Logitech NASCAR Racing Wheel
After Logitech announced its new Xbox, PS2 and PC steering wheel at E3 this year, the company has been silent on its upcoming NASCAR branded peripheral. Officially named the Logitech NASCAR Racing Wheel, the entry-level steering wheel will sell for an MSRP of $59.99 for the Xbox, and $49.99 for PS2 and PC. Because Microsofts memory card slot (a.k.a. the modular expansion slot) is built into the Xbox controller instead of the system itself, Logitechs Xbox wheel in turn has a built-in memory card slot, which explains the additional $10 cost. (Well need to explain to Logitech in the future that nobody uses those "memory card" things on Xbox.) Logitech refrained from pinning down an exact date, but the NASCAR Racing Wheel is expected to hit retail stores for all three systems before Thanksgiving, November 25, 2004. The steering wheel will work with any game, and Logitech is, as always, working with development companies for enhanced compatibility. Some of the specs include: adjustable wheel sensitivity; Dpad, XY and AB buttons; and paddle shifters located on the wheel in the 3 and 9 oclock positions. Primarily designed for the living room, the wheel base offers extendable wings and suction cups instead of clamps. Weighing in at about 3-4 pounds, its also lighter than other wheels. It does not include a stick shift. Logitech has partnered with NASCAR for branding purposes. That means youll see NASCAR imagery on the wheel, but it wont mean Dale Earnhardt, Jr. or any other driver or car will appear on the package.Source: http://www.ign.com
