Ubisoft Announces Surf’s Up For Xbox 360
Prepare yourself for a tidal wave of surfing puns over the next few months as Ubisoft announced today it had secured the rights to create a game based on the Sony Pictures animated film Surf’s Up. While the film catches the big wave on June 8, the videogame arrives two weeks earlier on May 22. "Ubisoft has the creative and technological abilities to develop a cutting-edge arcade surfing game based on Sony Pictures Animation’s new film, Surf’s Up," said Mark Caplan, Vice President, Interactive at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. "Sony’s partnership with Ubisoft has helped to expand our properties by creating fun interactive experiences beyond the movies while maintaining the creativity and artistic beauty of the films." "Ubisoft is excited to be developing an innovative, first-class surfing game based on all the cool characters from the Surf’s Up movie. With its compelling storyline, sports dynamic and humor, the movie lends itself extremely well as a video game experience," said Tony Key, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft. Set during the annual Reggie Belafonte Big Z Memorial Surf Off, Surf’s Up offers ten playable characters from the upcoming feature film. As players compete to win the championship in this arcade surfing title, they’ll experience the stellar waves around Pen Gu Island. Surf’s Up features the voice talent from the movie.
