Battlefield 4 expansion packs postponed until further notice
Many players are angry at EA and DICE for shipping the China Rising expansion for Battlefield 4--especially as ongoing issues plague all versions of the game. A promised patch for PS4, for example, was delayed. New problems seem to be caused by the expansion, with some players unable to connect to the games servers.
While DICE and EA have offered players double XP as a token of their "appreciation," the company is going one step further until the ongoing issues are fixed. No further expansions will be released until the game is running as it should.
"First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4," an EA spokesperson told Polygon. "We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game--it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but were not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right."
Naval Strike, Dragons Teeth, and Final Stand are all planned for release in 2014. With no release date assigned to these packs, its unclear how long the suspended development will actually affect the final three map packs.
