Cyber attack hits Konami, change your password
Konamis ID Portal website was inundated with 35,252 "unauthorized logins" between June 13 and July 7 which exposed customer information, and the company suggesting that customers change their passwords in the wake of the breaches, according to a recent letter.
Konami detected a large number of "access errors" and began investigating July 8. The unauthorized logins "appear to have been leaked from an external service provider," according to the letter dated July 9 (PDF link), and information potentially exposed includes customer names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers and email address. Those customers affected have been notified via email.
"Konami strengthened its security and raised its monitoring level, and measures have been taken to ensure that IDs and passwords involved in these unauthorized logins can no longer be used to log in," the letter reads.
Anyone with a Konami ID can reset their password at this website.
