Wolfenstein The New Order is getting some Old Blood
Bethesda Softworks and developer MachineGames will release Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a prequel to last years outstanding Wolfenstein: The New Order, this May. The stand-alone game will be set in the months leading up to The New Order, as protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz returns to Castle Wolfenstein and contends with ancient mystical powers that could fall into Nazi hands.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is set in early 1946. Blazkowicz will embark on a two-part mission in the game. The first is titled "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves" and sees B.J. battle "a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathsheads compound." The second part is titled "The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs" and sends our hero to Wulfburg, where he meets "an obsessed Nazi archaeologist [who] is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power."
The new Wolfenstein will feature new environments, new enemies and new weapons, some of which you can see in the games debut trailer above.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a downloadable game that wont require a copy of The New Order to play. Its priced at $19.99 and will be released May 5. The stand-alone game is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Unlike The New Order, it appears that The Old Blood wont be coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Bethesda says to expect more on Wolfenstein: The Old Blood later this week. Additional gameplay will be revealed at PAX East at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7 on Twitch.
