Dreamcatcher Delays Painkiller For Xbox...Again
Having been released during Easter 2004 on PC, Dreamcatcher announced last year that an Xbox port of the game and its expansion pack Battle out of Hell would be launched in November 2005. However, it was later delayed till March 2006 before being put back for a second time. Today, Dreamcatcher confirmed that Painkiller: Hell Wars is to be delayed again for an undisclosed time in order to, "...ensure that the game meets the high standards of its predecessor." "We want to ensure that all of the best features from the PC version are fully integrated into Painkiller: Hell Wars and that the Painkiller experience on Xbox exceeds our customers high expectations for this successful brand," said Byron Gaum, Global Product Marketing Manager at DreamCatcher Games. "Too often, titles are rushed to market that fall short. DreamCatcher is committed to making Painkiller: Hell Wars a must-have title for the Xbox, and quite possibly the last great shooter on the Xbox platform." "With millions of gamers still playing on first generation Xboxes, and the market ripe for a new top-notch shooter, we want to deliver the very best game possible and surpass the legacy of the original, award-winning PC version of Painkiller," said Marshall Zwicker, Vice President of Marketing at DreamCatcher Games. "We know when Painkiller: Hell Wars is released later this year it will live up to the hype, and offer an absolutely unforgettable gaming experience." Todays news will undoubtedly worry Dreamcatcher; with third-party support of the first-generation Xbox rapidly falling as more developers/publishers (and gamers for that matter) turn towards the next-gen consoles, and the game likely to be released at least two and half years after the original PC version launched, will Painkiller: Hell Wars even register when it finally hit stores?Source: http://www.totalvideogames.com/
