A Summary of April 16th, 2019 Inside Xbox

Today’s gaming news included an episode of Inside Xbox. Fans were looking forward to seeing what announcement Microsoft was to make. We got lucky and our friends at Xbox Canada, and the PR firm for the Canadian region, was kind enough to provide a summary of what fans may have missed if they could not watch the full episode.

First off, we’d like to provide you with the YouTube video of the whole show, which you can choose to watch below:

Ok, with that being done, if you don’t have time to watch the full episode, we have a summary of each major point made during the livestream, and have provided you with a link to the news on the Xbox News Wire, along with any video snippits related to each announcement.

It’s fianlly official. Microsoft introduced the newest member of the Xbox One family of devices and the first console of its kind – the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, designed for disc-free gaming and entertainment.

Next, for those looking to bundle the Xbox Services, Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan, which will include the full Xbox Game Pass library and all Xbox Live Gold benefits for the low-monthly price of $14.99 USD. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a convenient choice and provides a solution to easily manage your gaming memberships.

For those that love documentaries, esports, and Gears of War, it was announced that, in partnership with ELEAGUE, Xbox announced the ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood – a six-part event series and live tournament focused on the stories and players behind the world of Gears Esports with the first episode debuting on TBS, Friday, June 14, at 11 pm ET/PT.

Microsoft then highlighted brand-new, feedback-driven features coming to Game bar, from Spotify integration to improved social experiences that enable you to see what your friends are playing, quickly text or voice chat, create memes to share via Twitter, and our newly announced Looking for Group (LFG) feature which enables you to quickly and easily find people to bring into battle with you. Check out the video below for more:

Of course Backwards Compatible games were announced too. Ninja Gaiden 2 is now Backward Compatible for Xbox One, and that it’s joined by Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, Fable 2, and Fable 3 in getting enhanced for Xbox One X.

Details were also announced regarding some of what to expect at the 2019 incarnation of Fanfest. Here is a teaser video highlighting how important FanFest is for Xbox and Microsoft:

And finally to close out today’s show, Inside Xbox had a special guest appearance by Phil Spencer. During his segment, he talked Project xCloud and how we at Xbox put the gamer at the center of how we build our strategy and services, driven by the idea that as a gamer you should be able to play the games you want to play, on the devices you want to play them on with your friends, anywhere you go.  Spencer also talked about his excitement to be representing the broader gaming community at E3 2019. Xbox recently announced plans for their biggest presence ever, including Xbox E3 FanFest, and the diversity of the content across Xbox and PC that they will be highlighting in the briefing from both Xbox Game Studios and third-party partners from around the world.

Phew, we may have missed an item or two, but hey, there was a lot to sum up. We hope you appreciated the summary and links that we able to provide courtesy of Microsoft Canada and their PR firm.
