Fez is finally getting a patch on Xbox Live Arcade
Following news that Microsoft is ditching fees for titles updates on Xbox 360 games, Phil Fish has confirmed on Twitter yesterday that the Xbox Live Arcade version of Fez will finally be patched.
The Fez developer followed up with a tweet stating that the patch will take a few months to develop.
When Polytron released a patch for the game back in July 2012, it corrupted save files for a number of users. With the outdated Microsoft policy in place, the developer would need to pay up fees to issue another patch. "Were not going to patch the patch. Why not? Because microsoft would charge us tens of thousands of dollars to re-certify the game," developer Polytron said in a statement at the time.
Microsoft revised its policies and eliminated title update fees since April of this year. With the fees gone, Phil Fish can finally release that patch free of charge.
It has been over a year since the patch debacle…is anyone actually waiting for the patch to hit?
