ESPN MLB 2K5 Gets Bargain Price
MLB 2K5 Gets Bargain Price? February 7, 2005 - In the flurry of activity around (what was) the ESPN series of sports games, involving studios bought, licensing lost and licensing gained -- drama to match any given fifteen minutes of The OC -- it looks like one thing won't be lost: the series' bargain price. Retailers like EB Games, WalMart.com, and GameStop show MLB 2K5 priced just cents below $20, consistent with other recent titles from Visual Concepts. The tasty bargain pricing, which began last year with ESPN NFL 2K5, helped boost sales of the series to the point where EA worried enough to drop prices in turn. The sudden sharp competition may well have been what sparked the NFL, MBA, and ESPN drama of late. How solid are MLB 2K5's low prices? "We have made no official announcement at this time regarding pricing," said a spokesperson for Take-Two, which now publishes the Visual Concepts series under its own 2K Games label. Even without an official announcement, there's little reason to doubt that the next Major League Baseball title will arrive at the cool $20 range, as the pricing has worked well for Take-Two so far. We'll be back with more as it comes in.Source: http://www.ign.com
