Announcements from Halo Summer Celebratoin
So, with 343 Industries celebrating everything that is Halo, a few new, and somewhat surprising announcements were made to wet the appetites of those Halo fans out there.
First off, they announced four more very special additions coming later this year to the backwards compatible program: Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: CE Anniversary! Each of these games will support campaign, multiplayer and LAN play on Xbox One – including LAN play between Xbox One and Xbox 360. Once these titles are added to the program, you’ll be able to pop in your original disc or purchase a digital copy of the game via the Xbox Store and jump right in. Additionally, every Xbox 360 Halo add-on map pack in the Xbox Store will be made available for free, ensuring fans have everything they need to achieve maximum enjoyment in online matchmaking or custom games.
Next up, Halo 5: Guardians will receive a game update to support true 4K with the release of Xbox One X later this year. 343i will have more to share on this front as they get closer to release.
Switching it up some, 343i talked about Halo Wars 2. Once the Season Pass wraps up in August, they said that fans will want to set their sights on this Fall’s new premium expansion, “Awakening the Nightmare,” which includes a new campaign from the perspective of The Banished, the return of an ancient and deadly foe in the Flood, two new Banished Leaders, and a brand-new multiplayer game mode “Terminus Firefight.”
Of course what would Halo be with out more Halo collectibles? Seems that there’s a lot to look forward to this summer! From the newest Halo Crate to novels to comics and action figures, licenced partners are bringing a red-hot array of Halo goodness to stores.
Finally, in the coming months, the 343 Industries team will be hitting the road for a handful events and opportunities to meet, mingle, and celebrate Halo with the community. Upcoming events include RTX Austin 2017, HCS Summer Finals at DreamHack Atlanta, ChinaJoy and gamescom.
