Dynasty Warriors 4 Heads To Xbox

KOEI’s Award-Winning Tactical Action Game Available on Xbox September 2003 Burlingame, CA - May 30, 2003 - KOEI Corporation, respected worldwide as the innovators of the Tactical Action genre, announced today that Dynasty WarriorsT 4 is currently in development for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, and will be available at retailers throughout North America this September. "We’re going to give the Xbox community a game that is action-packed with breath-taking cinematics and awesome gameplay. And we’re definitely going to deliver on that promise. Dynasty Warriors 4 is an amazing sequel to what I’m sure will continue to be a phenomenal series with worldwide appeal. In continuing the Dynasty Warriors series on Xbox and PlayStation 2, we can guarantee the broadest audience for one of the most innovative experiences in interactive entertainment," stated Amos Ip, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at KOEI Corporation. "It is only proper that history’s mightiest warriors have their tales told on history’s most powerful video game consoles." Since its initial release in Japan for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Dynasty Warriors 4 debuted as the No.1 title across all video game consoles, and then went on to sell more than one million units in only nine days of release. To date, the Dynasty Warriors series has sold over 4.5 million units worldwide. The series’ commercial success has been matched with critical acclaim. At the 2003 Game Developers Conference, Animation Magazine honored the Dynasty Warriors series with an award for Best Overall Game Animation. In Dynasty Warriors 4, players single-handedly clash with legions of enemy soldiers and experience the excitement of fighting against impossible odds. A host of new features adds greater depth to the gameplay, as well as more insight into the characters and turbulent events of the Three Kingdoms era. Battlefield environments are more detailed, expansive, and notably more interactive. New play modes and characters are introduced. The new soundtrack blends modern music with classical Asian instruments and styles. The generals that populate the screen are rich in texture and color. The introduction of siege engines combined with the return of elephant troops adds a new level of tactical action. Based on Luo Guanzhong’s novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, This latest installment of the series takes a more open-ended approach to the narrative in order to create a more dynamic atmosphere for the gamer. In the revamped Musou Mode players now select one of the Three Kingdoms, Wu, Shu or Wei. As the game progresses, players will unlock warriors from their chosen kingdom, and can even change characters between stages. No two games will be the same. Using a multiple scenario system, new victory conditions will emerge and different events will occur as each battle unfolds. New AI allows enemy and allied units to react to actual battlefield conditions, rather than to a set pattern. With constantly changing scenarios and new, more reactive enemy and ally AI, Dynasty Warriors 4 presents the most realistic battlefield action yet.
