No Resident Evil 5 until ‘08
Ever since revealing the fifth game almost two years ago, Capcom has been very tight-lipped over the series' first appearance on next-gen hardware. However, the company's latest financial results have revealed some info regarding the title's release date. "In order to make Capcom more competitive, we will focus on further strengthening development of our core home video games business, marketing efforts and sales efforts. We plan to create a title portfolio that accurately reflects the global market share, as well as strengthen our R&D organization and staff. Our title lineup includes many new titles in our existing franchises over the next period, including 'Resident Evil 5'," said Capcom president and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto. This tells us that Capcom intends to release the game before the end of its next fiscal year - ending March 31, 2008. However, Capcom's financial presentation, which detailed fiscal 2007 releases, did not list Resident Evil 5. Games listed were Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil Wii Edition, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Devil Kings 2 Heroes and new titles in the Mega Man series. Game Life blog has added more fuel to the confusion, taking a look at the original Japanese version of what Capcom's CEO said. The blog highlights the importance of the words 'raiki ikou'. 'Raiki' in this case, is said to mean 'the next [fiscal reporting] period'. However, the word 'ikou' means 'thereafter,' or 'from this point forward'. This means Tsujimoto could be saying the game is coming out at some time in the future. Capcom Europe has been unable to offer any official comment, so we'll just have to wait and see.Source: http://www.pro-g.co.uk
