Warface Enters Open Beta Today
From Xbox Lives Major Nelson:
Last month, Crytek’s Warface opened up a limited beta. As of today, the Warface beta is open for all Xbox Live Gold subscribers as a free download.
The Open Beta will carry over three Versus modes from Closed Beta that feature several maps, plus two initial Co-op settings with multiple mission types and difficulties. There will be a constant flow of new content, settings and modes that will keep the players entertained and wanting more. Furthermore, daily new missions built for beginners and experts alike ensure that Warface remains challenging and fun.
As we know many of you out there will now be trying out Warface for the first time, we asked Crytek for some tips to help new players hold their own against those who have been playing in the Closed Beta:
In Versus games it’s important to be fast and make maximum use of your chosen class’ abilities. For example, an Engineer can set deadly traps with claymores, and a Medic can last a long time when keeping their health and damage ratio in check.
As for Co-op, it highly depends on the map and the difficulty on which you play; it’s more about each player’s individual skill set that should match with the overall tactics of the team, but being in constant communication with the team, and being reactive to the needs of the mission is critical.
What advice can you offer for class selection?
A well-balanced team can make all the difference in the world: Medics are great for keeping the other members alive, Riflemen can push through large groups of enemies and keep a steady supply of ammo going, Engineers provide the team with the ability to set traps and restore armor which absorb the brunt of incoming fire, and Snipers can take care of enemies who are far away or in high ground.
Aside from team balance, a correlation in gameplay style is also important; you can’t have one person running rogue and leaving the others to fend for themselves. Xbox Live’s voice-over IP functionality works wonders on promoting tactical team play.
How can beta participants help make the final product better?
Warface is built on the players’ feedback, so feel encouraged to send any feedback or constructive thoughts to feedbackwf360@crytek.com; the Warface team aims to incorporate whatever possible and bring forth the best free-to-play experience possible. New forums will be made available soon at warfacexbox.com. You can also follow Warface on Facebook and Twitter.
