Hitman 2 Q&A

Gamitopia has posted up an interview with Thor Frölich of IO Interactive regarding their upcoming "thinking mans" fps, Hitman 2:Silent Assassin.
Gamitopia:
Hitman: Code 47 and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin tackles mature content in terms of the gameplay. How do you reconcile the gameplay of being a trained and professional killer? I realize that you are not advocating violence by making a violent game, but how do you feel about young people playing games like the Hitman series? Would you let your little brother or sister play this game? Thor Frölich:
I do realize that we’re dealing with a very politically incorrect issue. I guess it ultimately depends on your moral disposition how you react to computer games, films, what you see on the street - everything. I’m having a hard time figuring out how violent outbursts could possibly be blamed on computer games or other media. If anything, I would say they enable you live out some adventurous fantasies, violent or otherwise, in a perfectly harmless way. The problem arises when individuals fail to discern between reality and fiction - but this applies to everything, not just computer games. This is always dangerous. Ultimately, I think it’s an issue of parental guidance - and I do not mean the governmental kind. Parents should be aware of and screen what their children are being exposed to. [Amen to that Thor!! -K]
