Neversoft Preparing For Xbox Next
June 02, 2004 - Neversoft, developer of the lauded Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, today updated it Website with a job posting for an "Xbox2 Console Engine Programmer." The posting explains that Neversoft is seeking a programmer to help port the Neversoft Engine to the next-generation Xbox system, confirming that the home of Tony Hawk is gearing up for at least one of the next wave of consoles. While specific titles are not mentioned, it's fairly safe to assume that the Tony Hawk franchise will appear in some form on the new Xbox system. Interestingly, there is no mention so far of development for the PlayStation 3 or next Nintendo home console, though we'd be surprised if the best-selling skateboarding franchise didn't make its way to almost all future platforms. The Xbox Next position comes in the wake of news we previously reported that Neversoft is splitting its development team into two halves: One to focus on development of the Tony Hawk franchise, and another to work on a "some other ideas" the company wants to bring to life. We'll keep you updated with news from Neversoft, and Xbox Next developments in general, as soon as it comes in.Source: http://www.ign.com
