Fallout 3 Ships 4.7M
The shipments were made in about a weeks worth of time. A rep told Edge specific platform sales were not available at the current time.
By comparison, it took Bethesdas last epic RPG, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, about three weeks to ship just 1.7 million copies when it launched in March 2006 on only two platforms, Xbox 360 and PC (it later came to PS3).
A considerably larger console install base, focused marketing and plenty of hype amongst gamers and media helped push the game past Oblivion
Fallout 3 landed in North American stores on October 28 and a couple days later in PAL territories.
The post-apocalyptic RPG is set in Washington D.C., now reduced to a wasteland following a nuclear war that drove humans into underground vaults.
