Yourself!Fitness Now Available
Today marks a milestone in fitness media, the very first interactive video personal trainer is now available as a computer game. Ironically, the very same medium that has contributed to the obesity problem among kids and young adults very well help solve the problem. The game is called "Yourself!Fitness" and it features a computer animated personal coach named "Maya" who helps women to created tailored fitness and meal routines. It currently runs on the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and was created by Respondesign, a game developer in Portland Oregon. To date, at home video instruction has been in the form of TV programs, videos and DVDs. However, these are all one dimensional. The computer game medium allows the program to be highly interactive. The memory in the Xbox can store massive amounts of data for tailored routines and saving completed exercise routines. With Yourself!Fitness, players must reach certain goals to reach the next level. The program creates a fitness plan for each person based on height, weight, and other characteristics. The virtual coach guides users through a subset of 600 possible exercises.
