GTA IV Release Date Up in the Air
Speaking at yesterday’s BMO Capital Markets conference, Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick has stated that it won’t commit to any date or time period for the release of next-gen title Grand Theft Auto IV, Gamesindustry reports. It was announced in August that the title would miss its initial October ’07 release date, and would instead be released at some stage in the company’s 2008 Q1 – between February and April. However, the publisher now says that no firm release can be confirmed. “Were going to give a firm date when we are utterly convinced that we have it and that isnt right now,” Zelnick stated. “We know its highly anticipated. Right now our view is to put out a high quality title and were not in the business of disappointing investors." And when questioned if missing the Christmas period would harm the title’s prospects, he added: "I think there was a concern initially when we slipped that we missed the boat in terms of Christmas but I think that concern has been alleviated. "I think most people see it as okay. Hardware penetration is going to grow over Christmas and because this is a must-have title its probably okay that were not selling it in the Christmas season," he said.Source: http://www.mcvuk.com
