Psi-Ops The Movie?
Apparently not sated by planned adaptations of Far Cry, Doom 3, Metroid Prime, and Rainbow Six, Hollywood is continuing to scoop up the film rights to games. Today, Variety reported that Adrian Askarieh and Chuck Gordon, producers of the upcoming Spy Hunter movie, have purchased the rights to another Midway Games title. This time, the game is Psi-Ops, which was released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in June. Like the game, Psi-Ops the movie will follow Nick Scryer, a secret agent sent to infiltrate a shadowy psychic terrorist organization. In order to evade their mind-reading abilities, Scyers memory is wiped and his psychic abilities temporarily deactivated. However, as events progressed, Scyer recovers his memory and powers, which include telekinesis, remote viewing, mind control, energy drain, and mind control, amongst others. "Ive always been interested in the whole idea of psionic powers that have been developed by the government, even though theyve been very close-mouthed about admitting they conducted those kind of experiments," Askarieh told Variety. No director or studio is yet attached to the project, though Askarieh and Gordon are based at Universal Pictures.Source: http://www.gamespot.com
