Prince of Persia Sandtraps
In 1989, the original Prince of Persia set a new standard for action-adventure video games and influenced some of the most well-known games that followed. With clever level design, an unparalleled hero, challenging fighting and groundbreaking animations, the game captivated a generation of gamers. Now, Ubisofts Montreal studio has created Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a next-generation console masterpiece that completely modernizes the classic franchise and retains all the elements of the legendary original - including one of the most popular: the traps. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of time development team spent countless hours devising and designing the traps, drawing inspiration from the original and devising completely new ideas. Massive, jaw-like crashing doors are gone (they wouldnt work well in three dimensions), but the signature spikes remain. And, in the spirit of exploration and experimentation in the game (the Prince can, after all, manipulate time) the traps will cause major damage, but not sudden death. Like gameplay and story, the traps are a seamlessly integrated element of the immersive gaming experience. In Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, traps permeate the Palace. After activating the intricate defense system himself - to make sure no one gets in or out, the Prince must navigate seven varieties of traps that make his quest to recapture the Sands of Time even more perilous: Spike Trunk: Massive logs studded with spikes - usually suspended from the ceiling, they sweep along the floor and swing into the air. The Prince can avoid them by waiting until the trunk has passed and jumping over it, or running under the trunk at the end of its course Circular Saw: Jagged round blades that move horizontally or vertically along paths embedded in walls. Waiting for the right moment and making a choice walling move is the best way for the Prince to emerge unscathed Giant Jaws: A surprise trap - giant, shark-toothed logs suddenly snap together like jaws. Once again, walling moves make the best plan of attack. Horizontal Blade: Two horizontal blades move along the walls - evading them with a vertical wall run offers a chance of survival Razor Pillar: Movement often activates this trap - usually an army of spiked columns crawling across the floor of a room. Using his impeccable ground moves, the Prince can find a way to dodge these behemoths Rotating Reaper: A massive blade attached to a spinning axis, triggered by the Princes proximity. To steer clear of the reaper, the Prince can either follow its rotation or quickly jump over it. And those are just a few of the traps the Prince will face Spikes: Of course, the spikes, which line the bottom of trenches or hide in pierced paving stones. To avoid those, the Prince must jump very carefully, or perhaps use his walling skills to pass over the dangerous stones Along with the other central elements of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, these traps showcase the ways in which the foundations of the franchise have been updated to amaze contemporary console gamers while retaining the core ideas that made the first Prince of Persia such an enduring classic.Source: http://www.ubisoft.com/
