Ubisoft Has Great Q1 Sales
Ubisoft Reports Healthy Q1 Sales Ubisoft announced first quarter financials on Thursday, reporting net sales of €43 million ($54.2 million) for the quarter ended June 30, 2005. The companys performance meets its target for financial 2005/2006 so far. First-quarter sales were boosted by the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which together sold 565,000 units in two months. The company also announced it will show a capital gain of $euro;12.2 million ($15.4 million), thanks to sale of 5,155,000 Gameloft shares. Ubisoft now holds 19.9 percent of the mobile game companys shares, compared with 28.69 percent on March 31, 2005. As a development force, Ubisoft is growing along with its sales figures. The company, headquartered in France, added 170 employees across all its studios in the first quarter, including 45 employees recruited to Ubisofts new Quebec office. The company maintains its objective to add 600 new employees during this fiscal year. The company is also increasing its full-year financial goal to a net income of €38 million ($47.9 million). Moving into its second quarter, which covers July through September, Ubisofts will release high-profile titles such as Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Lockdown (PS2, Xbox, GameCube), Far Cry Instincts (Xbox), Americas Army: Rise of a Soldier (PS2, Xbox), and Myst V: End of Ages (PC). Ubisoft clarified that racing title 187 Ride or Die is scheduled for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and not additionally for PC as previously expected.Source: http://www.ign.com
