Sims 2 Coming to Xbox
Sims 2 Announced for Consoles, Handhelds, and Mobile (PS2) This week EA announced that The Sims 2 is under development for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PSP, Nintendo DS, and even GameBoy Advance and mobile phones. Expansion of the franchise into the console space wasnt unexpected (EA had already been enjoying some success with such titles as Sims Bustin Out and Urbz), but its interesting to note what gameplay elements are being carried over to the new platforms. For instance, Sims 2 added concepts of "wants" (aspirations) and "fears" to the Sims universe, making it more goal-oriented -- naturally this is carrying over to the console versions. EA also promises that the new versions will be more flexible than any of the console titles before: the press release states that the new games "will include a completely new aspiration gameplay and new fully customizable content giving players the most authentic Sims experience ever on a console." The press release also hints at a new feature, where you can step into the shoes of a Sim and control him or her directly instead of scrolling around and selecting people with the cursor. This should make the game way more visceral for players sitting on their couches. The console versions will ship in the Fall of this year.Source: http://www.gamespy.com
