EA Offering Black And Godfather For Under Forty
Electronic Arts is offering budget-friendly debut prices on several high-profile titles in response to slow sales across the industry, according to a Reuters report today. Both first-person shooter BLACK and franchise tie-in The Godfather will arrive for a suggested $39.95, a 20 percent discount from standard debut prices. EAs Fight Night Round 3, which shipped today, also debuted at $39.95. The new discounts come shortly after EA similarly cut prices on several established hits -- including Need for Speed Most Wanted and Madden NFL 06. As the game industry struggles though a transition to new consoles, consumers are slowing down their game purchases seemingly in preparation for an expensive PlayStation 3 or still-elusive Xbox 360. "$39 is resonating with consumers given the transition," EAs Jeff Brown told Reuters. "There are indications that $39 is a solid and sustainable price point." EA is still charging premium prices for next-generation software: most Xbox 360 titles sell for $59.95.Source: http://www.ign.com/
