Massive Mass Effect Fits On One Disc
"There was a time - not too long ago," says BioWare Project Director Casey Hudson, "when we pretty much scoffed at the idea of fitting [Mass Effect] onto one disc." But according to the games IGN blog, Hudson reports that the games programmers have "just barely" managed to make it so that their monstrous game will not require any amount of annoying disc-swapping. So apart from the games stunning visuals, what else will contribute to this game testing the limits of its storage medium? Customizability, says Hudson. He claims that, in this game, you can customize the games protagonist in quite a few more ways than you could with Knights of the Old Republic. In Mass Effect, youll be able to control such character elements as gender, face, hair, job class, and starting skills. Furthermore, Hudson also claims that youll be able to "buy or find mods that can be used to enhance your weapons and equipment." And lastly, Hudson touched on the feature that will allow users to customize the games soundtrack. While he understands that most game developers dont like the idea of gamers fiddling with their "carefully crafted audio experience", he doesnt mind supporting the feature. But given the games "huge original score", he doesnt believe that many gamers will actually take advantage of the option.Source: http://www.gamepro.com
