRENADES yet? If I didn't then GIVE US GRENADES!!!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Star Wars: Starfighter - Special Edition
Overall: Can you say NIGHTMARE? I always rent a game that I would be interested in before buying it. So I rented Star Wars: Starfighter - Special Edition from Blockbuster when I had an entire weekend alone with my X-Box thinking that jeeze - it is a Star Wars game it should be good.
You can't imagine how shocked I was when I tossed this drink coaster in and fired it up! Absolutely horrible EVERYTHING! Read below for more on why to NOT buy this game...
Gameplay: Disgusting - sick - horrible... I would use some better descriptive words here but the fine folks running this service would probably delete this review.
The controls were the worst since trying to figure out how to fly in Privateer 2 on the PC. At least that game had a plot and took me somewhere! This game lacks in every way - story - plot - controls - graphics - coding - and more!
Graphics: I cant describe the dissapointment I had when I first popped the game in. I was expecting stellar graphics and got old PS1 graphics! Did they even bother to try and use the X-Box's graphics capabilities? Or was this just a BAD game overall?
I would have to say it's just a bad game overall.
Audio: After playing around with the settings for a while I was finally able to get my CD to play some old Metallica - Ride the Lightning - while I muted the Television set. That's what saved me from just throwing this game in the trash - that and owing Blockbuster $50 for a game hehe
Suggestions: Give the rights to a different company (who did Simpson's Road Rage?) and let them see if they can do any better.
Overall Score: 2.0 / 10 Halo: Combat Evolved
Overall: I have been playing this game by myself and with friends at least 5 days a week for 2 months now and we are NO WHERE NEAR being bored with it yet.
In fact my friend is buying an X-Box soon and this will be the first game he buys with it - he likes it that much!
The Story is SOLID - the gameplay is SOLID - the sound is SOLID - the graphics are stunning - and finally the coding is SOLID. I can't say anything more about a game than that.
Gameplay: Plentiful weapons, enemies, and missions in the standard play. Only once did we find ourselves a little annoyed and that was the last episode which SHOULD be hard.
The player vs player games are so much fun that we have a never ending pool of friends that want to come over and play - ANYTIME. You can use this game to make friends!!!
Graphics: Stunning graphics everywhere you look! Graphics like you have never seen before. They are always fluid and I don't ever remember seeing any glitches.
There were many scenes where we exited and reloaded just to see them again in stunning detail!
Definately EYE CANDY!
Audio: Great sounds! Nothing too offensive but just the right amount of raminess. The music score is something you would expect in some major movies now adays. Throw it on the surround sound system and you will think you are actually there with The Flood!
Amazing!
Suggestions: The only suggestion I would have made for this game is that they allow more use of different vehicles throughout the game and that EVERY vehicle be allowed in player vs player mode.
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
