Knockout Kings 2002
Overall: Best Boxing Game I've Ever Played Period. Graphics are unbelievable, interface is user friendly and the punches are extremely realistic. Great game to play with multiple people and game you won't grow tired of quickly...(Well, at least until the 2003 version comes out)
Gameplay: Overall I'd rank the gameplay as "pretty good". The offensive moves are fine, but getting down the defense can be tricky, learning how to move, when to move and when to block can take some time... Im 10 hours in and still can't get the exact hang of it. The offensive controls sort of make up for it though
Graphics: Stunning - boxer detail is solid - ring detail is perfect. Nothing is better than landing a knock down shot and watching the replay as your opponents face cringes from your mighty body blow... Kind of hard to top this, these are some of the best graphics yet for the X.
Audio: The sound effects are great, realistic sounding, well timed and fit the game well. The ref comments are cool, however the ringside commentators kind of suck - they get repetitive rather quickly and don't seem to be dead on with their comments (just like real announcers). Im not too fond of the soundtrack for the game either, while some of the hip hop is solid, much of it sounds like the developer asked his aspiring rapper next door neighbor to produce some of the tracks. This is a case where utilizing the X's CD ripping powers would have much improved the overall feel of the sound...
Suggestions: Maybe try and make defense a little easier in the 2003 version... Also don't be afraid to utilize the CD ripping music features of the X, this would have greatly improved your game.
