Mass Effect 2 locked in at 30 fps
When Mass Effect was released in 2007, it was known as much for its problematic framerates and lengthy load times as its quality gameplay. According to associate producer Jesse Houston though, that won’t be an issue in the sequel.
"If you look at most good shooters, they lock down frame-rate at 30 FPS. We’ve done the same thing. Bam. Everything’s 30 FPS, streaming is fixed up," he told Videogaming247.
"If you remember in Mass 1, if you took a step backwards and you hit a weird stream and it’d pause for a moment. We’ve done away with that. What you’re seeing here is pulled straight from the game."
No more "weird streams." Check. Mass Effect 2 will be arriving on the Xbox 360 and PC in early 2010.
