EA Announces Fight Night Round 4
Fight Night Round 4 will be the first time that Tyson has appeared in a videogame for several years. In 2002, he appeared in the abysmally-reviewed Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing for PS2, but is more famous for Mike Tysons Punch-Out on NES during his glory days.Needless to say, appearing in the Fight Night franchise is quite a step up for the shamed boxer.
Fight Night used to be a well-regarded staple of EA Chicago, but after that studio was shuttered last year, EA has handed development duties over to EA Canada.
The studio will be adding some of historys best boxers into the mix in the form of Tyson and Ali as playable characters, time periods be damned.
EA said this version of Fight Night will be the most realistic yet, thanks in part to a new physics-based animation system that "allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting," according to EA. No word on ear-biting yet.
The game is slated to ship to retailers in 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
