Gremlins At Bungie???
With all the speculation surrounding the recent reset of player statistics within Rumble Pit, TVG today discovered that the gremlins must be at work at Bungie as problems have sporadically arisen when attempting to view statistics on Bungie.net. Mystified Halo fans were reportedly greeted with the following message when attempting to view their stats, although thankfully normal service appears to be back in place: "Halo 2 Xbox Live game statistics are not currently available to you or your mom. We hope to have them available soon." Along with this, Bungie updated the Halo 2 Stats Failure and stated: “Over the last few days, Halo 2 stats have been slow and missing information occasionally. A bunch of bad things happened at the same time to cause this, but the good news is that most is repaired. However, there is a lingering issue with the RSS stat feed, so we have turned that off until we can nail down that problem. We apologize for the downtime, but the RSS feed has suddenly started crushing our web services servers. Were looking into the problem, and it should be up again soon.” In addition, Bungie’s regular weekly column has talked in-depth about the subject of network issues and more importantly the subject of cheaters that TVG previously talked about. Commenting on the subject, Bungie claimed: “Well, lets preface this answer by explaining that we hate cheaters and have a duty to respond to cheating and exploits on Halo 2. We ARE doing everything in our power to investigate, alleviate and remove the problems, but they are many and varied.” Sadly it seems as though there’s very little Bungie can do beyond addressing software glitches such as flags passing through walls, with the hope that cheating on Halo 2 will “decrease with the lifespan of the product” – so hopefully the cheats will stop by the release of Halo 3 then.Source: http://www.totalvideogames.com
