Knights of the Old Republic Pushed Back
In a post on the Official Knights of the Old Republic message board, Producer Mike Gallo gives some insight on the progress of SW:KOTOR and announces that the game has been pushed back until Spring '03 for the Xbox, and Summer '03 for the PC. Here's the post:Hello all. I just wanted to send a quick note to everyone that's been supporting this game for the last year or so, and give you an update on where the game is at. Things are moving along at a tremendous pace - a lot of work has been completed, but there is still a ton of work left to finish. The team at BioWare has been putting in a huge effort to bring this game out, and ever since E3 we've been reviewing the schedules and task lists in an effort to solidify our release date. This has been a pretty lengthy process, but we're confident in our new release schedule of Spring '03 for the Xbox, and Summer '03 for the PC. This is a huge game with an epic story, and we want to be able to bring that entire experience to all of the fans that have been waiting so patiently for it. In the end, taking the extra time to deliver on that promise is what's most important, and both LucasArts and BioWare are committed to that promise.Casey Hudson, Project Director/Producer on the title, followed up the previous post with this reply:
Yes, as Mike says, we've been able to put a huge amount of the work behind us on the game, building what we think will be a very special experience for Star Wars fans and RPG players alike. Now that we are entrenched in the production phase of the project and many of the unknowns have been eliminated, we are able to plan the remaining work with much greater accuracy. The current release dates will also give us enough time to give Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the richness and quality we all want it to have. We're also rapidly approaching a point when we'll have a lot of new material and information to share with you. We appreciate everyone's support in the community, and look forward to sharing more of our work with you very soon. While this news is probably a dissappointment to Star Wars fans abroad, the fact that the delay means a better game should emerge is definately a plus.
