E3 2008: Something’s Brewing at Bungie
Many attendees at the Microsoft E3 press conference expected an appearance by Bungie Studios, which has been tantalizing fans with mysterious references to an upcoming announcement. Members of the studio were in attendance at the event, but they were noticeably absent from the stage.But that doesn’t mean the studio responsible for the Halo franchise will be keeping quiet during E3. A message on the company’s official Web site, www.bungie.net, shows a static blue background notifying visitors to remain calm and that service will resume shortly. A red banner in the center of the page alternate with the messages: Final Notice: Bill Past Due, Pardon Our Dust, Proceed With Caution, Emergency Lights Active and Obey Posted Limits. In the lower right corner is a counter ticking down from (at this writing) 1:17:25:45. We reckon that would reach 0 on Wednesday at 7:07 a.m., and we know how fond the Bungie lads are of the number 7.
Clicking the words "Statistical Processing Continues" below the counter takes you back to the main Bungie site featuring the usual Halo content. We’re not sure what the developer has up its sleeve, but we’ll keep you posted as E3 unfolds.
